@Lifes a Peach - where, where, do tell!

Actually, more seriously, I do wonder whether I NEED a more modern stainless steel razor ....

I have tried a feather and ikon OSS. I have them in storage now as the 38c kinda boring is making a happy irritation free face!

OK guys - I need some help.

Just finished a blade in the Eclipse Red Ring and feel it is time for a change in razor.

Suggestions from anybody?
Easy, remind yourself as to why you endure us and this pursuit, go find a cartridge and some canned goo/gel and hack you face to bits with that.

Possibly even a Boring Accountant?..........

You'll never hear that from me. Nor will I capitalise like that! You gotta stop this @gthomas04 ........he's broken........he can't even choose a razor from amongst the 300 odd exotic, shiny, gold, triple plated razors he's got and ends up using some rusty old heap he's got lying about somewhere.

Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Pre-Shave: Occams Original Pre-Shave Soap
Soap/Cream: Occams Original Shaving Cream
Razor: Gillette L1 Slim - set on 7
Blade: Vintage Schick Platinum Plus
After-shave: Occams Original Aftershave Balm - oh wait, it is not made - Pens 1870 balm

Well my last S.O.T.D was allegedly a month ago (here) - not sure what I've been doing since!

The Slim on 7 is VERY different to the Eclipse Red Ring - much more aggressive and I had to take a little more care.

I used the Occams Original Pre-Shave Soap to create a lather on my face in the shower. The scent is sensational! It was disappointing to have to rinse it off when I got out.

The Occams Original Shaving Cream is a very effective cream. Lathers easily, good glide, moisturising on the skin. In fact it probably saved my face on the first pass from the far more aggressive Slim as I got used to things. The scent is not as strong/the same as the pre-shave soap - that would be my only regret but of course YMMV.

Finished off with Occams Original Aftershave Balm - or I would have if it was available and had the scent of the soap :) Instead I used one of my favourites the Pen's 1870.

I presume that @Occams is sticking to what he knows and just doing soaps and creams but a balm in that scent would be fantastic IMHO.

Overall a great Queens Birthday shave - fit to meet Her Majesty now!

Unbelievable - amongst his other handicaps he is a bloody Monarchist - your name is in the book come the revolution!

Ummm, yeah maybe. Look at the Queen's representative in Australia - Sir Peter Cosgrove. Would you prefer as a President:

Xi Jinping - from China, that beacon of freedom and democracy? or maybe;

Vladimir Putin - of Russia, now there is a super-power going places! or maybe;

Bashar al-Assad - the fun loving President of Syria, or maybe;

Robert Mugabe - from Zimbabwe, where the only shaving for whites is with a cut-throat - used literally :(

Or last, but by no means least, maybe

Barack Obama - enough said.

The evidence may convince me that hanging from the nearest lampost might not be such a bad option come the revolution @gthomas04 :)

Vive la République!,

Vive la Résistance!

Vive la Révolution!

now @Mark1966 I aint no Mod but does this look on topic to you mate? Hmmm…

Ha, Ha, yeah a nice attempt at defence but….Peter Cosgrove a good choice? That's like saying the incoming Governor of NSW is a great idea too. Oh boy I'm THIS close to emigrating to NZ….or WA, same diff.

I like the shine you've taken to the Occams Original - sounds great….and dispels all my initial scepticism about the Olive Oil, as the lather killer within, as planted by @Drubbing . I might buy me some of the Original soap, 'coz I can't wait until 2015 and the arrival of the remnants of the soap scum, stubble and belly button lint wrapped in soggy cardboard otherwise known as "The Travelling Box" I reckon.

Hmmm, good call - might have to ban myself ...

Regardless of what you think about Cosgrove or Hurley (living in CBR has given me more respect for military types) given the alternatives I proposed - take your pick!

There are individual portions of both soaps and the Lime cream in the Box - just a shared sample of Original - but plenty to go around!

Although atheism doesn't describe how atheist I am and the value of Monarchy (capital letter by convention only) to me is nothing but the actions of the drunken buffoon Kerr sacking an elected government and I'm always chomping at the bits to discuss these issues, this is not the place to discuss religion or politics. So maybe let's leave this where it is.

........NZ….or WA, same diff........

Oi! That's rich coming from a Canberrian. Now that is an issue we can discuss at length. Although I can't imagine what you could bring to the table.

I'd respond but I've banned myself :)

Nice hint to leave this well alone even with smileys and look forward even more to that beer you are buying me next time I'm in the Wild West!

To clarify @stillshunter lives in NSW. He just comes into CBR to take our jobs, use our facilities and basically trash the place ...

I was just about to say exactly the same thing in defence of myself. Hmmm…
Born and bred in Sydney and still worry that the umbilical cord is stretched thin being three hours away down here in the Canadian wilderness…oops that's Canberran, sorry you wouldn't know it with this 'king cold! Funny how the populace in Canberra shuns us blow-ins and yet we were invited to emigrate here by their betters (actually they paid to relocate me!)…I s'pose they had little choice considering the dwindling IQ. Gotta say the oppression here is extraordinary, it's like Australia back in the 60s and 70s for those Eurpean migrants all over again, with us new-Canberrans getting the One Nation Party treatment from the native Capitalians. I still cringe every time I see their white cloaks, roughly hewn eye holes and pointy cone hats.

To keep this on topic, had an interesting shave yesterday, but still wondering where best to post it. I have just started on my "own personal Monsta Blade Challenge" - @Monsta_AU sent me a horde of blades (including many a vintage) and a very specific batting order (great work!).
I'm thinking about either:
  • posting here,
  • in the Blades Forum under each he sent, or
  • a new thread entirely documenting the journey from Indian Wilks to broken glass.

Take the OT stuff OT please.

Any rambling references to Betty Windsor, Phil the Greek and their family of privileged half-german inbreds is about as far OT shaving as you can get.

OK - before somebody gets hurt ....

A reminder of where all this started - with the last sentence deleted (y)

…and I remain very curious about this Occam's original scented soap.

…and I remain thankful for your most excellent review. More of it I say!
