Pre: GFT lime skin food
Brush: Wolfwhiskers
Soap: Stirling Ozark Mountain
Razor: ATT S1
Blade: PSI
Post: alum, witch hazel, Myrsol Plastic Shave

Lather was a little lack luster today. I have to remember that the synth doesn't hold as much water as the badgers. I think I'll be using this set up for the next few days.

Shave however was relatively still good, despite not getting the usual slickness. It's still slick, just not as slick as it can be. Wonderful razor, lovely slant. I think I might kick it up a notch eventually and load a Feather in it.

I only have two Myrsol, Agua Balsamica and the Plastic Shave. I love the AB for its scent and soothing capabilities, and the plastic shave for its excellent face feel upon application.

Wonderful Thursday night shave. I wanted to use a bay rum, just need to order it from Stirling in the future.

3P preshave
Rubberset 49-3
Razorock SoZ
Cobra Classic
Feather Pro (8)
Fine L'Orange Noir

The blade felt tuggy after the first pass so went and found a pro guard blade. After a bit of a struggle to get the thicker blade in the cobra the shave was better but I still don't like the guard blades.

Pre:Occam's Original Pre-Shave Soap
Brush:Occam Silvertip
Razor:Progress,3.5,Feather
Soap: Razor Rock 'XXX'
Post: Chatillion Lux 'Delor de Treget'

A nice fresh feel on this cold, windy morning with plenty of moisturisation from the Chatillion Lux salve after the drying effects of the XXX. A nice soap but far from one of my favorites, reasonable performance but nothing to write home about save for the pleasant scent. 2 pass WTG and XTG for great results. TGIF in so few words ;)

@bald as - G'day Steve. You are on the money, Mate. It is a custom higonokami. The scales are copper, and the blade is custom-forged Aogami super steel (Hitachi Blue #2).

Whoah, wait up a moment there @TomG :) I'd like to know lots more about that little puppy please mate - who made it? When? How did it find a home with you? How does it shave? I know how awesome Aogami Super is - some of my finest Japanese kitchen knives are made from it, and it takes and holds an absolutely exceptional edge.

Anything more you can tell would be fascinating mate! Thanks (y)

Razor - English Tech J-4 1989
Blade - Aussie Spoiler E-2 1984
Cream - Scentless Old Spice (Squeezed in a tub of Cella)
Aftershave - Vintage Aqua Velva Ice Blue (Ohhhhhhhh yeah)

3 pass + touch up for a very comfortable BSS.

Note: I like to shave before the gym, I secretly wish that some lady will ask 'What parfum do you wear?' and I'll answer 'Manliness.'

Preshave: Musgo Real Glyce Soap
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
Blade: Polsilver SI
Brush: Maggards Synthetic
Soap: Latha
Post Shave: TSW balm and Pure II Insurrection EDT
Three pass shave with no irritation and my skin continues to improve. Finished off with a clone of Creed Aventus, not as good as the real thing but pretty close and at a fraction of the cost

Sword: Schick L-Type
Suds: Gent's #3 / Omega S
Salve: Dickinson's Witch Hazel

Last shave before I move to my new place and it was an absolute belter! About 3.5 mins, go to whoa, for two sublime passes and one of the best shaves of my life.

3.5min and I'm just about done loading the brush and ready to move to face lathering...

Pre: Prorasso Red

Strop: Kanoyama #30'000 ( I see the prices on these are on the rise. Glad I got mine when I did)
Soap: MWF (Brand new puck - noticed the scent was lower than on the old one. Maybe it needs time to "release"?)

@Draco Noir - thanks for interest. I have to confess that it is not designed for shaving, although it is certainly sharp enough to do so. As you probably know, a higonokami is a traditional Japanese folding knife. Not so much a kitchen knife as a utility knife. Though like you, I have several Aogami Super knifes in my kitchen arsenal. I ordered the higonokami direct from the Blacksmith in Seki. I've a few more interesting pieces, and will slip into photos in the future. Cheers.

Sorry guys, no photos today but had a great shave last night. Sonnal 11/16 - I think it is a Japanese blade but could be wrong. Normally I hone this blade on my Jnat but went to my C12k with 3k synthetic slurry, 8k synthetic slurry followed by 10k synthetic slurry all on the C12k and then finished on my Coticule with baby oil. Stunning. Very keen and really smooth. My Coticule with oil is remarkable. No slurry on the Coti and all the heavy lifting is done prior to the Coticule.

Razor:Sonnal 11/16
Brush 24mm re knotted Horse hair
Soap: Tallow, Coconut, Shea, Castor made last weekend
Post: Macadamia nut oil with Lemon Myrtle

Interesting. I've never heard of using lower grit slurries on a synthetic. But hey, it works on a natural so why not!

Pre shave: Shower
Soap: Mystic Water - Jasmin
Brush: Epsilon Vie long badger
Razor: KikuOkan 77 (On loan from @Draco Noir)
After shave: Myrsol blue

Last shave I experimented by skipping the WTG pass and jumping straight to the XTG using an asymmetrical grind folding straight razor. Curiosity got the better of me so I repeated the experiment this time using a symmetrical (western) grind razor. It was more to see if it was easier with a different style of straight razor rather than anything else. I was pleased that the ease of use and results were the same as my last SOTD so I won't bother rehashing all the details.

I've also been experimenting using a spray bottle to add water to my brush/face which has been working really well as you can see and read more about here.

Baldy, sorry for being slow but what is the C12k? I've been trying to understand what you mean by synthetic slurry - can you enlighten a bit further please mate?

Thanks :)
As far as I can recall, the C12k is a 12,000 grit stone from China (hence the C). Not 100% sure though.
