Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Occams Original Shaving Cream
Razor: Gillette L1 Slim - set on 7
Blade: Vintage Schick Platinum Plus - shave 3
After-shave: SIM balm

After trying the D R Harris yesterday I reatreated to the Occams today - a safe choice. I like the results of the Slim on 7 but the process less so!

Good result from good gear - who needs a Flexball!

Gillette Slim (5) x 2 passes
Fresh Perma-Sharp blade
Mitchells Wool Fat
Simpson Duke 3
Castle Forbes AS balm Lavender

Not exactly the nice shave I got yesterday. Perhaps the sharp edge of the Perma-shave needs a bit of wearing in and maybe I got a little too cocky after yesterdays great shave. I little bit of irritation under the neck from pressing too hard. Post-shave feel was very good, no doubt due to the MWF. I must grab for this soap more often. My last Perma-Sharp blade from a small pack I received 6 months ago. Very good blade, but I have too many other good ones so probably won't buy any in future.

@Mark1966 will certainly consider this... Do you guys all use balms / other aftershave treatments? More or less so after different types of creams and soaps?

Aftershave, Proraso or spieck for me. I throw on a balm of either after getting dressed too. I could get away the moisturising of the aftershave, but I've a lucrative modelling contract to think of...

Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson "The Duke"
Soap/Cream: D R Harris Marlborough
Razor: Gillette L1 Slim - set on 6
Blade: Vintage Schick Platinum Plus - shave 4
After-shave: Tet-A-Tet splash

The Duke really likes a hard soap so I used the D R Harris that sits on my vanity again. This time I dialled the Slim back a notch to 6.

Much better result this time around. The Duke is Chubbesque and loves hard soaps so the lather was better to start but the Slim on 6 just took the edge off things.

Finishing with the Tet-A-Tet - a very interesting splash with patchy heritage - but a great smell!

Gillette Slim (6) x 2 passes
Perma-Sharp blade (2)
Tcheon Fung Sing en Barbiere di Figaro soap
Semogue Mistura
Acqua Di Parma AS

Turned the dial up to 6 hoping to temper my habit of applying pressure. Lathered with Barbiere - pleasant orange citrus scent. 2 pass shave that was meh. Bit of sting when I splashed on the AdP.

My last shave with the Slim tomorrow before putting it back in the vault for a hiatus.

And that slight chuckling noise you will hear coming from the vault will be the Slim knowing you will never achieve its perfection of shape and balance.
Anyway I had another lash with the Lavender and VitVetVaver (or whatever). It remains as good as the first time -lotsa lather lotsa glide and all in all a very fine experience.

All this talk of using Slims…and here is I….Slim-less (well betrays my body shape quite well actually). I will have my own one day.

I have been on the Japanese Feather thing for a couple of weeks and really enjoying the challenge. Beautiful shaves with faceterbation fantasies all day long. I love it!

But had to get my shit together quick today and used my Futur, it was fantastic, so quick and efficient. Like a toy, but such a good close shave in record time.

Creams and brushes just change on a whim.

Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Mike's Natural Soaps - Hungarian Lavender
Razor: Gillette L1 Slim - set on 6
Blade: Vintage Schick Platinum Plus - shave 8
After-shave: Old Spice splash

I'm not a fan of the 'scent' of the Mike's Hungarian Lavender but then again I purchased this and another from a user YKW and really have no idea how old they are (the other one is Barber Shop and while a little nicer is unused and fairly mild in scent). Despite that they lather really well. Certainly work better for me than most hard soaps

The Old Spice is a recent purchase - not vintage and still nice. Something timeless here

Why don't all you Slim Boys (sounds a bit like an entry in the gay and lesbian mardi gras parade) go and find a room somewhere.

A re-knotted brush. My brush collection consists of a lot of no-names.
Trusted lovely lightweight 7'O'Clock bakelite beauty with a Vintage Wilkie Super Sword Edge on no 5. The only metal you need to "dial in" is a blade.
Occams Lime. Almost half way through this sample. It was a generous sample and I need to persist in order to finish it.

All good. Not sure if the Super Sword Edge is up there with other vintage blades but I'll run with it for a while.

Brush: restored Boeckhs boar
Soap/Cream: TOBS Jermyn (sample provided by @Lifes a Peach )
Razor: Merkur Progress on 3
Blade: Voskhod on 3rd shave
After-shave: NA

Fantastic two pass shave. The Jermyn was given to me by Lifes a Peach because he has reported issues lathering it. No problem here - I dipped the tip and swirled up a storm. I love the scent, and of course TOBS is one of the best creams.
I'm nearly at the end of the Voskhod life span - it will probably go longer but I have so many I don't need to be frugal with them. Four shaves will do.

Where did you get your Voskhod blades? Never heard of them before this forum. I like Personna Reds/IPs so how would they compare (in your opinion)?

I got some from a russian ebay seller, some from another forum member, I don't recall where I got them originally - maybe a sampler from RM?
I posted a comparison on another thread about these, the Voskhods are mild and forgiving compared to the Reds being sharper. Both are good blades. Most people would consider Reds the superior blade.
If you want to try some Voskhods, PM me your address and I will send you a sampler.

Thanks @JugV2 - That's kind of you!
