Blade: Feather
Soap: Shaver Heaven - Vanilla & Oak
After: Balm
AfterShave: Fine American Blend

A nice crisp morning, an enjoyable shave. Was jonesing for coffee and made a small nick under my ear due to rushing the XTG. Plenty of Cons wonder balm before a nice application of Fine American Blend - fantastic scent my only gripe being the Fine splash is just scent and alcohol with no added extras.

A/S: Real Shaving Balm
Cologne: Paco Rabanne

Really starting to enjoy this razor now that I've used it a few times and have figured out the ideal angle. It's certainly not a mild razor but once dialled in is very quick and easy to use.

That is a superb looking Razor, I have Razor envy now. Just wow!

From yesterday morning:
Razor: Rockwell 6S (3)
Blade: Gillette 7 O' Clock Black (6)
Soap: Shaver Heaven "Oatmeal Stout"
Brush: Omega Boar
After: Alum, Pinaud "Clubman"

Nice quick shave this morning. Have put a few test lathers into the new boar, and sat in front of the TV for a couple of hours dry lathering my hand.
Made for a pleasant soft shave on Saturday. Not convinced with the scent of the Oatmeal Stout, I tend to agree with @Mark1966 that it's too sweet... Performance however, is top notch! :)
The 7 O'Clock blade is still going strong. Loving the scent of the Pinaud!

Havent been posting for a while as not much changes for me these days. Been trying to finish off that @Barrister & Mann Dickens that @eggbert sent me a few years ago over the winter weather. It appears I have failed in that quest and will probably break it out again next autumn.

Razor:
E2 Fatboy (5)
Blade: La brune française Wilkinson Sword, fabriqué en Angleterre (5?)
Brush: Plissitane
Soap: The Stray Whisker '#2' sample (PAA/Crown King made)
Post: TSW 'Working Title #1' AS Spray

Well, this is not the first shave I have had with the #2, I also tried it yesterday and didn't really load properly so I got a thin, airy mixture. Today I pulled out my Muhle bowl, put some in and slowly added a lille water to get something a mile better. It did need some serious working on the face but it turned out very usable even if it did feel a little 2-dimensional. Like many samples, what you get from a sample and what you get form lathering directly off the puck or tub are two completely different things.

TBH, I never have really gone for the performance of @D_Smythe's soaps as I have always found them to lack that little bit extra in performance that most of the artisans do have. The lather can often feel a bit thin & sudsy, and there is a little less glide than most. That said the scenting of his soaps are up there with the best and in all the soaps he has produced and then I have had the opportunity to smell - I haven't had many duds hit my olfactory senses.

So what does this smell like? Well like most of Douglas' productions it is really hard to tell. There is so much going on and it is so well layered that it is hard to tell where one note stops and the next begins. The soap itself appears to be a evolution of his genre-breaking 'Dirt' scent, but this one smells very earthy, kind of dusty in comparison. This is driven by strong Vetiver note, I get the impression of familar woods that I cannot quite put my finger on (likely Sandalwood in the mix), an number of fruity blossoms and a citrus like Grapefruit. My nose also suggests that there is at least one fragrance oil in here. Lathering it up freshens the scent considerably, I get the 'Norsca' notes of fir/pine into the mix as well as a more pronounced citrus. I feel this is more of a spring scent than summer.

The concoction that @shavetheman has pulled together for this AS Spray is actually pretty good. A nice hit of Lemon Myrtle here and not much else. My feelings on the soothing contents is that it is okay but could use something else. I was waiting for a little hit of alcohol which was simply not there. Overseas shipping is problematic with ethanol but I would love some to be added if it can be kept under permitted levels.

Razor: Standard Razor
Blade: Polsilver SS
Brush: EJ Best Badger
Soap: EJ Lime & Pomegranate
After: The Stray Whisker After Balm

I'd normally use an untried blade in the DE86 but being Fathers Day and heading out for lunch, I chucked it in the Standard and attacked the 2 day growth with a bit of care.

Very sharp blade, but very smooth as well. Can certainly feel the edge with the Standard, and ended up with a few weepers after 3 passes, but a splash of alcohol sorted that out. Could really feel the menthol in the After Balm today!

Hoping all the dads in P&C have a wonderful day today!

Thank you for the fantastic scent description, it sounds like another 'busy' scent profile. Your informed comments in relation to performance from this soap maker definitely have currency from the different forums and sites I visit, it is commonly known that the soap itself performs well below average.

Like most of us I have a decent collection of soaps and creams both artisan and commercial so it will certainly be interesting to see how this latest creation stacks up in the lather bowl and more importantly on the face in relation to the other players out there.

Still dialling in the Jabonman. It wouldn't be my go to soap, but I have to admit the post shave feel is superb. The Rockwell did its excellent thing. Let's be clear, this isn't a 'good value' stainless steel razor. This is an outstanding stainless steel razor that just happens to be good value. I think it was @Korbz who said that every time he uses it he wonders why he uses anything else.

Interesting analysis of the PAA soaps @Monsta_AU. Personally I rate the PAA soaps right up there as one of my top performers. I guess that's where the DSFDF saying comes in :)

Good to know you're still in the land of the shaved @Monsta_AU . Hope to see more of your knowledgeable posting. Always good to read your thoughts on products.

Pre: Hot Shower
Razor: iKon X3 Slant
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
Brush: Omega Boar
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
After: Alum, Clubman Pinaud, TSW After Balm

First go with the X3. The angle does feel particularly small with this razor. If you get it right, the blade can hardly be felt.
Maybe it is a slant thing, but I had a small amount of trouble under the nose area again. Probably something I will get used to.
The first pass was really something, hardly felt like the razor was doing anything but there was a lot of stubble removed.
By the time I had completed my second XTG pass, I reckon I had a closer shave than with any other razor at the same point.
A small cleanup, and a DFS+ achieved! Might have used a bit too much pressure at some point, because I've got a little bit of irritation under the neck and along the jawline.
These are trouble spots for me anyway, and I think it will only take a few more shaves with this razor to eliminate that.
I can definitely see this razor becoming a clear favourite of mine in the not too distant future. I don't think it will have quite the learning curve of some other razors that I have in my artillery.
Loaded the MWF better tonight, and after watching a you tube video I gave it a little less water. Definitely seemed better tonight, and the post shave feel is quite hard to beat.

Club Razor Shave

Yet another shave with this fabulous Mastro Livi Club Razor 2016 made of CarboInox. Smooth and velvety, this wonder razor gave me a luxurious shave, no irritations with the best comfort. I am very glad I have brought with me this razor for this month's trip, not only for the fact I can enjoy this razor in shave, but also for its beauty and the expression of Mastro Livi's craftsmanship. Floïd the Genuine aftershave always proves to be a magnificent lotion giving a pleasing and refreshing sensation on the skin. It definitely is one of my favorite aftershaves ever.
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: Negozio Leggero Lavender and Hazelnut Oil
  • Brush: Omega Bristle #10275
  • Bowl: Chinese Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Travel Loom Strop and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi Club Razor 2016 CarboInox, 7/8 Full Hollow, Spanish Point
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Umbrian Extravirgin Olive Oil
  • After Shave: Floïd the Genuine

Pre: Myrsol Antesol
Brush: Shavemac 177
Soap: BWW Ghost Ship
Razor: iKon B1 Slant
Blade: GSB
Post: alum, witch hazel, TSW After Balm, Ogallala Sage and Cedar

First go with the Ghost Ship. Lather produced was pretty good. Scent is like an orange confectionery with some sandalwood to it. I enjoyed lathering it on my face.

Been a while since I have used the iKon Slant. Should reduce my angle a little. Best results achieved with less angle. Still gave me a damn good shave, just a tad raw.

It is a little busy, but I do like it and there is a definite difference to the normal scents you usually get with other makers. And yes, I really don't know what it is but the lather lacks a certain something. That said it is never over until you lather it directly on a proper full-size product as samples never really give you a good indication of a proper loading.

Absolutely. It is all coming down to how your like you lather to perform. Now I love a very glidey lather, and B&M/SH/CB all deliver that in spades. In my opinion, the PAA/CK formula lacks in comparison and I have a feeling it may be to do with the superfat level of the formula, or one of the ingredients in particular. However it does rinse very well and the scents are great. They definitely have a place in the world of wetshaving and if you are in that place too then go for it. Don't let me or anyone tell you it's no good, if you get a good result with it then tha;s great

Thanks Dale, things have been rather busy of late and I am not able to give the site the time it deserves but I usually pop in every 24 hours to do the normal admin-y things. Some things are coming to the site soon though.
