Fat Friday

  • Fatboy
  • Soap had to be 'The Fat'
  • Brush isn't fat but is a little 'Chubby'
  • Couldn't think of a way to weave an aftershave into the theme apart from smearing a bit of butter on my face so put a splash of Pino Silvestre on because it smells phat.
Turned out to be a stellar shave indeed. Happy Friday all

Preshave: Proraso Green
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89(Sorry do not have a fatboy....yet)
Blade: Rapira Swedish Supersteel
Brush: Shavemac 177
Soap: Maggards Limes and Bergamot(thanks @Draco Noir )
Post Shave: Trumpers Limes skin food and Pinaud Clubman
Two pass shave. The Maggards soaps is a middle of the road soap. Good scent, cushion, glide, etc. but not in the top echelon. Still had a great shave and ready for lunch with some gentleman friends.

G'day ;) it's 10:15pm Scotland time and GOD CRIKEY it bloody COLD at night :confused::confused::confused:

Brush: RazoRock Plissoft
Razor: Parker 31R Shavette
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
Soap/Cream: Haslinger Sheeps Milk & Lanolin (very similar to MWF)
Post/After Shave: T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent / Natio Maximum Razor Relief Healing Lotion
Fragrance: Tabac EDT
Time: Who cares I'm enjoying myself wet shaving, love making a bloody mess and clean up after I'm done.

Got myself a Parker 31R Shavette because I've never used a straight style in my life, so I thought I get myself a bloody Shavette because I really don't have the free time to used a strops with a real straight razor. Any way first time using a shavette is a completely different experience whole new ball game and thank bloody goodness for Geofatboy at youtube on How To Shave Parker Straight Razor Shavette Shaving, and thanks bloody goodness I only had a couple of small nicks around the neck area and at least I didn't end up in a Scottish blood bath ;)

Big day at the Grand Lodge of Scotland(y);)

Cheers ;)

Semogue Owners Club 2 Band Badger

Gillette Super Platinum (2)
TOBS No 74 Limes aftershave
Breaking the monotony out of respect for the Sieberts? ;) Great shave!

@eggbert - many here were sure you had a Fatboy in your optimised arsenal. What's with the "SLIM" in unmissable letters?
Eggy doesn't have a FatBoy (other than his little toddler). I'm not sure he has ever had a FB razor.

@Draco Noir Alas, I have no Fatboy, only a Gillette Executive.
I just wanted to break up the wall of FB's.

By the time I realised what day it was, I was already in the shower so wasn't going to jump out to get a new blade.
*Delete as appropriate.

Face Wash : Shower
Pre-Shave : Myrsol Emulsion
Brush : Shavemac Custom
Soap : Mitchell's Wool Fat
Razor : Gillette Fatboy ("F1")
Blade : Polsolver SI [0]
After Shave : Alum, Myrsol Metilsol, Tom Ford Venetian Bergamot

Fatboy Friday - wow, great to see so many Fatties out and about! Great effort Paste & Cutters! For me, a pretty normal DE shave with the exception of the Fatboy. Today was the first time I've ever shaved with this particular Fatboy, believed to be mint and never used until this morning. It's manufacturing code is F1 for whoever wanted to know.

Standard prep followed by an old-school but excellent lather from the MWF. I set the razor to "5" on the dial and went for it. Such a different feel to the other DEs I've used this week. The balance in the hand is OK, but I find the head disconcertingly large and a bit challenged in the manoeuvrability department. However it did a fine job of propelling the Polsilver around my face, leaving me feeling satisfyingly smooth after 2 passes. Having said all that though, I think I do prefer modern razors, particularly when machined from stainless steel.

A little after shave care and fragrance, and a very good shave draws to a close.

Thanks and Well Done!! to everybody who pitched in and made such a fun event of this little Fatboy Expo :)(y):)

Pre: Shower/Face wash
Soap: SH Drogon Noir
Brush: Simpson's 'Chubby 2'
Razor: Friodur Inox 6/8 (J.A Henckels)
Post: Dr John's 'Classic' Aftershave, Natio Maximum Razor Relief Lotion

Loving all these Fatboys, seeing I don't have one I thought I would shave with my straight that starts with an 'F' haha.
Another great shave from the straight, still holding its edge which is great. Made great lather again with the 'Drogon Noir' and the Chubby. Then took my time with 3 passes and then finished with some nice aftershave and lotion.
Have a good Friday gents (y)

No fatboy for me...

Pre: Prorasso Red (I'm convinced this stuff does nothing but I've got to use it up right?)
Brush: Duke 2 Best (Keep swaying between this and Semogue 1800. Moving back to prefering the 1800 at the moment. Seems to give up it's lather easier)
Soap: Shaver Heaven - Absolution. (I do like the scent on this one. Subtle yes, but after a bloom to fully realize it I do enjoy it. It's clean and refreshing)
Blade: NOS Parker 510 (Sweedish steel worked by a Japanese legend. First shave of it's life and it was an honour to be that shave. It's a bloody nice blade too)
Post: Alum, Dickenson WH (another product I don't really like but using up) and Shaver Heaven Balm - "The Teller". It pains me I don't have an Absolution balm, but then I don't have a "The Teller" soap so....
Time: 25min

Top three pass shave, with BBS result, a only little irritation. Skin feel is great. I'm finished with my ATG antics for a few shaves now. Going back to two pass and experiment more with blade angles and directions before trying the ATG again later on.

Feather Popular / Shark SC
Semogue 1305
TOBS Avocado
Nivea Originals AS Splash
Natio Maximum ASB

Was cooler in Melbourne today and its finally beginning to feel like Autumn. The TOBS Avocado has rarely seen much action over the last 3-4 months, so it was a nice change. I've always used a larger boar to bowl lather creams, but for the first time today, I decided to apply a bit cream to the face and just face lather away with the Semogue 1305. Face lathering creams appears to be another great method when breaking-in a brush - If your lather isn't enough between passes, its easy enough to re-apply more cream directly to the face.

I used the Feather Popular for the first time today after winning it on an ebay auction about 12 months ago - Amazing how quickly time passes because I never thought it was that long ago. I seriously need to stop buying stuff I don't really need. Having said that, the Feather Popular felt different - It has a lighter feel and didn't deliver the closest shave, but it was still a nice shave that was close enough with no irritation.

Happy Shaving everyone and have a great weekend !!

Well I felt I was letting shavedom down as 2 days have past and the grey growth was less than attractive.
Preshave: Hot washer treatment
Soap: Mine. A nice tallow formulation Sandalwood/Amber blend.
Razor: The wonderful Schick Type E from about 1939
Blade: Personna. These are a very good blade.
And a splash of witch hazel

Smooth 2 pass DFS and thankfully no cuts or weepers. I had a chat with my GP today and he thinks I will be fine with a cut throat so soon despite the blood thinners.
