AusFarce or AusFantastic?

I've been the AusPost parcel lockers because it's too hard to get to the post office during office hours... And I am tired of dealing with people.

I got a notification that I have a package waiting. I got there, scanned the QRCode. The familiar voice said "please pick up your package"... But none of the lockers opened!
I tried five or six times. But it just refused to open the fan door. ARGH!

I rang support and the girl was nice and polite. She said I would have to wait until the package times-out (a couple of days) and gets sent back to the post office. I don't disagree with her suggestion; I can't think of a better plan. But it's annoying as hell.

*sigh*

That is SUCH a PITA! Are these the lockers at Mitchell? Can you hassle the staff inside?

No way! I'd be in there making a nuisance of myself. The lockers are at the PO aren't they? There should be call out staff for that I would've thought, unless it's in the locker agreement you sign to accept rubbish conditions if things don't go to plan.

They are *often* outside of Post Offices. But, in this case, they are outside of a small supermarket (Crace).
So, there is noone to help.

I don't think this is an isolated incident. My last package was "rerouted" from Crace to another unrelated post office 2 weeks ago. I stood in a very long line. When I got to the front I was greeted by a very nice, but clearly exhausted, woman who said "Let me guess. You're from Crace?".
I think whoever setup that particular set of lockers crossed a wire or two. I've had about 10 packages sent there and I've had to chase at least four of them now. If it happens one more time I'm going to start using Mitchell again.

Was it Keven 'Bloody' Wilson who said "You're supposed to make it easier, not farkin hard"?

Look. I've had my rant. I think there's just some glitch in those particular lockers. It's not a deal-breaker in itself. It's just that they can't seem to get their act together.

@lerenau I’ve used my parcel locker a lot and I had the same issue, thanks to a friend of mine who works for the Australian Post gave me an easy solution.

Never collect your parcel on the same day when you received an email or notifications directly from your mobile phone saying is ready for you to collect, because the parcel locker computer system doesn’t update on the same day for you to collect your parcel.

You must wait for 24 hours before you collect your parcel at the parcel locker, because you cannot collect your parcel on the same day because parcel computer system is a bit slower.

Just give 24 hours and you’re ready to collect okay, not on the same day, or just wait a few days before you collect your parcel.

I actually received the notification yesterday.

I'm a Software Engineer. If their software is so slow that it takes 24 hours to update a record, they should hire me!
I actually work on exactly those kinds of products. :)

Or get yourself an emergency backup crowbar to open the bloody parcel locker would solve your problems, if you don’t care about the security cameras watching you before you get yourself into trouble with the police :p:D

Could be a batch interface rather than a live api

Surprisingly, sometimes they actually are efficient!

Over a weekend and via Chullora too!
Think I require therapy due to this shocking experience.

I've just had my first notification for a parcel on the Auspost app.

Telling me it is being returned to sender!

They're a special breed.

Ahhh, now I see the reason for at least part of the problem

The Postal Illuminati
Thanks @Mark1966 . Makes sense. Just like those shaving brushes I bought from Connaught recently. How does it make sense I can get them supplied and shipped internationally cheaper than buying in Australia? 'Cause we're subsidising international postage prices? Just like we're subsidising international energy. We're shipping coal and gas overseas as fast as we can, leaving us one of the few countries that made no provision for the domestic gas market, so now I'm paying nearly as much for LPG as for petrol for my car??!! Who's the UPU equivalent for energy?

Beyond incompetent. I have moved over to their 'business service' for all my orders as it integrates with my WP website back end allowing me to export orders, tracking and so forth.

In the past week I have had 3 orders go missing and one be returned, despite the label being AusPost generated. One of the others simply wasn't scanned at any of the points in NSW prompting the customer to send me emails, to which I had to investigate and resolve for them (quite rightfully too) but this is a waste of my time, I am paying them for a solution and to deliver my goods.

The last package was returned for god knows what reason (sorry @Spud1 I will sent it again express on monday). No explanation from AusPost, it was correctly labeled with the correct amount of postage.

Australia Post are a complete failure when it comes to business.

This is why it's so easy to support you.
You go where some in this industry fail to, that is customer service beyond the point of sale.
Phil could and should take a leaf from your book mate.
