Pre-Shave Musgo Spiced Citrus Oil Soap
Brush The Grooming Co Synthetic
Soap Shave Heaven Hubba Hubba
Razor Gillette Sim / Danshaku (Sunday,Tuesday) / Hoshitombo 6000 (Sunday, Monday)
Blade Persona Blue Med Prep
Post Shave Alum, Witchhazel, Speick ASB

Been without PC access for a while and currently can't post from work - bloody proxy firewalls. Tapatalk is okay for quick messages and reading but sucks for posting from my phone.

@Draco Noir kindly brought the Hoshitombo into town for me last Friday after giving the once over on the hone to bring the edge back. Didn't shave on Friday or Saturday nights due to pure laziness and when it came time to shave on Sunday I decided to compare the Hoshi with the Danshaku that @Draco Noir had kindly loaned me. Neither of the straights felt very comfortable battling my 4 day growth which I put down to lack of experience. After I did the first pass with the slim I was able to go back to the straights and do some comparison.
Went solo with the Hoshi on Monday and back to the Danshaku on Tuesday. I find the Danshaku is more forgiving with the angle of blade to face but when I get the Hoshi just right it is smooth as silk.

Long way to go on the straight path but I'm limping along

Cold water shave
Preshave: bloom water
Soap: Shaver Heaven, Forbidden Forest
Face lather
Razor: Gold Dollar 6/8

Last few days have been excellent shaves. This morning, after a restless night proved my un-doing. My first pass and my angle was too steep and must have resulted in a scrapping of my skin leaving my face a little warm and tender. Second pass I rushed as I had not reached that state of Nirvana wet shaving brings resulting in two small nicks. By pass three I had sorted myself out and things started to improve. Applied some Nivea balm which I had in my drawer and probably used 3-4 times in the 12 months since I purchased it. Feels better now. Better night's sleep tonight and better shaving tomorrow.

Face Wash : PAA Menthol Glycerine Soap
Pre-Shave : Razorock Peppermint Pre-Shave Emulsion
Brush : Simpson Wee Scot ("The Peanut")
Soap : Chiseled Face Cryogen
Razor : Hoshitombo 4000 Kamisori Style Straight
After Shave : Alvarez Gomez Agua de Colonia Concentrada

Today's shave started out as a bit of a joke. @Lifes a Peach and I had been talking about the Tardis of the shaving brush world, Simpson's Wee Scot. Somehow the idea of an entire mini shave came up, and I decided to do it. The Hoshitombo 4000 is by far the the smallest of my straights, so it was an auto-include. The soap was also an easy pick - tiny sample container and a recommendation from @StueyB : "It's a lot like white Tiger Balm and it'll make your eyes water". And the Alvarez Gomez AS sample was more than small enough to fit in with the spirit of the exercise.

The Wee Scot is really amazing - a brush so tiny has no right to produce the sheer quantity of excellent lather that it did. More than enough for a 3 pass shave. And @StueyB was right about the Cryogen shaving soap - even the most hardened menthol addicts here would have to be pretty satisfied with this one. The sporty little Hoshi was a real pleasure to shave with today - 2 really comfortable passes and a tiny bit of clean up produced a BBS result that I wasn't expecting. The usual Argan Oil blend to finish up, followed by the fresh, citrusy tang of the Alvarez Gomez. I'm going to have to actually buy some of that AS soon - the sample is pretty close to running out.

I'm starting to think that BBS shaves are a bit like Thoreau's description of happiness : "Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder".

I've worn a goattee for many years.
I was trimming it with clippers and made a fatal mistake.
I now have no goattee. For the first time in years I have had to shave my chin and upper lip. Which proved very time consuming.
So my sweeping claims of a fast shave are unfounded.

Todays shave:

R41 with PSS (2)
Boeckhs Rubberset boar
Proraso original green soap

I must say I look dashing as some kind of dashing creature on national dashing day.

Wife hates my clean shaven face, needs my goattee back urgently. She's only seen my bare face a few times in our life together.

Sigh.

Thank you my friend - although it is really hard to be mindful with all the noise - but I can get some enjoyment out of my shaves (y)
