Being on sale plus an additional discount code made mincemeat out of my willpower.

A cheap impulse buy off local marketplace in the next suburb over.
Saved a nice old unbranded but honest little open comb survivor.
Bakelite case, 2 probably original curved end blades (rusty in their wax paper)
The finish in the machining isn't of a high polish, and not a single identifier on it anywhere.
All the comb teeth look excellent too.
Solid one piece handle, with consideration for balance, given just the bottom of the handle is drilled hollow, and not the entire length.
The handle is too heavy to be aluminium bar or some other light (cheap?) alloy, but I don't think it's plated brass either. Magnet doesn't stick, so I'm left with a stainless assumption.

Chime in if you have an idea of who made this.

Most recent buy from Maggards off their June sale. For the curious, shipped 26/6, delivered 15/7. So a little under 3 weeks. Much quicker than the last batch. I guess it's just the luck of the draw when it comes to international shipping. The lids were loose, with Tobacconist almost completely open. I guess it's the vibration of the plane/truck that does it over time. More prevalent with Maggards who uses less (or none) packing material than WCS which goes overboard with the packing peanuts.

Initial scent thoughts off the puck:

Tobacconist - Smells of dry tobacco leaf and wood. Like if you open a wooden drawer full of cigars.

Dulci Tobacco - Was purchased more for curiosity about the base than the scent. Smells like sorbolene cream mixed with a touch of tobacco. Texturally, it kind of reminds me artificial custard filing in donuts.

Boat Drinks - It's been on my 'to get' list for a while now, but similar to what most reviewers have noticed, it's quite heavy on the banana and coconut, giving it an almost chocolate bubble gum kind of scent. Not unpleasant, but certainly not the 'tropical' drinks I thought it was going to be.

I absolutely will. I have quite a few restorations that I need to finish first, but I will get to it, eventually.

The Coticule is 153 mm x 40 mm x 5,65 mm.

However, the yellow layer will have to be reduced to a width of ~2,1 mm. At its widest, the stone also has a BBW base layer, so the actual yellow layer is thinner, but the stone is heavily dished in the middle. By my reckoning, that will be the ultimate width I'll end up with once I flatten it.

In any case, plenty of life in the old lady.

On the bench right now a razor and a brush.

congrats mate.. this is still my favourite razor in my den

looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it
Haven’t shaved with it yet, but I imagine it’d functionally be the same as my black handled Rocca. It’s so pretty tho. The birch makes it look and feel warm. It’s like the difference between my German and wa-handled Japanese chef knives.

Don't know why but I just pulled the pin on a couple if Cadman "Bengall" SR's from the early 1900's. They should be delivered within a week or two.

The Cadman company were a prolific and popular Sheffield, England razor manufacturer in the latter 1800's and earlier 1900's. They exported extensively throughout the Empire.

The vendor knows very little about SR's so the only info I have to go on is his pics. The price was too good to pass these up so I bought them believing that I could accept any loss if they are duds.

Forgot you had one, yeah the shave will be exactly the same but will feel different.

I have all three and still can’t decide which I like best

Heh - I went for exactly the same deal & discount!

Picked up a new puck of MWF at the same time.

Still getting used to it - compared to my previous (yaqi mellon/ SLOC) it is definitely got more 'bite'. Finding it works amazingly well ATG & XTG, with a lot of noise to let you know the angle is right, but WTG I am still not as comfortable with it as the milder mellon. Thinking of just doing ATG & XTG passes with it, and see how that goes.

It's a lovely thing to see & hold in the mornings for sure
