#TechTuesday!

Razor: Gillette Aluminium Tech
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (ten)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson 'The Duke'
Soap/Cream: Truefitt & Hill 1805 Shaving Cream
Aftershave: Truefitt & Hill 1805 After shave

Well we all know why @MrT wanted us to jump on board #TechTuesday - it is all about the [Mr] T - so I decided to go all out and have T's throughout the shave!

So apart from the Tech itself it was the tenth shave of the Light Brigade, the brush was The Duke and what else to use but a T&H cream and aftershave. It has been a while since I've used this cream - insanely easy to lather and the combination with the 1805 aftershave goes really nicely. Not so sure about the scent though nowadays. I'm finding that my scent choices are starting to change. While nice the 1805 is a little on the 'sweet' side to be a real favourite anymore.

As for the shave - well the aluminium Tech was interesting. At 26 grams it has to be one of the lightest razors I've used and the 'no pressure' mantra is hard to stick to.

There are a couple of patches I've missed in the two passes and the technique for such a light razor is certainly different to a 'normal' razor. Not something I think I want to do regularly I'd have to say.

Anyway - Happy Tuesday all!!!

Preshave: Proraso Red
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89 with Windrose Handle
Blade: Personna Med Prep
Brush: Shavemac 177
Soap: PannaCrema Namaste
Post Shave: Razorock Lime Balm and Musgo Real Orange Amber AS
Two pass shave with clean up under chin. The PannaCrema Namaste is a top shelf performing soap with plenty of cushion and slickness. The post shave feel is outstanding. The lemongrass is the prevalent scent but it is very pleasant. Pure pleasure.

This latest soap is absolutely top shelf stuff Steve. Very very high quality.

Thanks @khun_diddy, it is a formulation I'm quite pleased with.
I notice you are still flying on the wild side with the Bunny. I wonder if the more aggressive head will reduce blade life? On the mild head I got seven excellent shaves.
Are you finding the angle on the ATG pass easier to find?

Soap: Nivea Sensitive Cream
Brush: Savile Row 3124
Razor: Gillette Tech Fat Handle - Rhodium Replated
Blade: Feather (3)
Post-shave: Nivea Sensitive Balm

I love this razor. The rhodium on the fat handle looks amazing. These techs are efficient but mild, and can be had for under $20 delivered from eBay. Add $60 for the replate, and you've got an amazing razor for under $80 which will last a second lifetime (this razor is from 1948 so it's already listed one lifetime) and is made from solid brass not pot metal like the Muhles and Murkers (looks better than them too IMO). My only complaint is the handle could be heavier...

Nivea cream was disappointing. I haven't used it in probably 12 months. Can it go off? The lather was very sparse. Maybe I need to use more cream though... It was definitely slick, and I love that scent.
Love the B&W @MrT - I can't remember 100%, but isn't the handle of this particular Tech hollow and you could fill it up with lead balls?

My dad rates his fat handle tech very highly [emoji106]

Yeh, the only issue with this razor is finding (or holding) the angle going up. Don't get me wrong - it's better than many of the razors that I've used and it shaves great. It just could be improved IMHO. The open comb Injector idea is a fantastic concept.

Pre: Shower/ Face Wash
Soap: SH Drogon Noir
Brush: Chubby 2
Razor: 6/8 Fridour Inox
Post: Homemade Aftershave Tonic, Jojoba oil and Natio MRRL

This mornings shave, just a late posting. Nice shave again, the scent of the Drogon Noir is just amazing still (hopefully won't ever get sick of it haha). The razor glided through 3 passes. Then to finish up my aftershave tonic, jojoba oil and the natio lotion.

Today's shave wasn't as great as the first time I used the MdC, but it's getting there because I am still not too good at judging whether the lather is ready or not. It's easier to judge when it's in a bowl, but on the face it's a little harder to see.

Love the scent of the MdC Fougere.

Minor sting with the 'lum, but it's better than yesterday's shave.
Had to do almost 2 touch ups to clean the stubborn stubbles, but no burn!
Getting better at face lathering.
I do need a proper tub of the MdC. April/May 2016's acquisition.

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (11)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: B&M Roam
Aftershave: Captain's Choice Cat 'o' nice tails

Thick, rich, glossy, glidy lather from the Roam - but no pics sorry. The scent is still interesting to me. Will really knows how to play with your nose!

Light Brigade still charging full steam ahead.

I wanted 'the burn' this morning and the CoNT delivered.

The world looks a better place after a decent shave - despite what is going on around us.

I find one of the easiest ways to tell if the lather is ready on the face is the sheen. If it looks glossy, it's ready. If it looks matte, add a touch more water.

The MdC is a killer for shipping costs, but if you buy a few the costs drop dramatically. From memory buying 4 tubs was the sweet spot, because adding a 5th caused another jump in shipping. So find 3 others who want some and split it with them.

Cheers @MrT, I will look out for the sheeny gloss. I am just not used to it yet. I have been bowl lathering all these while. Much easier to work on a bowl. but I love that exfoliation process during the face lather.
I thought I had it on my face and just began hacking. But turns out needed a bit more work.

Just before I sleep I did another run with the SOC, just to palm lather and break it in. I reckon it's much easier to load soaps up on boars than my badgers. The SOC is a great great brush. I reckon I will use that for tonight's shave.

Yea the shipping for one is $18.80 Euros, and for every extra tub is an increment of 4 Euro.

Two pass shave with clean up under the chin. My first real shave cream and I enjoy going back to it. Nice scent and provides a good lather for DE shaving. Thoroughly enjoyed today's shave.

I missed the last group buy of MdC. Given the reviews it gets, I'd be willing to buy a tub if we can get a group buy off the ground.

I have a very soft brush or two about. I have recently discovered a little trick to get them to load better on hard soaps; lay the brush over on it's side - at maybe 30deg to the face of the soap, and scrub back and fourth a bit. Then go back to swirling normally. Repeat if necessary. The angle & push, scrubs the bristles lengthwise across the soap scratching the surface when the tips are too soft to do so when held perpendicular. A pumping up and down may have a similar effect but I feel the sideways method is kinder on the bristles.

Okay, that makes 2 of us now. But considering you're in Qld, and I'm in Melbourne, the shipping from between us kinda kills it too.
Buying one tub is approx $80 a tub, buying 4 tubs however equates to about $62 a tub.

Awesome, will give that a shot. Mainly I find that the Chubby is the one I have a harder time loading up. I usually load up dryer and longer with my Chubbeast.
I'll try that next time. The Chubs is just such an extravagant brush, I love it.
