The Morning Shave.

Minora Week –

The Gillette Minora was in my 1961 Gillette FatBoy today.

I set this on 4, however this setting wasn’t taking enough so reverted to 5.

A comfortable shave however not close. This blade has lost its edge from 3 shaves, so will use a new blade tomorrow.

No weepers or discomfort, just took a bit of work to get a good close shave.

An opportunity to try a sample of Proraso Aftershave Balm – Eucalyptus and menthol. Very nice! Creamy. Cooling balm, plenty in this sample for another 2 shaves. Really nice scent.

Minora Week –

The Gillette Minora was in my 1959 Gillette Rocket today.
A new blade today, silky smooth effortless shave. DFS

Arko isn’t everyone’s choice, it does have a distinctive scent, that dissipates.
Using some of the remaining Proraso Aftershave Balm – Eucalyptus and menthol. Cooling balm to finish the shave.

 
Pre-shave:- Cool Shower
Bowl/Scuttle:- Captain's Choice
Brush:- Yaqi Sagrada Familia Two Band Badger 22/50mm knot
Soap/Cream:- Valobra (4 tallow shaving sticks press into a 250 ml plastic tub)
Razor/Blade:- Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements 'Quantum' OC ('omega' mild baseplate) borrowed / Wizamet Super Iridium #6
Post/After-shave:- T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent mixed into the 240ml bottle with Invite E High Potency Pure Oil (10 drops), Natural Plant Glycerine (20) & Tea Tree Oil Antiseptic (5)
Moisturising Cream:- Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Fragrance-Free (for autumn & winter season)
Fragrance:- Burberry London for Men

Making a start on a "new" tub of Yardley today. As fresh as such a soap with the Prince of Wales royal warrant on the lid can be, anyway. That would have been Prince Edward, so this soap would presumably date from sometime 1921-1940. Some of these soaps retain their original scent better than others. This one has an overlay redolent of wooden cabinet and ancient furniture polish. Not at all unpleasant, but I'm hoping it becomes more lavenderish as I work my way through the puck. On the flip side, this soap has none of the "crustiness" around the outside of the puck that I have sometimes found.

I think I remember when my current tub of Two Kings was that full. :unsure: Now there's a big black hole in what's left. Fortunately, I have one last backup. I ❤️ it.

The Gillette Minora was in my 1964 Gillette Slim Adjustable today.

2nd use on this blade today, smooth effortless shave. DFS

I clean my blades after each use, and return to their wrapper, I did notice on the first blade the printing on the blade was coming off, the same happened to this 2nd blade. Maybe this is the coating, and the reason I only had 3 good shaves from the 1st blade.

Used the last bit of the sample Proraso Aftershave Balm. Very nice cooling balm to finish the shave. Enough in the sample for 3 shaves.

A nice balm, however, I consider the Nivea Sensitive Balm to be a little more moisturizing and better value.
