I think this depends more on the individual skin and stubble combinations, which can be very unique and varied.

After 10 years of DE shaving, I feel my technique is good as I don't get any razor burn or nics/cuts but if I use something like a 34C, it ain't gonna get even close to DFS. I have tough stubble but not worry but I also have Ultra sensitive skin so I have always found aggressive razors to shave well but my skin didn't react well.

The Progress and now the Rockwell are the only two razors out of the 50+ I've used which shave well and keep my skin happy. This is not just about blade gap buy in my opinion and experience, it's a lot more to do with the head geometry also. You'll notice the progress and Rockwell have somewhat overlapping head design, which gives me confidence in my theory.
Yup. I agree totally. I oversimplified the issue. But, you managed to verbalise it quite succinctly.

Did somebody mention Shaver Heaven? I'm sure they did. Another great shave today. Bit fresh again in CBR, compared to SYD where I used to live and PER where my brother lives and Bargara where my folks moved to -

Hey everyone, it's been a while...

Currently in Thailand where it's hot and humid, so I thought I'd ditch the beard and enjoy the sun on my face.

Hope you're all well on here. I'll need to catch up on all the goss...

Hey mate, good to hear from you again! Pretty sophisticated shave kit for a holiday (?) - almost envious of that Weber, lovely, lovely razor.

Very happy with the lather this morning. I think I'm getting the hang of this synthetic brush caper.

Good shave but even my 2nd mingshi has uneven exposure. It's so annoying cos the side that shaves well, shaves REALLY well! Might have to just use it as a single edge.

Awesome lather from MWF. Very creamy and slick with its usual mind blowing post shave feel.

I think I've been overloading with my synthetic. Today I pulled back and it was much easier to build a lather which was still sufficient for my 3 pass shave. My technique is now to shake out all the water from the brush so it's barely damp and whatever amount of soap loads up seems to be the optimal amount.
