Brush: Semogue 830
Razor: Wilkinson Sticky
Blade: English Wilky
Soap: Jabonman Haitian Vetiver
A/S: Fine Clean Vetiver

Pre: eShave pre shave oil
Brush: Simpson duke 2 pure
Razor: Gillette open comb
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Soap: SV 70th Anniversary
After: Alum, Myrsol formula "C"

Nice shave this evening. The Gillette open comb is definitely more aggressive than the EJ DE89. I'm sitting here feeling my face burning mildly. Everything @Drago Noir said to me was right, the razor surprised me in a good way. It also let me know where my technique is at - particularly with respect to weight. Not quite ready for this razor I feel it's the consensus...
Also, I may not have heeded @Draco Noir's advice, I think the pre oil may have degraded the lather a little. Had to reload for the third pass. Was an enjoyable experience, but one I will not repeat until I am more experienced. [emoji2]

Sword: Ever-Ready 24/14
Suds: Gent's #4 Olive / Omega S10108
Salve: Myrsol Antesol

Going back to my olive oil shaving soap after a long absence trying to finish pucks of MWF, Proraso G, and Fauldings Shave was superb. It has a wonderful skin feel that I don't get in other soaps.

Soap: Shaver Heaven, Barbershop
Brush: Edwin Jagger, badger
Face lather
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
Blade: Astra Green SP (1)

Another restless night so I just went the DE with a fresh blade. I have proved a few times now when it comes to wielding a straight that lack of sleep = lack of co-ordination = blood. Took the safe option (the SAFEty razor option) and had an absolutely superb shave. So good in fact that my wife asked me at lunchtime, "I thought you used the DE this morning?" So close and so smooth. I have a new respect for DE's.

IMO it's all to do with technique. Any Most razors (straight, safety, SE/injector) can give you an excellent shave with the right technique. [emoji106]

Great to hear you notched up another fantastic shave (and with bonus points to the DE). [emoji41]

Mastro Livi Symmetrical Kamisori, 11/16 Full Hollow, French Point

In this rainy day, I opted for this Mastro Livi symmetrical kamisori made from Damasteel Odin's Eye pattern. I also opted for "somewhat warm" fragrances, such as Meißner Tremonia Indian Flavour Shaving Soap and the Italian "Pino Silvestre" (Wild Pine Tree) after shave. As for the kamisori, it was just amazing how it gave a super smooth and close shave, a little aggressive, but this is something common to every Damasteel blade. The symmetrical kamisori gives the easeness of using both sides of the blade, even by using just one hand. Certainly easier to use than an asymmetrical kamisori, however delivering an impeccable result.
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: Meißner Tremonia Indian Flavour
  • Brush: Mastro Livi Wild Badger, Juniper Handle, 24mm knot
  • Bowl: Bamboo Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Medium Loom Strop "Coramella Italiana" and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi Odin's Eye Damasteel Symmetrical Kamisori, 11/16 Full Hollow, French Point
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Argan Oil
  • After Shave: Pino Silvestre

So raining in Perugia too mate?

I'm actually in your neck of the woods being in Firenze for a few days leaving today to travel to Roma, love the Frecciarossa especially when you book far enough in advance to get business class for the standard price :)

Sounds like a great shave - better than my travel ones !

Wow! I did not know you were in Italy! I hope you are enjoying my country and everything it has to offer.
It rained this morning in Perugia, now it is just cloudy although we are expecting more rain in the evening.
As for Frecciarossa, you are right: as I travel quite a lot because of my job I know what you mean and I always book at least two months in advance. Same for the other high speed train Italo. :)
Now I am curious to know what is your shaving set when you travel. And, by the way, too bad you could not come to Perugia and meet the greatest straight razor maker in the world. Too bad!

Crown King Switchback 400
Barrister and Mann Diamond
Seygus safety razor
Polsilver SI (2)
Speick aftershave
Lacoste Live EDT

Final shave with the Diamond before sending it back to my friend. I got a good slick lather built up with the Switchback 400 with the freshly cut grass scent in the air.

I'd put a shim in the Seygus to see if that made for a more aggressive shave and it did. Much more to my liking and a closer result followed.

I don't think I have a suitable aftershave to match this soap so I just got some Speick out for a refreshing splash after my shave. The Speick always leaves my skin feeling good.

Quick spray of the Lacoste Live EDT and I'm good for the rest of the night.

Yes I am enjoying your wonderful country!

Came via Swiss Alps and train to Tirano, then train to Milan and then Florence for a few days, now in Rome for a few days and flying home Wednesday.

My travelling shave set is -

BUT - I did manage to grab these in Firenze, I was staying just around the corner!

On vacation with family so no time for shaving related side trips - but I'm sure I will be back :)

Brush: Simpsons Duke 3 Best
Razor: Razorock Mission
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium (3)
Soap/Cream: D.R. Harris Windsor
Post/After Shave: Alum Block / T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent / Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Fragrance: L'Occitane Baux EDT
Time: Who cares I'm enjoying myself wet shaving, love making a bloody mess and clean up after I'm done.

I couldn't help myself thinking while I'm shaving as I've ordered another badger brush again today is a Semogue SOC 2 Band Finest (best) Badger Cherry Wood it only cost $120 AUD from the Stray Whisker, and this mean I've got 2 coming in the mail waiting for a Chubby 2 Best and the Semogue SOC 2 Band. Man! I'm being a bloody bad boy again :sneaky::sneaky::sneaky::sneaky::sneaky::whistle:;)

The Semogue SOC 2 Band Finest (best) Badger in Cherry Wood is very similar to a Duke 3 best, 24mm knot at the handle, 52mm loft measured from the metal ring comes with a 57mm length wooden handle, oil finished and the weight is 53 grams.

Preshave: Proraso Red
Razor: Standard
Blade: Feather(1)
Brush: Simpsons Commodore X2
Soap: Razorock XXX(Thanks @Psmith )
Post Shave: Razorock Lime balm and Malizia Uomo Vetyver AS
Three pass shave. First use of the XXX soap and I have to say I really like the scent. Fresh and like an Italian cologne. Lathers easily and performs at a high standard with slickness and cushion at a good level. Very happy with this soap. The brush continues to bloom and I love it. The badger hair is a bit stinky wet but I expect that once I have thoroughly broken it in this should be fine. Has not lost a single hair so far. The Malizia Uomo compliments the scent of the soap so all in all a fine way to start the day.

Lest we forget!

Brush: Simpsons Persian Jar 2 best badger
Soap: Caties Bubbles Black Bergamot
Razor: Schick Injector (G-type)
Blade: Personna [3]
After-shave: Myrsol Plastic Shave

It seems to be a Simpsons day! Any connection to today I wonder...? Or simply coincidence!?! [emoji4]

Brush: Shavemac custom
Soap: Beaver Woodwright Davy Jones
Razor: Rockwell 6S #2
Blade: Voskhod (2)
Post-shave: Thayers & Jabonman Dama de Noche milk

I had a quick shave yesterday with the Beaver Woodwright soap, and wasn't totally impressed with the performance. The scent is out of this world good though. Had another go today and similar shave, not overly impressed. Thinking it may also be because of the irritation caused by the ingrowns coming after last weeks shaves. Finished with the aftershave milk from Jabonman, and this stuff is just an awesome performer. Scent I'm still not sold on, but results are too good.

SOTD (25/4/16 - Rome, Italy)

Razor:
Gillette Sensor Excel
Blade: Gillette Sensor Excel Cart (1)
Brush: Muhle Travel Synthetic
Soap/Cream: D R Harris Arlington Shave Stick
Aftershave: Floid Vigoroso

Much better shave with a new cart, raining here in Rome so sightseeing will be unpleasant :(

Picture below is the memorial at Tyne Cot we recently visited -

A beautiful Belgium day, but so many graves -

So many fathers, sons, brothers, uncles who paid the ultimate sacrifice (names on Menin Gate - no known graves) -

Lest we forget.

Razor: Merkur 34C
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Sterling synthetic 22mm
Soap: Shaver Heaven - Summer Breeze
Post-shave: Alum, Proraso Splash

Three pass shave, new blade, in hindsight I probably should have changed the blade last shave. I want to try out different soaps but it's just so hard to go past Shaver Heaven as they lather beautifully even in my unskilled hands.

Lest we Forget
