Amazing experience indeed. There is a rotten fruit vibe off the puck and out of the bottle. But I knew Dan is the man so I went for it... on the day of the work Xmas party too.

Of course he knows what he is doing. The menthol obliterates the sour notes on contact with skin. Just clever. And the latest iteration of the soap is a nice boost too.

@todras you clever bugger, you.

Using a mild razor seems like you don't need to pay so much attention because it's hard to hurt yourself. But this is not really true - if the angle is not perfect it doesn't yield a close shave and you need to go back multiple times instead to get a BBS (it's BBS or bust for me!). I was daydreaming today so had to go over old ground a bit more than I like. Still a great shave though, with abundant lather from a bit more time spent in the tub...

Pre-Shave: SebaMed, cold water
Razor: Razorock Mamba SS
Blade: Ladas (2)
Brush: Paladin Chief Strawberry Amber
Lather: Mike's Hungarian Lavender
Post-Shave: Alum, Stirling Bay Laurel Witch Hazel, Australian Emu Oil

Another great and easy shave with the Mamba and with the aid of some wonderful Mike's lather - ready for the weekend.

I hope you all have a fantastic Friday (y)

Wow what amazing pictures. You all put me to shame with your artistry and not to mention all that lovely shaving gear :)
Brush: Proraso
Razor: iKon Shavecraft 101 dual head with Bulldog II handle
Blade: Astra
Lather: Shaving Factory mystery soap
Post: Suavecito Menthol Vanishing Cream / Baber Shoppe Aftershave Balm

Personally I like the modern design of the SBS head but I thoroughly enjoy the milder Open Comb side in the 101 dual head. A mild but enjoyable shave complemented by the handle with it's superior knurling. Happy shaving!

Cheese, vomit, rotten fruit..it's all good - it's the Pineapple aldehyde accord I went with, to my nose I get a really over ripe cloying fruit from the bottle but everyone is different. My fragrances are never about the nose from the puck, and especially not a whiff from the bottle - nor are anyones really as the alcohol concentration is just brutal. Aftershaves, mine/everyones are all about the reaction of them hitting the skin and especially the dry-down over 10-20 mins because that's where the really interesting fragrance chemistry happens and my bag of tricks does it's thing - same thing goes for any artisan splash with any decent perfumery involved..you always need to evaluate them by applying them to skin and not from sniffing the bottle - the map is not the terrain.

The menthol was purely because of summer and I know people like and request it constantly, rather than it being a chemical device to mask the ripeness - personally I don't like using it in fragrances at all, I like the cooling effect of a little menthol but not the effect on the perfume as it runs amok. But it's summer, people like menthol so that's why it's there and for no other reason. The ripe fruit/sour/vomit/cheese note expiring on contact is just the nature of the volatile aldehyde expiring and as far as I know has nothing to do with the menthol per se when I have used it, but then again everyones skin is different and everyones environment/temperature and the interaction of said is definitely different so you just may be spot on in your situation.

The soap base is the same AP Reserve base, we have not revised it although with the warmer weather I am sure it is loosened up a little and the soaps were dosed a little stronger than usual as it's a summer LE thing and I wanted it to pop a little so the extra oils and AC's in the soap base itself may be having a slight effect.

The aftershaves were also dosed much higher than normal (they are an EDT at around 10% strength) because I am not doing an EDP. If anyone notices any separation of the oils in the Coolabah splash (due to the strength) - a quick 3 or 4 shakes before applying will get them back into solution without any dramas. I heated a couple of bottles up to see if it would be a problem prior to releasing them, when the solute hit around 33C I noticed some oil fall out of solution but shaking a couple of times rectified it so I didn't figure it to be an issue - I tried the same thing with Barristers Reserve Cool and a couple of others based on a hunch and observed the same effect.

BTW: that was a bloody cool picture you posted in the other thread of all the APR stuff you have collected - a very full compliment, you are one of a handful of people who owns a bottle of the original 'pork chop' too :)

Agree @Greenpike - @todras does this so well with several of his fragrances. Getting the balance right must be very tricky, but he always seems to pull it off. Bravo, Dan!

Pre: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Savile Row 3824 Silvertip Badger
Soap: Agressia Sensitive
Razor: UFO Goliath / ATT S1
Blade: Vintage Gillette Super Silver (4)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
EdT: Armaf Club De Nuit Intense

Using another of the Bulgarian Creams I picked up in recent travels. The Agressia, like other Bulgarian Creams I have tried, produces a dense and persistent lather. The trump card for the Agressia is the scent.
It has a lovely cologne scent - smells really classy and punching well above its modest price. The scent is a take on a popular modern Men's fragrance - I just can't quite identify it, but it is really nice.
Three passes for a DFS+. I'm starting to get the hang of the Slant - all up a very comfortable and close shave.
Finished with the Armaf Club De Nuit Intense. A couple of fellow wet shavers recommended this. Yes - it is similar to Aventus; I noticed this immediately. However, it has more apple than pineapple in the top notes, and also black current, balanced with citrus. It has a very elegant musk/woods dry down. It has good sillage and longevity, and, at least for me, represents amazing value for money.

Yep - risk assessment done in triplicate, offsite backup of all documentation in case litigation occurs and those lawyers want some paperwork!

Pre: Coconut Oil
Soap: PAA Al Fin
Brush: Semogue Boar
Razor: Asylum Rx
Blade: Kai Captain Mild (3)
Post: Alum Block, Jojoba Oil
AS: PAA Al Fin
Either this soap isn't up to the Asylum Rx challenge or 3 shaves is the limit of the Kai blade. Good shave but was starting to irritate and left a few weepers. Was happy with the lather so will have to wait til shave 4 on the Kai to determine though I was thinking the lather could benefit from a bit of clay during the shave. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
