What do you have in the post right now?

Decisions, decisions - I have a Lupo 72 in the post which is due to arrive anytime from today until Monday... do I shave tomorrow morning and risk it arriving tomorrow and then I'll have to wait to try it out? The suspense would be very difficult to take. Mind you, my technique has now developed to the point that I could probably just about shave every day without irritation...

Dang Aussie Post, how can you be so ambiguous, I've got big decisions to work through, and you're not helping!

And when it does get here, do I keep using the current Minora to see how far I can push it - 7 shaves at the moment - or do I chuck a new one in? And if I go new, a new Minora, or something completely different? I blame all you enablers out there - you know who you are - for all this choice anxiety I'm having to deal with...
@StratMan should be able to help you with blade recommendations as he owns both Lupo's and judging by his SOTD posts he enjoys the Lupo 72. (y)

First, the important one: if the blade is still working well, why not stay with it? But if it's even slightly less than perfect, just get rid of it. You only get one life.

My own frustration with the postal system today, I have a package that has been inching its way across the planet for the last 5 weeks (not shaving-related, this is me being organised for once with Mrs Gargravarr's birthday) and is now showing up on the tracking as "2 Nov. Addressee not available. Scheduled for another redelivery attempt". I've been home, and there's nothing in the mailbox. Bugger. :banghead:
Yeah postage is very frustrating lately as no progress with both my Ausface & DHL packages that have left Sydney but no further scans...??? :(
Saying that I did recently post out packages to SA, NSW, VIC and all arrived within a few days with SA within 2 days which was really impressive...

I own both Lupos too. I find the 72 slightly smoother than the 95 and it's my go-to if I feel like using a Lupo. Nacets do work better than the 7oC yellows for some reason (and the yellows are my fav in pretty much any other razor).

Yeah I was aware that a few users owned both and good blade suggestions. (y)

hey Zeke, congrats on a purchasing the 72 its an awesome razor.. up to you but if i were you i wouldnt use the used Minora, load it with a fresh one. And if you have any nacets lying around give them a go first. The 72 is a mild razor but paired with the Nacet is my favourite combo without doubt. The Minora is also a nice pairing but the Nacet is my #1, the 72 needs a sharp blade

I'll second that the 7 Oclock (and minoras are nice) but the Nacets in the 72 are my favourite by far, super smooth and super sharp

Couldn't resist the urge and have officially broken the Unofficial Sabbatical in style!!!

Many thanks good sir!
Unfortunately my supplies of AC blades are still on the way with latest update indicating Customs have detained my bulk order from Japan and I await contact from DHL to confirm the purpose of my order??? Never had this happen before which is a pain as I now have to convince them that my purchase is for personal use and not commercial!?

Thanks for that, I'm really looking forward to using the 72, and I do have some Nacets available, so I'll go with that option first up. I also need to track down some Wizamets at some stage to jump on that bandwagon too. Have you tried them in the 72?

This means DHL have not updated customs with correct shipment information. Needs to be manually entered. 100% DHL issue and not yours. The value is under $1000 and your seller is not required to be registered for GST as they do less than $75000 business in Australia per financial year.

I have purchased from your seller previously twice before covid, both times DHL, items arrived about 8 days if I remember, no issues.

what a pain in the arse!! I am sure @Gargravarr @rhodes96 or any of the many other Vector owners can help you out so you can at least give it a crack once you get it

In the meantime send them your link to this thread as proof that we are all crazy $%#@ that buy in bulk :)

yes I have also tried wizamets and polsilvers and they are very smooth blades and may well be perfect for you (depending on your growth). I have thick, strong growth and the 72 is a very mild razor but paired with the nacet mows my hairs down with ease while retaining its smoothness

I smell a 72 + nacet combo in tomorrows SOTD :)

Yeah tracking shows they updated regularly from Singapore to Sydney but this morning a message shows it held awaiting contact from importer?
Gave them a call and the lady was helpful and asked what the purpose was (personal or business) and whether DHL had contacted me for clarification. I await a call from the Imports Team who need my assistance and will escalate the matter by COB today to get the package cleared as really no issue to keep it held up?!

@Gargravarr & @rhodes96 have both sent supplies so I am truly greatful and wanted to try my luck important a bulk supply as local stock of Proline-30 blades is low so not really that fazed, just annoyed as they could've tried contacting me as if I didn't check tracking who knows how long the package would be held or sent back...?
Luckily I have DEs to shave with so First World problems :)
I did mention how 300 razor blades wasn't really a large quantity as many here have placed much larger orders so hopefully we get things sorted and I'll be sure to contact the seller to ensure they declare the right information as I'd hate others to have a similar issue buying from Japan. (y)

300 blades is not a bulk order.

When the package weight is over 20kg or one of the dimensions of the package reaches 40" then it is considered bulk and charged at a different rate. DHL and Fed Ex charge by air weight which is based on the dimensions of the package more than the weight.

Always try and keep your packaging as small as possible!

That is correct so might be an issue with what the seller has declared as only order one item (30x10 boxes) so no idea why there'd be an issue?
Lady asked what the purpose was and explained personal use and ordered in bulk as local supply restraints as most places either out of stock or unable to import due to shipping restrictions/delays...?
I'm due a call from the Imports Team later today and if I don't hear from them to call back so they can confirm things and hopefully get it on its way as business use requires an ABN but as you rightly state 300 blades or 10 boxes wouldn't be that large a parcel to warrant any delays...?

If anyone asks you what the purpose of the order is, always say GIFT!

Regardless if it classed as merchandise, unless your seller has an agreement with the ATO, and value of the item and shipping is less than $1000, no duty or GST required.

Valid point and I'll be sure to mention that to them later today as curious to hear why they held the package up.

Received an update from DHL Import Team and unfortunately I won't be getting my package soon as for whatever reason Customs are still chasing up further information and I should expect a call back Friday?!
Lets just say I'm not too impressed as I would think Customs have better things to do than hold up a small package from Japan considering you can import 1,000s of blades from Morocco with no questions asked...? :banghead:
Apparently Customs don't inspect the package as only check the invoice and despite it being cleared by DHL multiple times somebody has blocked it as they await more information and when I asked who they need info from (me or seller) DHL couldn't elaborate!?
