Yes @Lifes a Peach I to have a healthy respect for the feather blade. Tried it in the Edwin Jagger and no good. In the Standard it just works. With no pressure and the efficiency of the Standard razor with two passes I have an excellent, close shave with no irritation. While I was a little hesitant to try the feather blade in this efficient razar I took @Lifes a Peach advice and it was a revelation. Hasn't led me astray yet.

Cold water shave
Soap: Shaver heaven Vetiver & Neroli
Brush: Edwin Jagger badger
Face lather
Razor: Gold Dollar 6/8

I made the comment after my last shave with this razor that it wasn't "cutting the mustard" and @bald as PM'ed me suggesting I try a few things but his suggestion that did the trick was getting that bevel set properly. Bevel set properly this time (took a bit longer to get where I wanted it), progressed through the stones finishing with a good amount of laps on the linen and leather strops resulted in a much better performance from the blade today.

Though I prefer @Anthony's straight-up Vetiver, I've only got half a tub left against 1.5 tubs of Vetiver & Neroli, So preserving "my stash" I went for Neroli version; still a good soap but lacks that "in ya face" scent.

3 passes, no nicks, DFS finished with a bit of Soap Commander balm.

@silver as long as you used just warm water only for badger and boar also make sure you only soak it just a few millimeters below the handle so you don't damage the knot epoxy glue, and your brush should last a lifetime if you look after your brush with great extra care.

Sorry I've missed one word that wasn't included sooner sorry about that ;)

Brush: SOC boar
Razor: Kamisori - western grind (on loan from @Draco Noir)
Soap: Shaver Heaven - Diamonds & Pearls
Post shave: Alum, Diamonds & Pearls balm

Fifth shave with the Kami and I finally achieved a nick free shave I've been chasing! I stuck to the WTG and XTG passes which seems to working really nicely with my current skill level. I found the far sides of my neck which had previously given me problems a lot easier this shave. Still had some issues under the chin/jawline but it's getting slightly easier to navigate with every shave.

Achieving a nick free shave has given me an immense feeling of satisfaction, hopefully I'll be able to consolidate on this shave and keep on improving. Big thanks to @Draco Noir as without his knowledge and guidance there is no way I would have achieved a nick free shave so quickly. :D

Another honing day for the fun of it. I'm trying to teach myself the Coticule I recently got so ended up honing two razors on different stones. The result was very similar so I'm well pleased.
While honing I made my version of the supposed clone version of MDC - without the long wait in the south wing of the château. Excellent soap, even a blind man without a brush could get a great lather. My only variation was to add 1.5% Lanolin to the mix. This took plenty of water and seemed great with the straight razor.
2 passes WTG and a definite solid DFS.
Comparison of two straights on different hones with very satisfying results.

Silver's Synth Sunday

First go with the Arctique. The soap is very different from what I have used. It's very goopy to start with, I added a lot of water to the soap. I guess that's probably why I achieved such slick lather. Lather Shots. Will sure isn't kidding about the inhumane amount of menthol. Throughout the whole shave there were moments when my eyes started to tear a little. Plus the amazing Melbourne winter today, it's ultra cold. It's an extreme soap for sure. Not for everyday. I like it though.

Standard razor is amazing. Glided through all the whiskers with the help from tonight's amazing lather. Next blade is the Feather as @Lifes a Peach recommended it.

B&M aftershaves are really good stuff. I really like it. Another damn fine shave achieved.

Traveling with a Snake

In my usual monthly business trip, I decided to take with me a snake. A particular snake. Well, I should better say "the snake". A rare and unique masterpiece by Mastro Livi having the blade made from his well known CarboInox consisting of a stainless steel cutting layer and the outer layers made from Mastro Livi twisted carbon damascus steel. He also inserted in the stainless steel layer some awesome and breathtaking carbon damascus dots, giving the blade an incredible and beautiful "dripping paint" effect. As for the shave, this beautiful straight razor is keen like a snake giving a very close and super smooth shave. The incomparable refreshing and finishing touch of Floïd Blue gave me the most luxurious shave.

Yeah, I COULD have found a way but didn't have time as we were going out for breakfast...

Brush: Plisson

Soap: Caties Bubbles Waterlyptus

Razor: Fatip Grande

Blade: Personna Blue Comfort Coated formerly Lab blue but in white wrapper made in usa blade of mystery

Aftershave: Thayers Lemon, Fine American Blend

Balm: Shaver Heaven Barbershop

Trying something a bit different this week. The Fatip is great for a Monday morning, but I rarely use it a second time as it's quite aggressive. My normal weekday Razor has been something less agressive, like a EJ DE89, doing a standard 3 pass shave whilst simulatanetously justifying my username on here.

Given the closeness of this mornings shave, I'll try the Fatip each day this week, but only do two passes to see if it keeps irritation at bay.

Aftershave combo didn't match the soap in any way, nor did it match my cologne afterwards. In fact, nothing matched throughout. Still, a BBS shave to start the week.

Face Wash : Menthol Lime Glycerine Soap
Pre-Shave : Myrsol Emulsion
Brush : Shavemac Silvertip Custom
Soap : Tim's Soap - Signature
Razor : Eirene 77 6/8" Solingen
After Shave : Alum, Witch Hazel, Speick EDT

What a start to the week!

I spent a little time yesterday afternoon honing a couple of straights I hadn't caught up with yet. One was the Eirene 77 shown above. I already knew the razor was a very high quality hunk of hard Solingen steel, and chose the Jnats I thought most suitable for the job. Somehow I managed to produce the sharpest edge I've ever put on s straight - when doing the Hanging Hair Test, the hair almost "popped" when it touched the razor's edge. Fortunately I kept notes on the stones used etc, so hopefully I can duplicate the result on other German straights...

To the shave... A beautful lather was easily created by face lathering the Tim's Signature, using the Shavemac brush. I kept adding a little water until the lather had the bubble free luminescent gloss that you guys over at the Lather Shots thread prize so highly (and with good reason). And then the moment of truth : from the very first stroke with the razor, I knew I was in for an amazing shave. The razor just blew the stubble away like you wouldn't believe. I was able to shave with the feather lightest of strokes, and apart from the vibrant acoustic feedback there was very little to suggest that whiskers were being cut in their hundreds. Things got even better with XTG and ATG strokes in the 2nd pass - with no resistance to the razor it cut totally smoothly and I didn't get the feeling at any stage that I might nick myself. I ended up with a very smooth result and feeling very satisfied.

The usual suspects handled the finish, except for the Speick EDT. The jury is still out on the EDT : I really like the fragrance of all the other Speick products, but this one I'm not sure about...

Happy shaving all :)
