Well done for your first go with the standard. It is light so fight the temptation to apply pressure. Trust the razor and your technique and remeber no pressure. Take your time and enjoy.
Thanks! I will do. It was so light, i applied a little more pressure than usual.
Thanks for the tip!
Likewise, thanks @Osman my Standard razor arrived the other day via the mass drop deal.

I like the longer post, as someone who is still very new to wet shaving it really helps fast track my learning curve being able to benefit from other people's experience. I also find it's a great way to really analyse the good and not so good bits of your last shave. I may or may not be in the minority but for me at this stage of my wet shaving journey, I find these sorts of posts invaluable. Keep it up @silver! (y)
Cheers @saku39 reading about your kami journey is pretty fun too!
Tempted to try it someday.

Some guys tend to apply pressure when using light razors, like the Standard, and that might lead to razor burn. Apply some light touch. Try some different blades until you find that sweet spot. I have no doubt that you will get silky comfortable and superb shaves from it very soon.
Journey of blade search!
But first, some jabonmanlove tomorrow. Great lather = great shave.

Pre: Musgo Real Lime Oil Glycerin Soap
Brush: Savile Row 3824
Soap: Shaver Heaven Arctic Mango Tallow V2
Razor: Feather AS-D2
Blade: Feather (1)
Post: Alum Block
Balm: Shaver Heaven Forbidden Forest
Cologne: DR Harris Mayfair

First time I've shaved with a Shaver Heaven Soap. @Anthony - you have a seriously good product in the Arctic Mango Tallow V2 soap.
It is right up there. Lather, cushioning, slickness, scent and face feel all top notch; and to top it off, a touch of menthol - great work. Brilliant to have such an excellent home-grown product. Congratulations.
Also impressed with first application of the Shaver Heaven Balm.

I am grateful to the members of this Forum for putting me onto such a good range of products.

@Mark1966 - I've shown the Huon pine soap holders we were discussing earlier in the photo below alongside the jar of Arctic Mango. The larger (rectangular) holders is largely obscured by the dark soap bar; the smaller square holder is holding the alum block.

Mastro Livi CarboInox Snake Razor, 8/8 Full Hollow, Snake Point

Today in Italy it is national day and we are celebrating the republic day, so today's shave consisted in Italian shaving items only. Every item has been made in Italy, a tribute to all those Italians who gave their life and ideals, who fought in the hope to give us a better Country and a better place to live in. Italy certainly is not the best country in the world - as I believe there is no best country in the world as each one has its wonderful things to share and to give, after all we are living in a wonderful world if we only could respect it and everyone better - however Italy is an amazing country rich in astonishing beauty, unsurpassed art and history, breathtaking views, luscious food and wonderful wines, elegant lifestyle marked by our "worldwide well known and appreciated" Italian style and fashion, traditions and culture, this country gave birth to marvelous geniuses, craftsmen and artists. Viva l'Italia! (Long live Italy!)

The terrible cart I used in my Sensor Excel last time was my last Sensor cart - so my first attempt with my replacement travel razor!

A little rough and ready on the first pass, second slightly better. These are cheaper than the Excels and maybe I'm discovering why. Watch this space for updates!

An unprecedented 3rd shave on the Feather! Usually they never last more than 2 shaves.

Also I was finally able to go back to this soap after getting burnt out during the May Madness challenge.

Blade: London bridge *?
Brush: Omega 10005
Soap/Cream: Proraso green soap
Aftershave: Floid Vigoroso

Nearly tried the vintage Colgate shave stick that came with a traveler set I bought ages back, but I realised scent is far more important too me than investigative lathering of NOS soaps for you mob.
So went back to the tried and tested green stuff for another great shave.

Surprised to see @Mark1966 persevering with the Floid.

Preshave: PAA Ice soap and Proraso Red preshave cream
Razor: Standard
Blade: Feather(2)
Brush: Shavemac 177
Soap: Martin de Candre Fougere
Post Shave: Thayers Lemon Witchhazel , Gummy balm, Fine American Blend and YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme.
Three pass shave with a fougere theme today. I have missed my MdC, it is a stunning scent and soap. The Feather did a wonderful job in the Standard razor to give me a BBS result. The YSL EDT went on a few hours after the shave.

I was so excited when a NOS 1950's straight razor arrived the other day - until - I had a good look. The blade had a definite bow in the spine. Such a bummer. Most on here have heard of the "gentle persuader" commonly know as the hammer. Tempered steel is very hard and can be brittle but as it stood the razor looked great but totally useless, so what the heck. I used a piece of wood as the pounding implement and after many thumps in the razor's back the spine started to straighten. It took me about 10 minutes of hammering and looking before I was satisfied the spine was as straight as I could get it with my hi tech straightening tools. The next quest - would it hone. It set a great bevel on the 1k but was a little uneven. It honed quickly and finished nicely so I stropped it and used it tonight.

Razor: The one the Russian factory rejected in the '50's
Soap: My tallow/Emu oil and clay concoction.
Brush: Synthetic

The moment I put the blade to my face I knew it was a definite ugly duckling turned into a swan.
Three days growth gone with no sensation of whiskers being removed. So smooth.

DFS+ with no irritation.

Come on @bald as. Get the old light box out and give us some pictures!

Thank you, sir! I am glad to read about your appreciation. This CarboInox Mastro Livi Snake Razor is a masterpiece of which I am very proud of also for the fact I personally watched it making. And filmed it, too. Thank you.

The RazorGuy

It is truly a masterpiece, I would love to see the film of it being made, incredible piece of workmanship. (y)

Soap: Jabonman Brisa de Oriente
A/S: Jabonman Brisa de Oriente

As always a great shave with the Jabonman soap. The scent of the Brisa de Oriente is just fantastic. I really don't think that there's a nicer smelling soap around, certainly none I've tried.
What's the scent like for Brisa de Oriente?

Can't you tell from the name?
It might as well be pixies and fairy dust!

I think I have heard it explained as spiced wine.
