Brush: Smog 620
Soap/Cream: RR xxx
Razor: Gillete Long Comb with Bulldog II handle
Blade: Personna Lab Blue [0]
After-shave: Alum + Nivea Sensitive ASB

I'm not sure whether this was a bad shave or the day after a bad shave, but my face is unhappy. Feeling a the burn around my chin particularly. I did go hard in that area yesterday, so this could be the after-effects. Or maybe I have trouble wielding the Gillette OC...

Head shave....

- Muhle R41 (which was a bit of a gamble given you have to shave essentially by feel alone on the back of your head!)
- Jaguar boar
- Camelot shave soap
- Polsilver Brown (4)

In a minor segue, I'd been recently theorising that pre-shave soap is either BS or only really of benefit if you don't properly prep ((e.g expose the hair to be cut to water to soften) - not trying to turn this into a discussion on the merits of pre-shave, perhaps in another thread) - anyway wary of the R41 on my noggin I wet my hair (~3mm) and applied some sorbolene, which being high glycerin would atleast impart some of the benefits that a good preshave would.

Shave was good - the R41 worked very nicely - zip cuts/irritation etc but thats normal for a head shave for me. Will be interested to try the sorbolene on a face shave as an underlayer-prep additive.....I suspect perhaps a minor benefit if you've properly prepped which is amplified if you're rushing etc.

Brush: Vulfix #374 Best
Soap/Cream: Proraso Cream
Razor: Fatboy, 6
Blade: Francais Wilkinson (0)
After-shave: huh?

Slight nick on chin. Otherwise great shave.

Thanks to Borked for the Simpsons Berkeley. Now this is a life partner! I'll settle down with this one!!

Soaked for a minute while stropping and squeezed out the excess, looked a bit limp compared to the synth. Loaded ridiculously fast about 10 seconds in the green. Way softer to the face than the boar I'm used to. The knot is smaller, but the bloom is larger. It doesn't hog the lather but it does retain the warmth. It looks like it will be fairly quick drying, though I'll start a spreadsheet of drying times to check that.. The handle is a little larger diameter than the classic. Overall length is perfect for face lathering. What a ripper

Yeah it's a keeper alright!

Though I'm interested in the shaver heaven stuff I got coming.. I don't care for the glycerin stuff but he might be onto something with the soft soaps. I've invested $30 in this being the case...

R.I.P. Persona 74.

I think I may have pushed the blade a shave or two too far, but 25 shaves is enough for any blade.
To celebrate it's life I paired the blade with some Rose Trumpers and had a hot shave. It still feels like a nice close shave but the sting of the aftershave has been getting progressively stronger the last couple of shaves, so it's time to go.

Brush: L'Occitane Plisson synthetic
Soap/Cream: Jabonman shave soap "Madreselva"
Razor: 38C

After-shave: Captain's Choice Cat O'Nine Tails Aftershave

How's the sting?
I cheated. [emoji16] I used alum before then waited 5 mins before applying. So little sting. [emoji9]
Great scent though! It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the original.

Brush: Muhle Kosmo Silvertip Badger 21mm
Soap/Cream: Occam's Cream (thanks @Nonick for the sample!)
Razor: Gillette Long Comb
Blade: Personna Lab Blue [2]
After-shave: Dickson's WH

I really liked that Occam's. Was my first shave ever with it. I may have not used quite enough cream (that Muhle is a soap hog, and it's been a while since I've used it), but it was still a VERY good shave. Very slick lather, very easy to create. By the third pass I was running out of lather a little bit, but there was still SO much glide. Loved it. @Nonick was quite generous with his sample, so I have plenty more shaves to come!

What a great start to the weekend!

I'm not sure I'm a massive fan of that brush though... Maybe I'm not a badger man. It's floppy. And I'm worried that I will break bristles, so I go very gentle with it. With my Smog 620, I don't really worry about breaking it, so I go pretty hard.
