A Two-Parter
  • Prep: Hot Shower
  • Prep: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cube 2.0 Scentless - Pre-shave
  • Brush: The Stray Whisker - 452/24 Synthetic
  • Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
  • Blade: Derby Usta
  • Lather: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Clubguy - Soap
  • Post Shave: Alum Block
  • Post Shave: Proraso Eucalyptus & Menthol Refresh Pre-Shave Cream

Another one of my two-part shaves. The dome up top, and the face out the front. My smoothest dome shave yet. Still working on keeping the correct angle across all locations, but getting better with each shave.

I think today's razor and blade combination seems to be best for me so far. The Derby Usta so far is the most comfortable blade I have used, I still haven't moved onto an Astra SP or the Feather blades, but I am really enjoying the smooth shaves using the Usta blades.

It looks like I have finally touched the bottom of my PAA soap container. I'm going to have to go shopping for some new shave soap soon. Still unsure what to buy given the somewhat restricted range of soaps here in Australia, but also balancing budget for soaps.

If you got the PAA from the stray whisker you’d have forked out $40 possibly plus shipping. Maggards will get you a tub of something super great for closer to $30 shipped. No question about it.
People need to stop waiting for the retailers here to get stock in. It’s evident they don’t give 2 shits unless it’s Proraso, TOBS or Truffit and Hill.

And will Maggard ship EDTs or splashes to Australia?

Not directly, but you can use a mail forwarding joint and have a set posted for around $15us. The more you get, the cheaper it is per unit posted. So 4 sets maybe $35-40us.
Everyone knows that’s why there’s plenty of declaration grooming splashes popping up in SOTD posts right?

Our somewhat restricted range here in the Great Southern Land just improved

Even looking at Maggard's, lots of soaps that interest me appear to be out of stock there as well. Add the cost of shipping, mail forwarding service, and potential GST collection (if caught) brings me back to the approximate cost of buying here in Australia.

Yes, certainly thinking about buying from @CraigE, but again still budget constraints.

Get in before the price rise mate 🙂. I have plenty of stock at the moment of most of them. The way things are going I will be sticking around for a while though. There will be discounts on multi buys once the price goes up.

I still say to that, “can’t compare if you can’t buy it here”!

Who is the current Aussie stockist of Declaration Grooming products? Stupid Con got some a few years ago but never made a subsequent order from Scott after it all sold out! I know cause Scott himself told me this. He had just assumed it didn’t sell. Great opportunity missed to have a premium brand carried in Australia. But a godsend in some ways, since I don’t have to pay $40 plus shipping that he’d be charging us for it by now.

Beard and Blade are another. Full of lies about orders etc. prices creeping up. Noble otter firefighter splash price has risen by $5 more than the other most expensive otter splashes. C’mon that to me represents a hustler grooming jerk type move. Did NO themselves gouge the prices cause they knew it was a limited release? Total flipper move!

I've been promising a flamefest at Beard&Blade for a while, so it looks like Bazza has beaten me to it. When I get back on the horse with purchasing soaps, I've decided not to give them my time, they only waste it. Luckily, I've got enough of my favourite NO products for at least 18 months, maybe 2 years...
