Pre-Shave: Cypriotian Olive/Argan Oil soap, cold water
Razor: ATT S-1 Kronos
Blade: Voskhod (2)
Brush: Paladin Chief Purple Haze
Lather: Mike's Orange, Cedarwood & Black Pepper
Post-shave: Alum, Australian Private Reserve Un Côtelette de Porcs kindly made and donated by @todras

Again a beautiful summer shave today with this razor/blade combo - the razor has been cleaned now and is ready for the holidays. The Mike's lather was the usual stunner (picture here) - and the brush is really becoming a star performer. The knot has loosened a bit and it just feels perfect on the face.

However the absolute star of the show today was again the beautiful balm made by @todras - my review can be read here.

Enjoy your 'Iw HIq you bIHnuch (y)(y)(y)

Soap: Shaver Heaven Absolution
Brush: Paladin Lotus in Ebony 26mm
Razor: GEM Star
Blade: GEM (3)

Well, that's a bloody hard combo to photograph! Black brush handle next to a white label gave my "camera" (iPhone) a hernia. Passable result in the end. Just.

Used my Shavemac 2band yesterday to compare. Those two are so similar but so different at the same time... it's going to take a while to distill the exact subtleties. Less scrub in the Paladin, but softer tips, I think. Not sure yet because I have a hunch it's the backbone I am feeling, not a harsher tip. Then there is the fact one is a fan, one a hybrid...

Pre: Hot shower, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: DR Harris Best Badger H3
Soap: Speick stick
Razor: Gillette Fusion (1)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
Cologne: DR Harris Arlington

On the road, so no choice but the cart. The water in these parts is primarily snow melt, and thus very soft. The Speick lathered beautifully - it is, along with Valobra, my go-to travel soap.
That's where the positive adjectives come to a screaming halt. It's been maybe a year since I've used a cart, and my memory is that the fusion gives a reasonable shave, whilst nowhere near as good as a proper razor. I was genuinely shocked with this shave. Tug - tug - tug, and the head felt flimsy and ineffective.
The result was a close shave, but very uncomfortable and a nasty rash/irritation on the right side of my neck, which is typically not a problem area.
Eased the burn somewhat with liberal amounts of icy water, then two applications of Emulsion about 15 min apart.
I am not looking forward to the next shave.
Sorry to hear it mate.
I've been wondering why guys use cartridge razors when traveling, is it because you can take them in carry-on luggage?

Glad to hear you are making progress. It is a real skill and takes awhile to master, but suddenly one day it will be second nature.
I will take your word on that one, but I do look forward to it.

Whilst it does take skill and experience I was surprised at how quickly I got to a stage where I am happy with my straight shaves. I think using a DE for all that time previously helps as you know all about lather. I was also lucky in that I enjoyed aggressive DE razors (R41, iKon Tech) with a lot of blade feel. In my very very limited experience so much of straight shaving (for me) is about tuning in to the blade on your face. It's why I enjoy it that much more than a DE. Great start @Benjamin
Yeah @Psmith - I think you're right about learning to lather first, I'm glads I've got the basics down before touching a straight. I have learnt a tonne about those basics since joining P&C. :)

Well done, @Benjamin! Gutsy effort. There are some wise straight razor users on this Forum guiding you.
Thanks mate. True words!

Pre: Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Wolfwhiskers Envy White Supreme
Soap: B&M Vetyver Santal
Razor: Leresche 77
Blade: Vintage Polsilver
Post: alum, witch hazel, TSW After Balm, Myrsol Agua Balsamica

First go with the Leresche. Thanks to @nsavage for posting it to me, and @filobiblic for loaning this to me. First impression was that it's not as fierce as it looks. Still trying to get the angle right, might have gone too steep today. Will report more in the next few days.

Slightly better shave today. The Emulsion & Balm are working well during the day to prevent chaffing in these icy conditions. And as a bonus, loads of pure icy water on hand for post-shave splash.

Beautiful shot @TomG - looks like a fabulous spot! Enjoy !

Pre: Musgo Real Glyce
Brush: Paladin PK47 28mm Tigris Perla
Soap: Mystic Water Lemongrass and Blue Gum
Razor: Hamburg Ring 6/8"
A/S: Myrsol Formula K

Lovely shave, although the peppermint Formula K always feels like I'm splashing mouth wash on my face. Not quite BBS, but for me a straight shave in the morning is a balancing act between closeness and smoothness.

Shower
Feather AC DX with Pro blade (9)
Tim's Greek Peach soap
Proraso brush
WH, Bulldog Original ASB

Another 2 pass WTG DFS. No cuts, weepers or irritation. It's either 2 quick passes or one slow and careful pass for a similar result. This blade for the last few shaves has become fantastic - ultra smooth and no damage. Part of that could be me improving my muscle memory but another part would be the blade losing some of its wicked sharpness. I can see why some people cork these blades before use... although when it's that sharp it only really bothers me around the chin. Hopefully with practice I will get better at dealing with that issue.

Pre - Hot towel
Brush - Semogue 620
Soap - Phoenix & Beau Spitfire
Razor - Dovo Diamant/ Edwin Jagger Kelvin
Blade - Polsilver Super Iridium (1)
Post Shave - Alum, Australian Private Reserve - Un côtelette de porc Splash and Balm

Second day with the straight. I cleared away 2 days growth with a fresh Polsilver blade in the DE, then did the second pass with the straight again. I love the sound of the hollow ground blade cutting through my whiskers! :)
I followed up with some lovely APR post-shave products made by @todras . My face felt great and the slightly woody?? scent is right up my ally. (y)

I agree about the Formula K @Psmith !!! I don't use mine much - There's something not quite right about peppermint aftershave :ROFLMAO:
