Shave of the Day Thread - 2016

Best shaving razor I have (talking to performance, not finish quality). I've swapped the handle out for a Weber wave once or twice, though I do like the Rockwell handle.

I've used the 34c and ikon 102 a few times in the recent weeks, but find myself drawn back to the Rockwell.

You'll love it I think when it arrives.

Pre-Shave: Occams pre-shave soap, cold water
Razor: BBS-1
Blade: Ladas (2)
Brush: Nathan Clark Envy White
Lather: Mystic Water
Post-shave: Alum, Barrister & Man Kyovu Original, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Loved my last shave so much - I just had to repeat it. Nothing to add, except this is one of my all time favourite shaves - and yes I do have quiet a few of them :D

Lather was again heavenly - the brush has now lost all its funk and is just performing - picture in the lather section.

Another great photo @alfredus - you are setting a high standard these days. And really developing your own style with both the composition and the post-processing :)

Oh, and nice shave (again) - sounds like you are really "in the zone" at the moment. Must be karma at work ;)

Copy Cat...

Face Wash : Shower
Pre-Shave : Trumper Lime Skin Food
Brush : Simpson's Chubby 1
Soap : Sudsy Soapery Citrus & Bay
Razor : Henckels Friodur Inox 6/8
After Shave : Top Seven Emulsion, Hanae Mori "Him" AS

Today's shave is dedicated to @Reegs - looking at his latest SOTD I saw a few things that are personal favourites and was inspired to follow suit.

I started with a different prep today - I have a bottle of Trumpers Lime Skin Food which I don't like much as an aftershave product, so I decided to test their claims that it is a great pre-shave as well. Well I'm afraid I don't buy that either - it was just an expensive way to make little if any improvement to the shave. I must figure out a use for that lime-scented goop...

The Chubby brush and Sudsy Soapery soap are a wonderful combination - I agree with @Reegs comment that the soap is "big bang for small bucks". I always get a very decent lather from it, and the fragrance is really something different and enjoyable. The actual shave itself was brilliant today - the Friodur is a fantastic razor, and one of the very few stainless razors that has become a genuine classic. Like @Reegs, I also love it for its very vocal performance - it really enhances the shave, hearing the whiskers getting mowed down cleanly with every stroke. Two passes got me very close to 100% BBS.

Finished off with almost the same combo as yesterday - Top Seven for skin care and Hanae Mori for smelling great. There are two after shave products from Hanae Mori which are a bit confusing - one is called "HM" and the other "HiM". I fell foul of this and accidentally ordered the wrong one at first. It turned out to be excellent, but I think I prefer "HM" over "HiM".

OK, I'm ready for the regular Friday P&C Melbourne lunch, and confident I'll pass scrutiny on the shave front :)

Happy shaving and a good weekend to all of you guys!
Cheers @Draco Noir, I feel very honoured and humbled.
And that's a beautiful razor by the way:)

Thank you my friend you're too kind!

One of these days I have to come over and marvel at your takraw skills during your shave routine - or was it the other way round [emoji1]

Razor: Gillette 'Fatboy' Adjustable (5)
Blade: Vintage Schick Superior Platinum (7)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson AS2
Soap/Cream: Mike's Natural Shaving Soaps - Barbershop
Aftershave: Floid Vigoroso

I have no idea what possessed me to grab the Floid this morning - but it did confirm that this has to go. Three weeks straight in Europe with it has wrecked it for me I think. Might put a large sample in PCTB4 (it is a great aftershave - trust me!) but it is out of the rotation I'm afraid.

As far out of the rotation as to make it onto the high street for sale section?

Razor: Rockwell 6S (3)
Blade: GSB (2)
Soap: Shaver Heaven Peppermint Plus
Brush: Simpson Duke 2 "Pure"
After: Alum, Nivea splash

Good shave this morning, did a 3 pass (W,X,X). The GSB is definitely better suited to the Rockwell and my face.
No tugging, and generally a nice shave. Starting to wonder how I managed to use Proraso green exclusively for as long as I did...
Will be very exciting for us May Madness folk come the first of June! (y)

Soap: Stirling Spice
Razor: Rockwell 6S #2
Brush: Shavemac custom
Post: Thayers and Myrsol F/extra
Blade: polsilver Si

So decided to ditch the shark sc as I still have tons of blades to trial. For some reason I decided to try the polsi again after a very long break away (wasn't a favourite in the 34c or 37c). Well in the Rockwell it felt like a totally different blade. Very smooth and sharp. I will certainly leave this one in for the next few days and see how it fairs.

SOTD: Getting ready for the Lodge tonight
Brush: Semogue 1800
Razor: Razorock Mission
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
Soap/Cream: D.R. Harris Windsor
Post/After Shave: Alum Block / T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent / Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream
Fragrance: L'Occitane Baux

I've decided to give my Semogue SOC 2 Band Finest Badger a complete rest to let it completely dry out as the knot getting a bit damp, otherwise I could damage the brush so this baby need a complete rest so far so good and enjoying the Semogue SOC 2 Band Finest Badger ;)

Beautiful Thater 2-band - congratulations!

Looking forward hearing your thoughts [emoji106]

Well shave 1 down and the things that jump out at me from the first use are:

- it lathers very quickly. It loaded the English fern and had dense lather in surprising time. Certainly not a later hog.
- the handle felt good in the hand. Grip felt secure. Only criticism could be your fingers get close to the business end and this thing is a lather monster.
-the bulb shape knot feels full. Not Simpson dense but with the bulb shape, loft and springiness it doesn't make you feel it's lacking. The feedback of the individual hairs massaging your face is rewarding.

Lastly when Peach took delivery, the sender didn't seem to take much care. A single toilet roll in a plastic bag is hardly a way to ship an expensive brush. Thankfully after 4 Palm lathers to thoroughly clean it and my shave I can say it's not a shedder.

So stay tuned as this story unfolds [emoji106]

Razor: EJ DE86
Blade: GSB(3)
Brush: EJ Best Badger
Soap: Proraso Green(May Madness)
After: TN Dickinson WH with Aloe Vera

Saturday morning shave with about 2 1/2 days of whiskers to mow. The GSB still did a good job, probably has another shave in it but was tugging a bit at times so I'll see how it goes. Ended up a near DFS so no complaints :)

Peach gets to use it tomorrow :) Isn't that right, @Young Buck ?
