Two pass shave with clean up under the chin. My first real shave cream and I enjoy going back to it. Nice scent and provides a good lather for DE shaving. Thoroughly enjoyed today's shave.
I'm feeling drawn to get of that GFT shave cream

Okay, that makes 2 of us now. But considering you're in Qld, and I'm in Melbourne, the shipping from between us kinda kills it too.
Buying one tub is approx $80 a tub, buying 4 tubs however equates to about $62 a tub.

Awesome, will give that a shot. Mainly I find that the Chubby is the one I have a harder time loading up. I usually load up dryer and longer with my Chubbeast.
I'll try that next time. The Chubs is just such an extravagant brush, I love it.

Yeah I'd be up for another $9 for shipping from you to me. Start a thread in the group by section adn see what we can come up with.

For it to be an official P&C group buy you will need permission from @Monsta_AU. However, nothing stopping you doing it unofficially... just find three other ppl who are keen, and then sort it out amongst yourselves.

Pre-Shave: Occams pre-shave soap, cold water
Razor: BBS-1
Blade: Ladas (1)
Brush: Omega Pro 49
Lather: Mike's Orange, Cedarwood and Black Pepper
Post-shave: Alum, Barrister & Man Kyovu Original, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Lather shot can be found here - I spend some time yesterday culling some of the black bristles from this knot. And while there was less scritch in there - it was still present. I now also believe, that the hair used for this brush is treated. Some of the black bristles were blonde on the top, some even split. But some were just nasty fat things that sting.

Which leads me to: boar brushes (or at least this one) are definitely not as soft as top badger brushes and far from a good synthetic.

And: I want a boar brush with TOP quality blonde hair, a thick fat knot and a low loft, so it is not floppy - with a nice handle. There should be a Bernd from Shavemac, Ken from Paladin or Mark from Simpson for boar brushes - seriously somebody should do some great boar brushes - and maybe even sell them already broken in :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The shave itself was absolutely fantastic - I forget sometimes that I have 2 beautiful razors from James and today I had the best shave with the BBS-1 ever. I realise it is good to change your setup from time to time - else you get floppy with your technique and the Bunny was definitely the push I needed!

Another one from Melbourne up for this.

Pre: shower, cold water to quench my face
Brush: Simpson Chubby "Chubbeast" 2 Fine
Soap: Saponificio Varesino 70th anniversary
Razor: iKon B1 OSS (SB side)
Blade: Feather
Post: Alum, Thayer WH with aloe, SH Green Tobacco

Today is a very important day to me. I tamed the Chubbeast. Face lather too. [emoji7]

What did I do differently this time? I remember @bald as advice to start dry. So previously I thought I have wringed the Chubbeast dry enough. Turns out I can further squeeze it to dry it further. Doing so allowed me to pick up way more soap than I could before. Drops of water and load, and repeat until it glistens.

Loaded up the Chubbeast lavishly, lather on the face while enjoying the exfoliating process. Too matte, I add a little more water. Until I get that nice shiny sheen on the lather. Away we go.

Smooth slick lather. A good lather makes a DFS, while a bad one could ruin it. There is just so much glide with the saponificio I couldn't believe it. It's so enjoyable. I love it. Sing a song.

The nights practice lathering the SOC to break it in, taught me a lot. I'm glad I have been doing it. I owe it to a lot of the members in the Lather shots thread too. Thanks guys.

However, today I noticed my Chubbeast is shedding quite a little more than usual. I hope it wasn't because of the wringing. The brush is still about a month plus old with approximately less than 15 uses I'd say. Any thoughts?

@silver .
Shouldn't be shedding although they do drop a hair here and there. Maybe just keep an eye on it. After 15 uses I would have thought it should have stopped by now. The nearest thing I have to a Chubby (why do you call it a chubbest?) is my Duke 2. It's about the same age but it's only dropped two or three hairs total.

The use of the word "wringing" worries me a little. I wouldn't do anything that stresses the base of the knot. Squeeze it all you like, but twisting and squeezing (which is wringing to me) is out for sure.

Pre: Musgo Real Glyce Soap
Brush: SOC Boar
Cream: Al's Goodfellas
Razor: Gillette Slim (6)
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Post: Speick Splash

I took the Slim for a spin yesterday and was in love. I used a Feather (4) and couldn't believe the shave. For some reason better than my Fatboy and Super Adjustable.
Today with the Voskhod I'm less enamoured. I know many love the blade, but meh.
I rarely use the Al's but when I do I thoroughly enjoy it. Lather shots here.

@Sxot yea I thought so too, when I first started using it, it didn't really shed. Then maybe lose one or two. But tonight is pretty much a weird one for me. It's sure has a lot more lose hairs here and there. But after I'm done, I washed the brush thoroughly and gently stroke it on my towel. That's when I noticed a about maybe 6 hairs or more that came lose.

That's why I am starting to worry. On the bright side now, I have been gently rubbing the brush, there seems to be none of the lose hairs. I'll keep an eye on it. Worst case I can always bring it back to mensbiz. Great thing about buying it local.

Apologies, squeezing is what I meant. Not wringing! Won't do that to my badger. I have a weird tendency to name my possessions. Chubbeast is what separates my Chubby from other chubbies.

Bought the Chubby back in mid Feb, so just a bit over a month now. Probably 8-10 uses not more than that as I have three other brushes to rotate around. Tend to use chubby less than my shavemac.

It's still very much in the break in stage and 6 hairs, whilst a lot, isn't something to be worried about. Especially from a Chubby. If it continues for a week then, yes, you may want to return it.
I had to return a Shavemac to Mensbiz cos it was shedding (but really shedding, 15 a shave for a week). They were awesome and so easy to deal with.

Phew. Thanks a lot man. I'll monitor it. I really love this brush. But yeah, thumbs up for men's biz for me. Absolutely amazing to deal with.

Razor: G3 Fatboy Rhodium (3,4,5)
Brush: RR 26mm Monster Synth
Blade Permasharp Super (1)
Soap: SH Peppermint Plus (Thanks @Golbourn&sons )
Pre-shave: Myrsol Emulsion
Post: Thayers Orig, Myrsol Balsalmica

First run of the Fatboy and yeah, me likey... WTG on 3, XTG x 2 on 4 and a part ATG on 5 (only ever do touchups ATG). Love the SHPP soap, and wish I had of bought some. The feeling of cold water gives a nice pseudo menthol finish. I'll have to wait till @Anthony brings out a tallow menthol that isn't mango or paw paw :)

How was she as a user tonight

I spend some time yesterday culling some of the black bristles from this knot.

@alfredus Did you snip the thick black hairs or pull them out ?

I have a single thick black hair on my Semogue 1305 almost in the middle of knot, that is about 5mm higher than the rest of knot. Its not a big deal, just cosmetic. Its common to have a thin blonde hair or two that is slightly higher in many boar brushes, but this is a single thick black hair that sticks out. I've been hoping it might fall-out along with a few others that shed away. I'm tempted to snip it (cut), rather than pull it out (not so sure if pulling it out is a good idea, since I wouldn't want to upset the surrounding hairs glued into the knot).

@Volare I just used small scissors and cut them. It was a pain, because I removed ~50 bristles without one blonde one...

Basically I pulled each over and to the side of the knot, where I then cut them - hope this makes sense? I pulled them on a 90+ degree...

Having said all that: it was just my 10$ Omega, and if it had died on me, it might have been a bit sad, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. I'm not sure, if I'd done it on my favourite brush and definitely don't assume any liability for this advise :D :D :D

Makes sense. Thanks Alfredus. I guess there is no harm snipping that single thick long black hair. I doubt this single hair will split anyway, so it probably won't make a difference. But I might just give it a few more weeks in hope that it might fall-out or snap-off.

Omega pro brushes usually take longer to break in than your standard 50 to 55mm loft brushes (My 48 took longer than usual - 20+ uses). I think you'll love the Zenith B03_A26. Its a finer bristle than the Omega's and more backbone than Semogue (so I've heard). I'll start using mine soon (its just been tucked away so I can break in a brush one at a time).

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (12)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Culmak reknotted with TGN finest
Soap/Cream: Stirling Soap Company - Glacial Obsidian
Aftershave: Floid Vigoroso

Thought I would give the Glacial Obsidian a go with my new found lathering skills. WOW - even more menthol than I remember. Didn't even notice the Floid hit the face at the end - it was still numb.

Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (12) - says it all - still going strong ...

Soap: Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore
Brush: Savile Row 3124
Razor: Gillette Tech
Blade: Polsilver (1)
Post-shave: Nivea balm

I love everything about that soap except one thing... it is GRITTY! I hate it. My XXX did the same thing. It's like it now has sand in it. No idea what causes the soap to split like this, but it's a deal breaker IMO. Anyone have a way to fix it?
