Mastro Livi KamiRazor

Sunday shave is always special because I usually have more time to spend on it, so I can plan it carefully, spending more time choosing a soap, aftershave and the rest. This time I opted for this Mastro Livi KamiRazor in CarboInox and Abalone scales, that is a kamisori blade mounted on scales. It was quite a long time I was not using Valobra soaps: today I saw the jar in which I am keeping it and I thought it was the time. I remembered it is a soap I like and my memories were right. As I was using an Italian soap, the aftershave had to be Italian as well. A glance at the aftershave bottles and I opted for Pino Silvestre, a classic Italian fragrance of old times. It was a very good shave, after all.
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: Valobra Almond Shave Cream
  • Brush: Mastro Livi Perugia Eco-Silvertip, Bois De Rose Handle, 26mm knot
  • Bowl: Bamboo Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Medium Loom Strop "Coramella Italiana" and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi CarboInox KamiRazor, 13/16 Full Hollow, Snake Point
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Argan Olive Oil
  • After Shave: Pino Silvestre
Love the look of your razor, is that Abalone shell used for the scales?

Can see the bottom of the Lavanille :(

The X3 goes ok, but I still prefer the #102 as far as slants go. All bow to the Rockwell though, and really looking forward to the model T in 2017.

The Bob Quinn knot is great. It really is up there with Shavemac. All those with an LE on order will be happy I think.

Australian Private Reserve - Bois de santal de verveine Aftershave

First day of a months holiday and a nice, leisurely approach to the shave, arising at a lazy at 10.00am. The first outing of the mysterious E bar that arrived from 'the General' care of our nations capital. It is an interesting beast, quite beautiful in construction and thankfully British, of old empire and all that. I am not to sure as to the age of the blades I received either.

An interesting shave, I found the blades to be not overly efficient however the razor does deliver a nice shave, I plan to use it for a week or so before forming a definite and solid opinion. The look of the piece itself is half of the battle though, really elegant design that I will send to NZ for re-plating based on looks alone. I have to ascertain the year of manufacture prior to doing so however.

Great lather from the mystic, a usual two passes with a third touch up and re-pass stage due to the new razor and blades. Far from my usual perfect stage but given the first use and blade to be expected - certainly a very elegant and 'fun' shave playing with the new piece. A liberal splash and balm, fantastic sandalwood, lime and verbena EO notes for what promises to be another hot day.

Have a capital day chaps, do it for old Blighty (y)

Brush: Chubby 2 Best
Soap: Mystic Water - Eucalyptus and Spearmint
Blade: Lone Wolf 6/8 F.Hollow round point
Strop: Kanoyama #30'000

That Mystic Waters sure is an unusual lather. When fully hydrated, it's thick and sticky, but still quite viscus. If I go too far the lather runs out of the brush ends up on the bench between passes! I find it almost impossible to get air into this lather. My other soaps I can do my entire face with the lather building up on the blade. With MW, it drips off (usually onto me!) before I get halfway through a pass (which is when I usually wash the blade). Still slick, and performs pretty well. #mustjustbeme

Pre - Warm water
Brush - Semogue 620
Soap - B&M Leviathan
Razor - Edwin Jagger Kelvin
Blade - Polsilver Super Iridium
Post Shave - Alum, Australian Private Reserve - les généraux du grand livre

Very smooth shave with the DE this morning. As much as I want to use the straight, I decided to give my skin a little 2 day break from me assaulting it with a straight razor. I’ll be back at it again tomorrow though. :sneaky:

I reckon I’ve got one more shaves worth of the Leviathan soap. The performance has been great and the scent has grown on me the more I used it. I was a little overwhelmed by the coffee notes when I first started the puck, but it (or my sense of it) has toned down with more use. :)

How do you rate that brush @SpeedyPC ? I really like the look of them, especially the Cherry Wood version.

@Benjamin pretty darn good better than the Omega 10065 and the backbone is up there not too strong that will scrub you're skin off it doesn't splay too much against the 620, and if you give it some time to break in is a bloody ripper.

I was thinking this very same thing about MW yesterday. I pushed it a little too far and had it disappearing on my face by the end of the pass.
