The soap definitely has a distinctive burn to it, but God it performs so well. Smooth and slick. Kinda only had enough lather for 2 and a bit shave, had to reload. Overall, great shave non the less!

Take care @bald as, and get well soon. You are one of the first few forum members whom I conversed with in someone's thread.

Have a quick recovery @bald as - we hope to see you posting on the SOTD thread again soon. (I hope you've written down your amazing soap formula! [emoji28] You need to leave a wet shaving legacy...)

Thanks for letting us know @alfredus - good on you for your care and concern for a fellow wet shaver.

Mastro Livi Double Damascus San Mai, 15/16 Full Hollow, Barber's Notch

It is so hard to tell what is the Mastro Livi straight razor I like the most. Of course I like them all and each of them brings its own story, character and soul. And, of course, a truly personal and different shaving sensation. Mastro Livi carbon damascus is both beautiful and high performing, but I admit this san mai double damascus straight razor is even more special. Not only for the fact Mastro Livi engraved my name in the tang, but also for the fact I watched the whole making of this razor and it was "tailored" on my hand grip, something you can see in razor's spine and tang. This razor is very special to me. Scales too are breathtaking: they are made from a beautiful piece of amboyna burl with three colors, absolutely awesome. And I am sure of this: this Mastro Livi double damascus sanmai straight razor is a truly and excellent masterpiece. And it has my name in it.

@razorguy which brand of Argan Oil do you buy if you don't mind me asking ;)

I bought this oil from a farmer while visiting a trade fair. He was a very small farm and he did not mention his name. He assured me it was 100% argan oil and cold pressed. As far as I can tell, it seems to be like so. It is a very good quality argan oil.

Razor: Gillette British Aristocrat #16
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (2)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary
Aftershave: Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary

Hard to go past this again today.

The lather (pics on re-lathering AFTER my 2 1/2 pass routine) is incredible -

I can see why people can get a *little* obsessive about getting this right -

Add a little more water, whip again, little more, go again. It reminds me of making meringue - same rich glossy sheen and soft but firm peaks.

Oh dear - what have you guys done to me ...

@Mark1966 it nearly 12:20pm in London as I'm on my way out to lunch for another big day at the UGLE, bloody great lather you've got there @Mark1966 keep on trying and practicing you're lather skills and the more you look at it and it's going to make you cry like you've just falling in love with you're lather ;)

@Mark1966 did you face, bowl or hand lather you're skills ?????????

Cheers ;)

Pre: Occams Lime
Blade: Tanifuji 6/8 Hollow
Soap: SH - Dragon Noir
Brush: Duke 2 - Best
Post: Thayers, SH Draon Noir Balm

I had been sticking to just two passes (WTG & XTG) this past week so I decided to have a stab at WTG today. Went pretty well, near BBS result although my face is red in patches and a little irritated in a couple of other places (either side of my mouth) so not bad for a first attempt but still a long way to here. As to the soap @Anthony has nailed it again with this scent. Love it. Performance is great and up there with the best for sure. @Anthony has won me with his Balms. The way my skin feels after a SR shave and his balm is just amazing. My daughters used to tease me about my stubble before I started wet shaving and would pretend they were "spiked" when I kissed them ... now they ask to touch my cheek and rub theirs against mine.... silky smooth... There are few things in life as heart warming for a man than the attention of his daughters!

I have Absolution here on my desk so I eagerly await tomorrows shave to test it out and compare it to the vegan soaps. The more I use SH, the less I go to my other soaps. In fact, in light of SH Tallow, the two Wickams soaps that I just bought, and am not taken by the scent of will probably never get used so I may as well just chuck them on the BST now.

Oh... I tried using demineralised water today (Shaver Heaven Soap) and found exactly no difference at all in the lather. I guess that means I have plenty soft water. That is all. Thank you.
