P.160 morbido
Semogue 830
Merkur 34C
PSS
Alum
Some new Loreal ASB I bought alc based gel as I discovered

A few bumps hiding under several days growth. Nothing the alum didn't deal with.

Got the tick of approval from my daughter so it must have been a good shave!

Pretty much a standard shave today.
  • Pureman Opencomb prototype
  • Aussie Spoiler, no idea how many shaves but it must be in the 7-8 category now
  • Proraso Green tube
  • Smoggie 730HD
Good results, a little patchy in a couple of spots which is to be expected once the blade gets this far along. Otherwise no nicks or irritation. I definitely want to get more of these blades, they are awesome.

Coupla shaves:

Newly restored butterscotch brush-Just a 16mm TGN finest knot but more than big enough for me. Nice and soft with plenty of backbone.
Irisch Moos stick and Tabac cream-Give me the Germanic stuff over all that used by those greasy, swarthy Italians.
A razor with Schick on shaves 4-5.....or is that 5-6?-Will try an Aussie spoiler when this one has done it's thing in a coupla weeks.

Ohhh shiny new forums!

Have been sticking with TOBS Sandalwood recently, great results with everything I use (recently 34C with Gillette Plat. Blue and Red Tip SS with vintage Schick)

Sandalwood was my first TOBS experience. It's great stuff but when you put it against the much purer Proraso it smells very cologne-y.

I should get some more of the TOBS... but I like Proraso Red more.

Both are great lathers but I'm not sure I'm sold on either yet. I was expecting sandalwood to be a bit more of an exotic scent. As it is it just smells soapy to me.

It does seem like it needs more scent, absolutely.

Having tried both, I actually prefer the TOBS over the Proraso Red. I guess everyone's different- I'm told there are even people that don't like Arko!

Mr626 is one of the good guys. He was using the term "people" loosely! :p

I'm thinking Ingrams will be the go in the morning but maybe ill go for...

ARKO!

Love the heft of the 34C. Wouldn't catch me using a SPUD!

............Wouldn't catch me using a SPUD!

My thoughts exactly...........until I used one. They aren't light, other razors are just too heavy. Expand your horizons SYD! It does require a bit of sensitive manual dexterity.

Retired the Aussie Spoiler after ~10 shaves and decided it has been a while since a White Platinum got a go.

Loaded one up and proceeded like most of my shaves of late - Pureman Open comb prototype, Proraso Green & the Smoggie 730HD. Bloody hell they are great blades. Just. So. Smooth. Unfortunately they don't glide like many of the others, but you can feel the smoothness of the blade with excellent sharpness.

I need to buy more, only 2 packs left in the stash that I can find.

Re-knotted little mongrel travel brush-It's an hexagonal shape, one of my favorite handle configurations as it's gives you an excellent grip which is important with a little brush. Unfortunately it's not a shape you can get using a lathe so all such handles are cast plastic and therefore not really collectors items. More on this one in an appropriate thread.

Irisch Moos stick-Great stuff, love the scent.

A (mongrel) razor with Schick on No f**k knows. Must be ten or something judging by the build up of soap gunk. The only downfall of ever lasting blades is that you have to do a mid session de-gunk which I don't particularly like doing. Handling naked blades and all that. It'll last at least another three shaves.

All good.

Final shave on my R41 before it goes @Pjotr for a holiday.
R41
Gillette Black Plat
Tobs Splice
Semogue LE Boar

A lovely shave, cold water because it's so damned hot in the morning.
No nicks cuts or barking dogs.

Finished with Floid.

Mixture of Mitchell's Wool Fat soap and Proaso Red tube cream
Merkur 38C with Persona Red blade
Baxter of California after shave balm
3 passes

This is the first time I have mixed a soap with a cream, it will not be the last!
The razor glided over my skin like it has never done before.
It gave me the most enjoyable shave since getting back to wet shaving!

I'm looking forward to waking up tomorrow morning to try this again.

After all the talk of Wilkinson blades, and vague memories of some disparaging rmarks of the Indian Wilkinsons (RM being a notable exception) I decided to return to what I thought was a fairly decent blade.
Loaded a new Indian Wilk into the spare Slim (everybody needs a spare Slim) and lathered up with Tabac (This tub of soap will never end - it seems to get fuller after every shave).
A lovely shave - the blade does its job while enver seeming to threaten - what its longevity is I have no idea, I suspect 3 to 4, but given I bought 100 for about 12.00 some time ago I am not going to complain about cost per blade.
I recall sending some of these out to some of you a while ago - the key to them is to remeber they are a mild blade so probably need an agressive style razor (I set the Slim to 8).
If any of the gentlemen who are buying the English Wilkinsons would like to sell me a couple for comparison I would be most pleased and happy to pay a modest stipend.
