Face Wash : Menthol Lime Glycerine Soap
Pre-Shave : Myrsol Emulsion
Brush : Shavemac Silvertip Custom
Soap : Tim's Soap - Signature
Razor : Eirene 77 6/8" Solingen
After Shave : Alum, Witch Hazel, Speick EDT

What a start to the week!

I spent a little time yesterday afternoon honing a couple of straights I hadn't caught up with yet. One was the Eirene 77 shown above. I already knew the razor was a very high quality hunk of hard Solingen steel, and chose the Jnats I thought most suitable for the job. Somehow I managed to produce the sharpest edge I've ever put on s straight - when doing the Hanging Hair Test, the hair almost "popped" when it touched the razor's edge. Fortunately I kept notes on the stones used etc, so hopefully I can duplicate the result on other German straights...

To the shave... A beautful lather was easily created by face lathering the Tim's Signature, using the Shavemac brush. I kept adding a little water until the lather had the bubble free luminescent gloss that you guys over at the Lather Shots thread prize so highly (and with good reason). And then the moment of truth : from the very first stroke with the razor, I knew I was in for an amazing shave. The razor just blew the stubble away like you wouldn't believe. I was able to shave with the feather lightest of strokes, and apart from the vibrant acoustic feedback there was very little to suggest that whiskers were being cut in their hundreds. Things got even better with XTG and ATG strokes in the 2nd pass - with no resistance to the razor it cut totally smoothly and I didn't get the feeling at any stage that I might nick myself. I ended up with a very smooth result and feeling very satisfied.

The usual suspects handled the finish, except for the Speick EDT. The jury is still out on the EDT : I really like the fragrance of all the other Speick products, but this one I'm not sure about...

Happy shaving all :)
Nice one, @Draco Noir - I know what you mean about the Speick EDT. It has a spicy pungency that is different from the aftershave and soap. But give it a few more runs - I did and grew to like it.

Pre-Shave: Occams pre-shave soap, cold water
Razor: Wolfman SB-P WRH2
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Brush: Nathan Clark Envy White
Lather: bald as & alfredus Savon #1
Post-shave: Alum, Barrister & Man Kyovu Original, Australian Emu Oil

Finally time to test out the soap @bald as and I made a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately I have to agree with his assessment - it lacks a bit of slickness...what a shame, because the scent is really nice and the lather/cushion looked perfect - as you can see from the lather picture. I guess you can't win them all...

Having said that, it was all in all a beautiful shave - the Wolfman played definitely a great role in that (y)

I hear all trees in SA have a Wolfman growing on them. You just need to know where to look.

If I'm not mistaken, that tree in @alfredus 's photo is a money tree. Growing one in your front yard is meant to bring you fortune. It hasn't done anything for my bank balance :(

Lovely photo, @alfredus (y)

Razor: EJ DE86
Blade: Voskhod (2)
Brush: EJ Best Badger
Soap: WSP Rustic Shave Soap (Barbershop)
After: TN Dickinson WH with Aloe Vera

Working up a great lather with the WSP, really nice slickness and post-shave feel. Another DFS from the Voskhod but two's the limit, so I'll bin this one now.

Razor: - Rockwell 6s #1
Blade: - Polsilver Super Iridium (1)
Brush: - Simpson Chubby 2 Best Badger
Soap/Cream: - Haslinger Sheeps Milk & Lanolin (very similar to MWF)
Post Shave: - Alum Block / T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent / Natio Maximum Razor Relief Healing Lotion

Another quick 2 pass shave tonight and it bloody freezing which I'm having some trouble keeping myself dead still as a rock, suddenly I got copped with 3 small minor nick on the neck area because the Rockwell 6s is quite heavy against all the others razor I've own. I've got a bad feeling about this Rockwell is becoming my most favorite go razor of all times against my most deepest favorite RazoRock Mission razor, darn! Gareth Everard & Morgan Nordstrom why are you doing this too me you dirty devil (y);):)

Cold water shave - got down to 11 degrees C this morning - that's the Townsville Winter over for another year
Soap: Shaver Heaven Vetiver & Neroli
Brush: Edwin Jagger badger
Face lather
Razor: Dovo Inox 5/8 with Pearlex scales

Honed this straight on the weekend for a beautiful shave today. One small nick on the chin (must have been shivering in the cold). Shaver Heaven (blue tub) lathered up rich & slick. Excellent start to the day.

Pre: GFT Lime skin food
Brush: Rudy Vey Shavemac 2band
Soap: MdC
Razor: iKon B1 OSS
Blade: PSI
Post: Alum, witch hazel, Myrsol Agua Balsamica

Today's shave was a bit raw. Achieved decent lather , but I think the iKon OSS is more way more aggressive than the Standard which I have been using for the past few days. IMO, the OC part of it really doesn't agree with my skin in all honesty. I tend to get better (less face peeling) results, just using the Safety bar side. =S

I find that if I load longer and build the lather on the soap then transfer to my face, I get a slicker and more stable lather. Tonight's lather during the third pass highlights to me that I need to load more, as it was getting not as thick and slick as I can get MdC to be. I find that overload is definitely better than under loading a brush. If I overload, even while face lathering my dripping wet face during third pass, I'd still produce a thick slick lather that I can barely see my skin.

Also, I am using the OSS which in my collection, gives me the closest shave, at a small price to pay - some skin. I think for an everyday driver, currently my 34c and the Standard is the winner. But, I rarely skip shave day........damn...

Brush: The Duke 2 Best
Soap: Shaver Heaven - Dragon Noir Tallow
Blade: Hoshi Tombo folding kamisori, symmetrical.
Post: Thayers, PAA - CaD

Hoshi is half hollow, my first blade that isn't full hollow. The feeling of heft in the blade is strange, yet pleasing. Shortness of the Kami was nice too. I'm going to have to get another like this.

Shave wasn't the best though. BBS- but too much irritation! This is due to my poor honing sadly. The bevel is quite wide on this and I wonder if that has something to do with it because I did everything right. Checked under the scope at every stage and was good to move on. One thing though, this steel is very hard!! Very slow process on the 1k Chosera and Jnat. Even ran it on the crox with no apparent improvement. Very strange.

Which Hoshi are you using @Sxot? Folding + symmetrical = 8000 or 6500 afaik.

You are definitely correct about the "hard" part - Hoshis are about the hardest razors I've honed. They seem to respond best to softer Jnats for all the midrange work, but still expect to take plenty longer than usual to do a good sharpening job. Getting the bevel set right is critical - suggest you kill the edge completely before bevel set. That way you will be certain the edge is yours and not a false edge. If your bevel looks wide, you may need to tape the spine to tweak the angle a bit and make sure you're working on "the edge of the edge". If you go the tape route, use it for the entire process, changing it after the bevel setting work because it will have abraded and thinned a bit.

And yes, that half hollow grind really needs a very sharp edge to deliver an irritation free shave. Good luck - I hope you manage to get it sorted, because a great shave is certainly possible :)

Pre: Blind Barber Facewash
Brush: Simpson Commodore X2 Best
Soap: Shaver Heaven Drogon Noir
Razor: iKon DLC Slant (The Dark Knight)
Blade: PSI (1)
Post: Myrsol Formula C

A little heavy handed with The Dark Knight led to a few weepers on the ATG on my neck. I think this razor is one that rewards more constant use as the angle and weight takes a little readjusting to.

Only certain ones grow Wolfman and you have to look very hard for them :D

Lovely photo, @alfredus (y)
I think the tree is called Jade - and surely after 6 months on sabbatical the one in your front yard has done its deed ;)

Thank you my friend - really appreciate it (y)

Razor: Gillette 'Fatboy' Adjustable (5)
Blade: Vintage Schick Superior Platinum (6)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson 'The Duke'
Soap/Cream: D R Harris Marlborough Shave Soap
Aftershave: AoS Sandalwood Aftershave Gel

Never take a good shave for granted

Gillette Slim
Feather Blade
Simpson Polo 8 Best
PAA Sangre De Drago

So the scent has finally emerged & I'm not all that enamoured with it. It's simple & inoffensive. The performance of the soap is awesome though so with that combination, I'll use this till the end but am unlikely to repurchase.

Anyone else find that a great shave just sets them up for the day ahead?

Quite a pleasant three pass shave. Lovely scent and excellent performance from the Shaver Heaven soap. A great shave and I am in agreement with @Hocky27 , I am set for the day ahead.

I've lost count of the number of times I've used the London Bridge blade now, but worked out I started using it on 12th May so that means I've used it at least 13 times.
Slim, 10005, Proraso green soap, Floid vigoroso.
