Pre: La Toja soap, Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
Brush: Savile Row 3824 Silvertip
Soap: Mikes Orange, Cedarwood & Black Pepper
Razor: Feather AS-D2
Blade: Vintage Gillette Spoiler(4)
Post: Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
A/S: PAA Al Fin

Lovely consistent performance from the Mikes soap. It is a distinctive scent - certainly not your generic citrus/wood combo. Orange dominates, but I don't get the separate cedar and pepper notes, but more an dark earthy background.
Returned to my Savile Row brush - love the way this brush handles and performs.
The Spoiler is still shaving nicely. I feel as though I'm getting more feedback with this blade.
Such a great post shave feel with Mikes followed by the Myrsol combo.

Fourth shave with Polsilver Si and still no indication of the blades getting dull. Impressed. I guess I made the right decision purchasing them in bulk, counting some rumours they'll be out of production soon.

Pre: Face wash
Soap: First Canadian 'Bay Rum & Lime'
Brush: Simpson's Duke 2 'Pure'
Razor: Dovo 5/8
Post: Alum, Thayers, Captain's Choice Bay Rum AB

Used this same set up for my last two shaves, and it has been great. The soap first is definitely top tier for straight razors, the glide/ slickness is amazing plus the post shave feel is actually quite decent. However the scent is definitely not 'Bay Rum & Lime', I believe the scent may have gone off or something cause all I can smell is pretty much a common body soap smell. It is fine to shave with, but as I said it's definitely not 'Bay Rum & Lime'.
The razor has performed well for the last few shaves, probably need hit some stones after a few more shaves. At least I have a few razors to rotate through, haha.
Finally the post shave routine has been ok, the Captain's AB is a great performer but its biggest let downs are that it stays a bit greasy on my face after using plus the scent doesn't really linger as much as I would want it to. All in all a great two shaves.

Brush: Semogue Mistura
Lather: Mystic Water Bay Rum
Razor: iKon X3
Blade: Feather
Post-shave: Captains Choice Bay Rum

Two products making their debut this morning. First up was the Mystic Water Bay Rum soap, so kindly given to me by Master Latherer, @alfredus . The MW take on Bay Rum is a very unique one. No strong bay scent that I could detect. Instead it's very sweet and powdery. Very similar to a Barbershop scent. In fact I would be none-the-wiser if it had been labeled Barbershop. I really love the fragrance and the lather was the usual superb stuff that I have come to expect from MW.

Next was the iKon X3 slant. Both @Draco Noir and @Osman brought their X3's for me to try. Kind souls both of them. This was a razor that I didn't have high hopes for but it surprised me overwhelmingly. It was a very smooth shave with the razor doing a sterling job of taming the fresh Feather blade. Finding the right angle was easy peasy. So efficient on the first WTG pass that only a touch up ATG pass was required to complete the shave. A shorter handle would have suited me better but it's a very serviceable slant razor.

WOW! the GSB blade are still going with the Fatip which I've never reach pass #6 using this blade and still going :)(y) Also I've read and heard they can reach up to 10 using the Fatip and this is why I attend to keep on going until I feel the tugging, and that is when I start changing the blade.

Pre: Myrsol Antesol
Brush: Simpson Wee Scott
Soap: La Toja shave stick
Razor: Standard
Blade: GSB
Post: alum, witch hazel, TSW After Balm, Myrsol Agua Balsamica

First go with my proposed travel kit. Got the brush off @Psmith, doing a mock travel shave. Didn't end well......

First of all, the brush has too much scritch, it sort of scratches. Secondly, not sure if my skin is sensitive to the soap, wasn't a pleasant feeling when I lathered it. I feel that it might be a combination of the scritch from the Wee Scott, weakened skin from the iKon Slant last night, plus the soap is somewhat irritating my skin a little. Ended up with quite a few nicks. Has been a while...

Soothed the skin with some After Balm, @shavetheman, this balm does wonders. My mandatory post shave routine. Additional Agua Balsamica is a must too. I might reconsider my travel kit. Maybe a Muhle synth.

Pre-Shave: Cypriotian Olive/Argan Oil soap, cold water
Razor: BBS-1
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Brush: Paladin TSN LE
Lather: Mike's Lemongrass & Eucalyptus
Post-shave: Alum, Barrister & Man Kyovu Original, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Been away on the weekend visiting some very dear friends and super busy now. So sorry no pictures here - just barely had the time for a very nice shave

Razor: Vintage Gillette British Flare Tip SuperSpeed
Blade: Personna 'Lab Blue' (1)
Brush: Muhle Synthetic Travel Brush
Soap/Cream: D R Harris Arlington
Aftershave: Stirling Soap Company - Ozark Mountain Balm

Such a luxury to travel with checked baggage and take a DE. Usual hotel (Pullman Albert Park) shaving problems - poor lighting and a sink where the plug doesn't wotk properly - but nice to have a DE to use.

Swapped out the Floid and grabbed something else I have in a small container - the Ozark Mountain Balm. Not sure it is necessarily a good match with the Arlington, but a nice scent with a good face feel.

At least a DFS+ [contented sigh]

Pre-Shave: Shower
Razor: Edwin Jagger Kelvin
Blade: Polsilver SI (5)
Soap/Cream: Mystic Water - Coconut Sandalwood
Brush: Mühle Silvertip Fibre V2.0 Shaving Brush
ASB: The Body Shop For Men Maca Root Razor Relief
Post-Routine: hot rinse, alum, cold rinse, balm

The blade started to show signs of being dull. Truly speaking I expected at least 6 shaves from the blade.

Mystic Water - Coconut Sandalwood has amazing scent. Simply wow! However I was using it for the first time and unfortunately the lather was way too airy, but I'm sure I'll adjust my technique. Hopefully Michelle from Mystic Water will make more Coconut Sandalwood. I know limited edition etc., but it's all about market - I believe if there is a demand then she will make it more.

Thank you for the fantastic scent description, it sounds like another 'busy' scent profile. Your informed comments in relation to performance from this soap maker definitely have currency from the different forums and sites I visit, it is commonly known that the soap itself performs well below average.

Like most of us I have a decent collection of soaps and creams both artisan and commercial so it will certainly be interesting to see how this latest creation stacks up in the lather bowl and more importantly on the face in relation to the other players out there.

Interesting analysis of the PAA soaps @Monsta_AU. Personally I rate the PAA soaps right up there as one of my top performers. I guess that's where the DSFDF saying comes in :)

It is a little busy, but I do like it and there is a definite difference to the normal scents you usually get with other makers. And yes, I really don't know what it is but the lather lacks a certain something. That said it is never over until you lather it directly on a proper full-size product as samples never really give you a good indication of a proper loading.

Absolutely. It is all coming down to how your like you lather to perform. Now I love a very glidey lather, and B&M/SH/CB all deliver that in spades. In my opinion, the PAA/CK formula lacks in comparison and I have a feeling it may be to do with the superfat level of the formula, or one of the ingredients in particular. However it does rinse very well and the scents are great. They definitely have a place in the world of wetshaving and if you are in that place too then go for it. Don't let me or anyone tell you it's no good, if you get a good result with it then tha;s great
Time to wade in (with gusto!) LOL!

1) When you speak about PAA soaps you've got to be clear as there are MANY versions. And so be correct, this isn't PAA but Crown King. Yes, it's still made by Douglas BUT it's a different formulation. I have hear/read that the Crown King soaps perform better than PAA soaps and that's true in my experience. I've used a whole variety of Douglas' soaps (from HTGAM giant tin days to the most recent) and I must say that his latest generation in both PAA and CK are his best yet.

2) The lather for me was very thick and slick. In fact, this lather is easily slicker than CB and (some) SH. And that was with a sample... Granted I did use HALF the sample (which was still probably LESS than most of the blokes here use to generate their meringue lather.. :P ) and I did add in a lot of water.

3) Samples suck. (Just ask Charky!) Don't judge a soap's performance solely on a sample. I usually put the entire sample into a bowl and lather it. I deliberately overload a sample because I know they are notorious for under-performing.

Nothing sparks a debate in wet shaving more than mentioning Douglas! LOL!

Brush: EnvyShave 25mm Aluminati
Soap: B&M Rhapsody
Razor: GEM Micromatic OC (with GEM blade #2)
Razor: Kirby Beard (with Polsilver Brown #6)
