Pre-Shave: Occams pre-shave soap, cold water
Razor: Wolfman WR1-SB with WRH2
Blade: Vintage Wilkinson Sword Made in England (3)
Brush: Paladin TSN LE
Lather: Stirling Bay Rum
Post-shave: Alum, Barrister & Man Kyovu Original, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

The blade was absolutely sensational today - so smooth. Again many thanks to @bald as and @Mark1966. Now let's see how many shaves it will be like that. The first 2 were a bit too sharp for my likings, but after today I might start to get the whole vintage blade thing...unfortunately for the blade this has to wait now for a week...I have hopefully some extra special shaves waiting for me this week - all will be revealed Sunday!

So of course I couldn't stop myself and timed my shave - I was just curious. I have to admit the first min or so was horrible, I felt totally rushed and had to take a deep breath and then started to do my normal routine...

Total Shave Time: 25 min

1. Washing Face twice with soap, pat dry with towel, use soak water (distilled) from brush to wet face: 3:00

2. Wring out brush, tip over bloom water, load brush (adding 3 times water): 2:00

3. Face lather: 5:00 - lather was SENSATIONAL

4. Pass 1: 2:15

5. Pass 2 (including rinsing and drying face from last pass): 2:40

6. Pass 3 (including rinsing and drying face from last pass): 2:20

7. Pass 4 (including rinsing and drying face from last pass): 2:45

8. Lather up one more time, clean brush, razor, sink, etc with hot water: 2:00

9. Rinse face with cold water, alum, wash brush with cold water: 1.15

10. Witch Hazel, shake out brush, dry sink etc, olive oil: 1:45

So considering that point 1 is done by most under the shower, only a good brush is worth some extra minutes of shave routine (points 2 and 3), most people here do only 2 passes (so no points 3 and 4) and points 8, 9, and 10 could also be substantially reduced by not lathering up one more time, not taking much care of my brush and other gear and just chuck some pure alcohol on my face at the end of the shave - I see how I could reduce it to under 10 min....but for me that would be 10 wasted minutes and at the moment I have 25 spectacular minutes of me time.

I am very glad that @filobiblic believes now - a great brush and great lather...that makes such a huge difference...
Can we all just agree that @alfredus is no longer allowed to post any more pictures or videos of that Wolfman. There's enabling and then there's enabling.

Maybe you should offer us all loaner brushes AND a personalised tutorial service so we can learn the truth about amazing lathers ;)

I have posted the tutorial already some time ago - I think the first 3 posts (including you @Mark1966) were a bit dismissive...

Now watch the video again, get out the tallowest of your tallow treasures out, one of your vintage butterscotch beauties will definitely do a fantastic job and just do it :D

And as a thank you: please tell me how to take a picture of my lather in the bathroom - I tried so many times but always fail miserably. I so wanted to share today's effort - but the colours are so wrong and so was the focus. Even Gimp couldn't help :cry::cry:

Well it looks like you will be right for the next week. BUT I fear you will beg for Wolfman pictures - if you thought the Wolf is unobtainium...

Razor:Weber Polished Head on Bulldog Handle
Blade: Personna 'Lab' Blue (6)
Brush:Vintage butterscotch Simpson AS2
Soap/Cream: Vintage Yardley
Aftershave: Herbal by Old Spice
Time: ?:??

Was hoping to have a special shave this morning but it didn't work out. Went 'retro' instead - even as far as an 'old' blade - well a blade at least one shave past it's prime.

No idea about the time - didn't think about that until part way into it.

Some days there are good shaves and other days, for some of us at least, there are just shaves.

Hoping for a great shave tomorrow!

I can understand why there would need to be a limit of 6 per customer then - http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/en/davidjones/tobacco-vanille-100ml?cm_vc=prodpg1

Thankfully for @Draco Noir though this will not stop you getting your half a litre. In fact they are in the Cart ready for you to Checkout -

You will be pleased to know that standard delivery is complimentary when you spend $100 or more ...

Thanks @Mark1966 - I'm touched that you feel it necessary to help me dispose of all my money.:)

Went looking and cannot find the tutorial - had a hankering for humble pie that seems destined to not be satisfied :(

Pre: King of shaves oil
Soap: SMN
Razor: Fatboy
Brush: Emperor Manchurian
Blade: Feather (1)
Post: Floid the original

Gents this preshave oil is proving very good. What's making me use it also is the applicator it comes in which in the past has put me off due to mess and fuss. After palm stropping the blade I had one slick shave!

As for SMN it's tops and I didn't realise how much I had gone through. This soap is definitely one I plan to return to when everything else is finished.

Hope you enjoying your long weekend. My stated with dinner at simply Spanish in south Melbourne and a day out today with the family

Muhle R89 / Personna Israeli Red
Semogue 1305
Proraso Green
National Alum (India) / Brut (Euro) AS Splash / L'Oreal Hydra Energetic ASB

Thought I'd get some further use out of Proraso Green before the colder months close in. The Semogue is getting there, but gee they take a while. Its only the 13th use and I loaded it for a good 2 minutes, but the lather was just a bit too thin for the 3rd pass. Its still too early judge and I'm probably only half-way there with breaking it in. I'm guessing the "finer" Semogue bristles may not pick-up soap as effectively as the thicker bristles often used by other manufacturers. I've had better luck using soap sticks with the 1305, so I might just continue using sticks for the next few times until it break's in further.

The Red IP's feel smooth and I don't get any irritation from them, but they're obviously sharp enough as well. I find it hard to avoid nicking myself when pairing it with the Muhle R89 - I might try a different razor next time.

Overall, a close and comfortable shave. The Proraso Green made it very refreshing.

Happy Shaving Everyone !!

Preshave: GFT limes sf
Brush: shavemac 177
Soap: shaver heaven vetyver and neroli
Razor: iKon B1 OSS
Blade: feather
Post: alum, Thayer aloe, shaver heaven green tobacco balm

First time using the shaver heaven soap, soap was great but there was a slight burning sensation and a little itch for the first two passes. Wonder if my skin is irritated by it. Hope not, love the quality of the soap. Shave is great though, smooth and no weepers. Really liking the tobacco as balm.

Yeah slight burning sensation is a little inherant of a few of SH soaps but in saying that if you can live with it then It's worth it overall

Do you know which ones don't have the burn? I guess it's not too bad of a burn, just would be curious which ones wouldn't give the burning sensation.
