Brush: L'Occy Plisson synth
Soap/Cream: Wickhams Southsea Spray
Razor: Weber PH
Blade: Feather
After-shave: Speick

Great lather from the Plisson synth, but still leaves me cold. Is it just me?
Love the Wickhams
Love the Weber with the Feathers
Love the Speick....

Cold man. Think of the Badgers and piggies losing their hair... Doesn't your wifey support non-animal shaving products?

Brush: Plisson Synth
Razor: Fatboy on 5
Blade: Vintage English Gillette Platinum (4)
Cream: Ingrams
A/S: Captain's Choice Lime + 444

Nice shave but the Captain's Choice and 444 are not good for each other, lost the burn of the A/S and no cooling either.

I had a shave with two samples last night, croap 1 on the right side of the face and croap 2 on the left.

@Nonick / @filobiblic gave me samples of Shaver Heavens grapefruit (that nonick didn't get on with) and QCS iced key lime (I think) which is supposed to have a fair whack of the cooling stuff

I couldn't work out which was which from smelling them, so decided to try shaving with both to see if I could determine which had the big menthol hit. I got nothing, from either of them. Both had quite faint scents to my nose, (lathered well) but not a touch of menthol in either.

That's a surprise as Nick said it was supposed to be as cool as their Vostok soap, which is supposed to be right up there in the menthol stakes.

Did it make your eyes water? I mainly remember the eye wateringness. They say it has the same as their Vostok, so the Vostok can't have much either - next soap company!

You're getting into the hang of things with dual face lathering!

The Shaver Heaven grapefruit has no menthol at all. It smells a sweet citrus like air freshener. I'm not sure what kind of lime (sweet? limey-lime? tangy?)

Toilet freshener is the description your looking for ;-)

ARKO sits in the trough, SH Grapefruit floats in the air.

It's a classic pincer - land war with air support. My nose never stood a chance.

Cold water shave
Pre-shave: Woolies brand Vitamin E cream
Brush: Simpson Berkeley
Soap: P160
Razor: Dovo straight SS 5/8
AS: Booster Oriental Spice

Made a mistake tonight (2 actually). Tonight was my first attempt with the P160 soap that @Mark1966 sent up. It was a good lather and reasonable slickness but I also for the first time tried a pre-shave (Woolies brand Vitamin E crram) to soften the stubble up. Couldn't really discern if the slickness was the Vitamin E cream or the P160 … … … Oh well, next time.

Shave was close and smooth. 3 pass shave and tidy-hp. The witchhazel (I think) in the Booster certainly sealed the ol' pores up.

The second mistake? I was so busy inspecting the glide of the pre-shave/soap combo that when I swapped the straight from my right to left hand, I missed the handle, got the blade and put a nice slice in my left thumb. We get so familiar with the tools of our trade we occassionally lose that respect they deserve.

Mate. You and your thumbs/hands have a complicated relationship. At least a razor cut is cleaner than a fan's chop and ought to heal quicker.

I wonder how often a barber of the past sliced himself with this razor...?

I don't think I would dare trust my left hand with anything so sharp as a straight razor.

After ~45 days, it's time to retire THE BLADE.
These Wilkinson Sword Light Brigades are indeed pretty special.
Started off in a #21 hd by memory, went to the 37c slant open comb, then onto a new old style open comb and finished it's time with slim shady.

Pulled out Smoggie's OC in cherry wood boar, did an admirable job and it's probably nearing a reasonable level of breaking in finally.
Really should rotate it a bit more into the collection, yet like to give it ridiculous amounts of time to adequately dry, in order to diminish deteriorating glue due to water seepage.

Mixed Proraso red with RazoRock XXX.
Not bad.
RazoRock is too floral for my liking I've decided, so red mellowed that out a bit.

Finished off with Thayers witch hazed strongly spiked with menth crystals.

R41 Polsivering
Straw broom
B&M Latha
B&M KYOVU Original aftershave

So Latha is a winner. A little softer than their other soaps, tallow based it's slick as slick!

This was their aim ...

"we should devise a simple tallow soap with superior slickness and skincare. Over the course of many months, we tested and retested until we had assembled a truly spectacular product, a soap that was easy to lather, dense, creamy, slick, and which did not exhibit the same quirks as our main lines. He chose argan oil and shea butter as the superfats to enhance the slickness and help to mitigate the drying effects of the product (it is soap, after all). We added sodium citrate to protect the lather from hard water and to aid the user in working up a dense, slick lather quickly and easily."

And I'd say they were very successful. It loaded in about 10 seconds, and had heaps of lather left over after two passes. The face feel after is somewhat similar to Mikes, very soft and not dried out at all.

The aftershave is a liquid aftershave. It left my face feeling tight skinned, but not bad. It's not as balmy as balm, though sold as a 'splash for balm guys'.

The original is the seville scent, and you want to like it because its strong. Has moderate staying power too, though not as much as an alcohol based AS.

Comfy shave with some great products! The Latha was great in hard water with a straw broom so I can't wait to try it with the Simmo!

Ah what a good hobby!

I don't think I would dare trust my left hand with anything so sharp as a straight razor.

To make my LH even more of a challenge, 20 years ago I was involved in a vehicle accident (my vehicle was not even moving when it got hit) & I spent 10 weeks unconcious + another couple of months lying in hospital. I have mobility & co-ordination issues with my left side (hand and leg). This makes straight shaving a challenge while using my left but providing I am slow and pay attention I can manage. When not concentrating, like transferring the razor from right to left hand last night, my left has a mind of it's own and goes where it wants. I probably should learn to concentrate more.

Whoa! @Dale.Whiley you've got so many tales of injury to yourself it's crazy! Seems like your a magnet for injury...

Yahuh. Mind you I got 100 on eBay for what was slightly over the odds. One of the best blades Gillette has ever produced. Better than Spoilers, better than GPPs.

My shave today was a bit spesh too. The Pureman OC Proto is back in my hands with many thanks to @Mark1966. I hope everyone who used it in P&CTB2 enjoyed the experience.

How to celebrate the return of the prodigal razor? Fresh Spoiler, Simpsons Lavender & Vetiver, Plisson Synth. Abracadabra....and I was shaved.

That damned synth is !#%*ing incredible. The lather became something else today - it was like whipped cream. Not sure if Simpsons product or brush, but the result was just gobsmackingly good.
