Paste & Cut Travelling Box No. 2 - Reviews and Comments thread

Do it! Great service from the folks at @Gifts&Care.com and even better then the usual Amigo (10%?) discount I think you can save 15% during their 5th birthday. I got me a bottle of Agua Balsamic and it and the Speick sit side-by-side proudly on my

Last night I cracked and jumped on G&C to buy a bottle. Augh!!!!!! Sold out... You snooze, you looooozeeee. Might ask our lovely resident vendor if he will take a raincheck on that 15% discount offer when Balsamica is back in stock.

Can't get rid of the Col Conk :(

Does ANYBODY like it?

Just making a guess here but I think Stillsy was the only one game to lather up with it. It certainly didn't look like a brush had touched it when I got the box.

I've tried it previously and didn't like it.

Some over YKW rave about it!

I had a shave with my Col Conk bay rum yesterday - it was a well below average shave. Did a face lather and first pass was ok but the next 2 passes were thin the foam was disapaiting. A problem i dont have with any other soap. Almost of the impresion i really dont like it after that.

Got a bay rum puck free with another order and it conked out on me midshave too. junk

Interestingly we all seem to have had a similar experience of it too.

So we have a consensus - the soaps made in honour and under the name of Colonel Ichabod Conk are rubbish.

Time to move one people, nothing to see here :)

My question - are all glycerin soaps the same??

Well this is what prompted the question :-| I flinched when he said somewhere between col conk and momma bear (never tried mb) it would be good to give his soap a go, though I think I'm more keen on his cream and croap but as you say, the proof is in the lathering

Brush: Simpsons Duke 2
Soap/Cream: TOBS Mr. Taylor's
Razor: Weber PH
Blade: Personna Med Prep (3)
After-shave: DR Harris Arlington balm

Noting the previous shave from the USA was a dismal affair, I thought I'd trace back to some colonial origins. Went as British as I could.

I've heard many bang on about the TOBS Mr. Taylor's so I was keen to see if there was really any substance to the talk. Trialling it straight after the Conk's was a little unfair to other soaps/creams as here we had a cream that exploded in a nice moisturising lather with great cushion and glide. It was night and day compared to the Conks - making the TOBS seem exceptional. So I had to look beyond the relief and really focus on the lather. It was good. Very good. But the best I've ever experienced? Under due consideration, it was pretty damn close, but no, the Tabac creates a nicer lather (for me!). Also if my memory serves then the performance of the TOBS Mr. Taylor's is very much like that of TOBS Shaving Shop. So to choose between the two would come down to scent for me. And my nose is more piqued by the TOBS Shaving Shop. So nothing against the cream - it is damn fine - but there's little room at the pinnacle - it is pointy and precarious - and so I would nudge it from the apex by the likes of Tabac and its Shaving Shop brethren.

I can't say much more about the Personna Med Prep (Blue) - third shave and faultless performance. I'm really liking this blade and looking forward to testing the 'Supers' PIFed to me by @filobiblic , to note whether there's a more affordable option. Having said that I'd pay good money if I can be guaranteed consistent face cutting of this calibre.

Noting that the DR Harris Arlington balm came from @Drubbing - if I recall correctly - then I should just draw short and say it was pure gold. Had a nice shave so the after-shave had little work to do. The balm was soothing enough. Smooth, no sting. Thought the scent tamer than that of both the soap and the cologne, which was disappointing. Most accurate I can say is that the Arlington balm is decent enough but there is better out there.

So a shave much improved from the last. Scratch up one to the UK…though I can't score the Yanks nil as these Med Preps are pretty darn great!

Agreed Drubbing. Which is a good thing in my opinion. I found Mr Taylor's the least exotic scent of the lot. The Toyoto Camry of the line up. It's hard to shave while yawning at how boring the fragrance is.

I love Mr T.

That's almost upon the same level as a smiley!
RUOK mate ?

Haha the Lada! Now there's a bit of fine Russian engineering. How is an avocado supposed to smell good? Maybe they wanted a challenge. I still believe Mr Taylor underwhelms. Eton College or Jermyn Street, that's another story
