I really look forward to your SOTD's @Draco Noir. From a well thought out photo to a terrifically written account off the shave. Wonderful shave!

Thank you very much @Normie - I'm flattered. You have been churning out excellent SOTDs yourself which I always enjoy. I really like hearing about your trials and successes, and seeing you learning from your ups and downs. Keep at it mate, you are making incredible progress!

Proraso Green has been stashed-away until Spring/Summer time - Its probably a bit too cooling for me during the colder months and there's plenty of other products to use. The good thing about Super-Max Menthol, is that it is a very subtle menthol - slightly cooling and very refreshing, so I could easily use it anytime of the year. Its thin, but holds-up well for multiple passes (as long you use plenty of product). This is only a budget cream, but I must say, it punches way above its weight - today it delivered a sensational shave. I had so much lather, that even after 3 passes, I just continued touching-up until my face felt super smooth. Lather Shot can be seen here. No irritation and my face feels great. Completely Sensational !!

Happy Shaving Everyone !!!

Pre: Shower/ Face wash
Soap: Sudsy Soapery 'Citrus & Bay'
Brush: Simpsons Chubby 2 'Pure'
Razor: 6/8 Friodur Inox (newly acquired)
Post: Alum, Thayers Cucumber and SH Drogon Noir AB

Beautiful this morning. It was the first shave today with the new razor, as expected it performed amazing slicing through 3 days growth while singing away with each stroke.
The soap is still a big bang for small bucks, lathered up well and gave great glide for the straight, plus a great post shave feeling as well.
Then to finish up this great was the usual bunch of goodies which put the cherry on top.(y)

Enjoy your next shaves gents.

Pre: GFT lime skin food
Brush: Shavemac 177
Soap: Antiga Barbearia Di Bairro
Razor: iKon B1 slant
Blade: Timor solingen
Post: alum, witch hazel, Myrsol balsamic water

First go at this soap. This soap's scent reminds me of my visit to the barber shop when I was a kid. Traditional but yet somewhat modern contemporary... Hope that makes sense. It doesn't feel out of place. Performed reasonably well as well. Managed a smooth shave with the slant. Well partially also because I am using a milder blade. Wasn't as close shaved as I hoped to be. I still need to learn more about this soap's characteristics.

Finished off with a splash of the balsamic water. It seriously does have that balsamic vinegar like scent to it. Amazing stuff.

Top outing with cold hard steel tonight. I was quite adventurous tonight considering the great Russo - Japanese war of 1904. I have always battled with asymmetrical style blades and yet they give amazing shaves. @Draco Noir kindly sent me a beautiful specimen that he expertly honed for my enjoyment. I always feel I'm back in shave school with these razors until I just let muscle memory kick in and the shave is dynamic. The chin and the upper lip are a bit problematic but the Russian reinforcement was standing by and an obvious treaty was reach because between the Japanese and the Russians I had a great shave.

Scuttle lather with a horse hair brush. Lather was decadently warm till the end of the shave. Didn't collapse and gave lathery goodness for all required times.
Soap was my Tallow version which is close to finished so looks like I either brew beer or make soap this weekend - or do both?
DFS and not a tiny bit of blood or irritation.

Razor: Gillette 'Fatboy' Adjustable (5)
Blade: Vintage Schick Superior Platinum (6)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Culmak reknotted with TGN Finest
Soap/Cream: Mike's Natural Shaving Soaps - Barbershop
Aftershave: AoS Sandalwood Gel

I know, I know - where is the Myrsol, right [well actually, nobody really cares I'm just talking to myself here]

Well when the shave is being undertaken pre-5:00am (let's say around 4:40 ish) you a) don't spend a whole lot of time making lather (sorry @alfredus) and b) just grab the aftershave that catches your eye when you open the drawer.

In lounge with breakfast and coffee on board so semi-human at this point. Enjoy your Friday gents!

That's just what the doctor ordered. Lashings of this fine smelling soap for a super slick shave from the mamba. Still feeling a bit of a mild one but just getting in the groove before using something sharper.

Oh no!

I was looking longing at my SV70th staring at me from the shelf in my bathroom this morning. I had to ignore it and stick with my May commitment to Mike's barbershop and then you post this! Just what the doctor DIDN'T order for me - [sigh] sounds like a lovely shave ...

Such a lovely smell. Go on Mark. Open the lid and have a smell [emoji12]

Maybe a little test lather? For the lather thread.

You owe it to yourself. How many days left in May.

I'm already interstate about 700kms from home, so no smells soon, maybe tonight. A little test lather wouldn't hurt would it?

Surely if no lather touches my face I'm not using another soap ... ;)

You want me to channel my inner Bill Clinton don't you!

NO!!!

I will be strong :)

I feel it's only fair you keep posting those butterscotch brushes.

Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
Blade: Personna Med Prep
Brush: Shavemac 177
Soap: Mystic Water Teakwood and Cardamom( May Madness)
Post Shave: Top Seven Emulsion and Alt Innsbruck Cologne
Three pass shave. Smooth and soft is the face feel. The Top Seven emulsion is a better post shave balm rather than a preshave. Leaves the face soft and supple. Light scent that dissipates . Ahh the Alt Innsbruck, what a way to finish. Ready for lunch.

Copy Cat...

Face Wash : Shower
Pre-Shave : Trumper Lime Skin Food
Brush : Simpson's Chubby 1
Soap : Sudsy Soapery Citrus & Bay
Razor : Henckels Friodur Inox 6/8
After Shave : Top Seven Emulsion, Hanae Mori "Him" AS

Today's shave is dedicated to @Reegs - looking at his latest SOTD I saw a few things that are personal favourites and was inspired to follow suit.

I started with a different prep today - I have a bottle of Trumpers Lime Skin Food which I don't like much as an aftershave product, so I decided to test their claims that it is a great pre-shave as well. Well I'm afraid I don't buy that either - it was just an expensive way to make little if any improvement to the shave. I must figure out a use for that lime-scented goop...

The Chubby brush and Sudsy Soapery soap are a wonderful combination - I agree with @Reegs comment that the soap is "big bang for small bucks". I always get a very decent lather from it, and the fragrance is really something different and enjoyable. The actual shave itself was brilliant today - the Friodur is a fantastic razor, and one of the very few stainless razors that has become a genuine classic. Like @Reegs, I also love it for its very vocal performance - it really enhances the shave, hearing the whiskers getting mowed down cleanly with every stroke. Two passes got me very close to 100% BBS.

Finished off with almost the same combo as yesterday - Top Seven for skin care and Hanae Mori for smelling great. There are two after shave products from Hanae Mori which are a bit confusing - one is called "HM" and the other "HiM". I fell foul of this and accidentally ordered the wrong one at first. It turned out to be excellent, but I think I prefer "HM" over "HiM".

OK, I'm ready for the regular Friday P&C Melbourne lunch, and confident I'll pass scrutiny on the shave front :)

Happy shaving and a good weekend to all of you guys!

How do you use the takraw in your shave?
Are you juggling it with your feet while you shave, or do you use it in some kind of skin softening technique?

I should have guessed that you would know what it was Egg... Well, like the elite takraw players I do a couple of static drills with it while shaving. The first is to balance the takraw on the top of the chest just above the sternum, ready to drop onto a knee, and the second is to balance it on the forehead ready to drop onto the dominant foot. And all of this without disrupting the rhythm of the shave. It's a great technique booster - you would love it :sneaky::whistle::)

Blade trial shave - Rockwell blade, Timor blade, and Shark Super Chrome
Soap & balm: Eufros Bisente de Orient (or something similar)
Razor: Rockwell 6S #2
Brush: WD 24mm Synth
Post: Thayers, Myrsol Balsalmica

So thought I would take the Rockwell razor blades for a run today. Got through three WTG strokes on the right cheek, and tapped out. Heaps of tugging. I'm not patient with blades, as the several I love are great from first use, and cheap enough. So no real need to persist with something that's going to give a crap shave. I swapped them out for a Timor blade.

Whilst the Timor blade was sharper and smoother, it was still tugging a bit. Changed it out after a full pass and threw caution to the wind and tried a shark SC for the first time.

Another step up in sharpness, around the same smoothness. Not a blade that I would rave about, but completed the shave with it. Slight irritation post shave from the first pass, but soothed with post shave goodies.

After today's blade trial, I can see straights coming in June!

@Korbz how you're Rockwell 6s coming along and it looks like you've been using this a lot as part of your every shave all the time, it seem this is you're prefer razor at all times because you seem very very happy with your Rockwell 6s razor very much are you using a different handle or are you using the Rockwell handle.

Cheers ;) I'm still waiting for mine to come too
