Shave of the Day Thread - 2016

Interesting shave tonight. I went deep into my razor roll and selected one of my Russian beauties - they can be tempestuous, jealous little critters if left alone for too long and I ended up with 2 small Russian styled love bites, just below the Adam's apple. I feel I will be conscious of that Russian beauty at least when I wake up.
I used soap, a brush and got a DFS+ from two "reasonably" uneventful passes with a svelte, feisty 11/16" Russian.

Pre: Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: SOC
Soap: B&M Vetyver Santal
Razor: Leresche 77
Blade: Vintage Polsilver
Post: alum, witch hazel, TSW After Balm, Myrsol Plastic Shave

Day2
Added water too quickly to lather today, a little thin compared to how I'd like it.

Still not quite into the Leresche. Got better hang of the angle though.

Hot shower/Acure Face Wash
Razor: RazoRock Teck II/Weber Wave handle
Blade: Feather (4x)
Brush: Maggard Purple Synth
Soap/Cream: Proraso Green
AS: Thayer’s Lemon/Chiseled Face Cryogen
Balm: St. James Lavender
Fragrance: AoS Sandalwood EDT

Pre: Proraso Green Pre/Post
Razor: iKon X3
Blade: Gillette 7'O'clock green (1)
Soap: Shaver Heaven Arctic Mango
Brush: Omega Boar
Post: Alum, Emu Oil, Pinaud Clubman

Haven't shaved since Saturday, so the end result is incredibly satisfying! Kind of unfair to judge the new blade with so much growth, but it was quite reasonable. Slightly tuggy on the first pass, then no dramas for the two XTG passes.

Happy shaving chaps. (y)

Chatillon Lux La Forêt de Liguest Aftershave

Feeling the cooling green fern and damp earth vibe today, deep and shaded reflecting moist earth and hints of carried blossom as the weather and humidity ramps up for what promises to be a hot, harsh summer. I was in a hurry this morning and took the lather a little past what I like by adding too much water, pulled off the shave ok as Jabonman's soap is so slick. A superb scent complimented by some bright Chatillon Lux and Jabonman's own balm which I am still getting used to - it is very thin, not unpleasant at all just different with high glycerine. Not bad at all for a Wednesday all things considered.

Shave well you good dingo bastards and don't be bloody pork chops :)

After only one use I can happily say that the Wolfman exceeded my expectations. Wonderfully smooth and easy to use razor and produced a magnificent result.

Pre-Shave: Cypriotian Olive/Argan Oil soap, cold water
Razor: BBS-1
Blade: Ladas (1)
Brush: Paladin Lotus
Lather: Stirling Bay Rum
Post-shave: Alum, Australian Private Reserve Les Généraux du Grand Livre kindly made and donated by @todras

I had really a poor day - but the shave was spectacular. Unfortunately I couldn't stay with it and my thoughts were wondering around. Thankfully the gear did everything for me and now at the end of the day my body aches and my mind is tired - but my face feels plumb and happy - you have to be gratefully for what you get I guess.

The new Lotus is definitely a keeper - but I knew that the second I saw its picture. The lather it produced was simply magnificent (picture here) - and to finish off the stellar balm from at @todras (review here) - really can't ask for more (y)

Day 3
Better lather today, great little brush. Love the amount of back bone it has. Day 3 with the Leresche, getting better with it.

Razor: EJ DE86
Blade: Feather Hi Stainless(3)
Brush: EJ Best Badger
Soap: SH Fig & Brown Sugar
After: Alum, TSW After Balm

Decided to move the Feather from the Standard as it wasn't a comfortable shave. First run in the DE86 the other day was a decidedly average shave, but I think that was just a bad day for the operator.

Tonight's shave was a good 3-pass shave, but the blade is giving nothing special in this razor. Perfectly adequate but no Wow-factor at all. In the Standard, I found it a little aggressive; now it's gone all Jeckyll and Hyde on me in the DE86 and swapped personalities.

Stirling Executive Man Shave Soap
Stirling Executive Man Aftershave Balm
Stirling Executive Man Aftershave Splash

Took the Derby out for a run courtesy of @SpeedyPC and from the first shave I was quite impressed, sharper than a Polsilver without a doubt and a little less sharp than my beloved Feather however I will be interested to see how it performs over multiple shaves, if it gets to 4 shaves then at the price I will seriously think about keeping some on hand.

Busted out the Executive Man today, a pleasing scent and the old faithful reliable Stirling Lather. Two passes, some balm and then a generous drenching of splash after my nice cool cold water rinse off. Not a bad way at all to start a Thursday.

Shave well and have a great day cobbers :)
