What did you think of the Night Music scent?
G'day @Nightguard, I own several B&M soaps and love them all, however to me the night music is a strange soap its very dirty if i can explain it that way messy to face lather its a MUD brown colour & consistence when lathering and adding water gets very runny and messy, i find bowl lathering far easier to get the right consistence but it always has a brown texture to it.
The scent is fantastic hard for me to explain my nose is not that good at describing scents i either like it or i don't my nose scent is burnt out from smelling JET A1 fuel for 30 years.
Performance wise i don't think its on par with the likes of seville & cheshire or any of the Latha line but exceptable and provides a good shave.

Brush: M7
Razor: RazoRock Wundabar
Blade: Gillette Black
Soap: P&B Sanskrit

Another great scent from P&B, very strong cardamom scent. Lather and shave quality is identical to Spitfire.

Tried a different approach tonight. I haven't used ARKO for quite some time and while it does make excellent lather my face is now on fire. Superb shave apart from the warm Turkish glow.

New re-knotted Horse hair brush
ARKO face fire in the RED wrapper.
2 Pass DFS+ with the Ivan.

My own blend of Honey, Brown sugar and oats scrub, EVOO for my prep and a bit of glide for the razor.

Derby Blade for something different tonight. One of my fav blades in the DE89, seems to be overlooked by most.

Another great shave with Shaver Heaven soap, brush load then bowl latger in my WA Jarrah hand made timber bowl. Still trying to get water ratio correct but getting there.

Baxters to finish off and love the soothing feeling it gives.

Set for the last 2 days of work to repeat again on Friday

I've done it !!! I've been Arko'ed.

Cold water shave
Soap: Arko the legendary or maybe infamous for crimes against shaving (depends a lot on personal preference)
Brush: Edwin Jagger badger
Face lather
Blade: Dovo 5/8 Stainless Steel with Stainless Steel scales
Post shave: Alum and Pinaud Clubman

Wet may face and applied stick thinking I am not getting enough soap on my face to build a lather. Took my wet badger and started lathering. Much to my surprise a decent lather started forming, though somewhat dry. Added water to the brush and a good lather, though still a little dry formed. A little more water and lots of thick, moist lather.

The scent. Urinal puck? Yeah, I can see why some think that though to me it was more like lemon laundry detergent or clothes ironing spray. Certainly not a soap that would be in my rotation. Great for travel though. Don't need to carry a bowl. This straight was my first wet shaving purchase, before I purchased a soap or brush even. Nice and sharp providing a great shave.

Arko? Well if the proof is in the pudding Arko provided a nick-free shave that was close and smooth. Yep, a quality soap for shaving and ideal for travel. While I didn't "keel over and die" from the scent I can't go for it. I'll use it again for the next few days to improve my technique with this soap and then banish it to my travel kit. Usability: good. Effectiveness: good. Scent: Nah, I don't think so.

Same shave this morning with the same close, nick free shave. Arko really is a great shaving assistance but that scent is just not right. This morning's shave definitely smelt more "urinal pucky" than yesterday's shave. Perhaps if I wear a peg on my nose???
Shave 3 with this combo and I continue to be impressed with Arko as a shave soap; easy to apply, easy to lather,, thick and moist lather AND it can be used as a smelling salt. If not for THAT scent, this would be the stand-out soap in the crowd. Cheap and very effective.

Once again a superb, nick free and close shave. The Dovo performed well again. If Arko comes in other scents it would be my regular soap.

Well done to @Lifes a Peach for taking the first step towards straight razor shaving. Definitely an inspiration to those of us who have not taken that step yet. Look forward to hearing about your journey and also about the new skills that you will acquire and that I may need.

Couldn't agree more, my straight razor journey has been so thoroughly enjoyable, immensely satisfying and given me a great sense of achievement that I find it really exciting to be able to follow @Lifes a Peach at the beginning of his journey.

Thank you my friends. Woke up extra early this morning to try it out again. Sooner or later my hands and face will fully cooperate with each other (y)

With a Sensai like @Draco Noir combined with some determination and persistence everything will fall into place in no time. (y)

Thanks @Osman (y) Always good to add a feather to ones cap. I'll share some experiences and thoughts as I progress. It's only day 2 but memories of the early DE days came flooding back. Liberal doses of cockiness had me grabbing for the alum block but it's all part of the learning experience.

Pre: Musgo Real Glyce Soap
Brush: Shavemac Custom 24mm 2 Band
Soap: P&B Spitfire
Razor: Gillette New Short Comb
Blade: GSB (1)
Post: Myrsol Plastic Shave

First time out with the Spitfire and I am suitably impressed. An excellent lather, as good as B&M in my opinion, and an interesting scent. Whilst I enjoyed the scent I kept imaging that it was probably what David Hasselhoff's leather pants would have smelled like in the 80s. The New gave me the usual BBS with not a hint of irritation. It is such a good razor, I feel I overlook it sometimes for the cool kids on the block (Rockwell, R41)

The name and cover image had me imagining spitfire pilots leather jackets.
Your suggestion has put me right off it.

Ditto - might not be able to use it ever again ...

Razor: ATT S1 with Wolfman WRH2 Handle
Blade: PSI

Picked the synth tonight because I came home late. I have spent a good time meeting @Draco Noir in person. Absolutely a gentleman and we spent a great deal of time talking and going through his toys. What an amazing collection.

Thanks to @Draco Noir for trading the ATT and the absolutely beautiful wolfman handle. It's nice to look at, but once you hold it in your hand, you will need a crow bar to pry it off your hands. Mastercrafted item, truly is a work of art. Handle has great heft to it, looks big but it fits into my hands perfectly. It's as if it was custom made for Silver.

How does it shave? I rate it better than my ikon, purely because I don't feel like it would bite me at any time. Acoustic feedback was excellent, but it is just so smooth on your face. Partially also because I am using the Stirling. Sorry no lather pictures today, I totally forgot. It's not the best Stirling lather I whipped up today, but it gave me a stunning two pass plus minimal touch up shave. No irritation, redness or hint of razor burn. I can shave with less focus than the ikon, faster and longer passes. It's a close shave but I did miss some bits. Just a matter of learning the razor, I'm pretty happy with it considering its only day one. [emoji1] Happy Silver

A/S: Penhaligons's Bayolea

Brilliant shave. The B&M soap was, in keeping with its stablemates, very cushioning and slick. The fragrance on first sniff reminded me a little of Tabac, but when lathered exploding into a typically complex B&M maelstrom of notes. Hard to describe, but sort of deep, rich yet fresh. I loved it. Three passes and a quick clean up, with little irritation. Very close.
The Bayolea A/S paired beautifully with the soap. This aftershave has good staying power, and is a modern fragrance with a classic background.

Biting cold (for Sydney) morning called for the Sandalwood, one of my definite winter favourites scents - deep and woody. Always a great lather from the Geo-F Cream, although ?I can't say the same for the soap post re-formulation. A nice BBS today, even with the progress dialed back more than I usually care to take it. Finished up with the smooth, soothing skin food with it's lovely sweet notes.

Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
Blade: Personna Med Prep
Brush: Simpsons Commodore X2
Soap: LPL
Post Shave: Loccitane BAVX balm and Pino EDT
Three pass shave today with no irritation and close to BBS. Skin continues to improve with use of balms. Haven't used the LPL for a while and I have missed it. Excellent lather and subtle scent provided a calming medium to shave my whiskers off.
