Preshave: Proraso Red
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89 with Windrose Handle
Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux
Brush: Shavemac 177
Soap: Mystic Water Viola di Bosco
Post Shave: Natio Balm and Floid Vigoroso
Two pass shave with a quick cleanup. The Mystic Water lathered up a storm and is superb in every department. Scent , cushion, slickness and post shave. This is how I want my routine shaves to be. Pure joy. The Floid leaves me smelling and feeling masculine. The result is a smooth face and a happy individual ready for the working day ahead.

Razor: Slim
Blade: Vintage Wilky X ?
Brush: Omega 10005
Soap: Stirling Glacial Obsidian
After Shave: Aqua Velva

The Glacial Obsidian has been a bit of a disappointment of late. I read a few of you left soaps out to dry after a shave and thought I would give it a go. Unfortunately I forgot for around a week, and then when I went to try the soap again I realised I had lost almost all of the menthol from it. Didn't know it could evaporate from within a soap.
Since then I've used the soap 5-6 times but been disappointed each time until this morning. I must have finally scraped off all the soap which had been exposed to the air and got a good whack of menthol again.
I've lost count of the number of shaves this vintage Wilkinson Sword blade has done. I think it must be a similar number to @Mark1966's Light Brigade blade, but (presuming I remember to swap it out) I think it's the end of the road for this one.

Thought I would give the Glacial Obsidian a go with my new found lathering skills. WOW - even more menthol than I remember. Didn't even notice the Floid hit the face at the end - it was still numb.
That's when you know you have a good menthol soap. Same happened with the Aqua Velva for me this morning.

Hard lesson learned this morning.

Knew I had screwed up the lather - persisted anyway, and then pushed on for BBS with a third pass & clean up - with a straight! Yes, stupid award goes to me today.
Shave itself felt okay, but I was pressed for time and didn't want to clean the brush and start again.
Thayers (contains alcohol) had me yodelling and the razor burn is bad enough that my colleague asked if I was sunburnt.

Ouch... stupid is as stupid does....

Soap: Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore
I love everything about that soap except one thing... it is GRITTY! I hate it. My XXX did the same thing. It's like it now has sand in it. No idea what causes the soap to split like this, but it's a deal breaker IMO. Anyone have a way to fix it?
What a pity! It's a fantastic soap indeed -one of my favourites. It's interesting that yours 'split' as the sample you gave me hasn't. Neither has the jar I got from @SydBJW so it's strange how yours split and mine hasn't. (Same goes for the Jabonman "Limo-Intense" of Eggy's et al) Perhaps it's because (1) I don't leave it out more than 30 mins to dry and (2) store it between uses in a cool, dark and dry location (in a drawer). It's likely the heat makes it split.
I don't have any clue how to fix it. @Anthony may have some idea, but his soaps never seem to have that issue I find. Perhaps it's the menthol...?

Brush: Simpsons Persian Jar 2 Best Badger
Soap: Saponifico Varesino 70th Anniversary (Sample thanks to @silver)
Razor: Eclipse Red Ring
Blade: Gillette Bleue Extra [6]
After-shave splash: Truefitt & Hill 1805 splash

The SV 70th Anniversary lathers well and has a pleasing scent. Many thanks to @silver for the sample to try. (y)

Pre: GFT Limes Skin Food
Brush: Simpson Chubby "Chubbeast" 2 Best Badger (I noticed, previously typed Fine, don't know why =S)
Soap: Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary
Razor: iKon B1 OSS (SB Side)
Blade: Personna Lab Blues
AS: Alum, Thayers WH Aloe, Aesop Moroccan Neroli

@filobiblic no worries! Glad you enjoyed it. It's a very nice soap. Would gladly recommend it to anyone here.

Another great face lather. I think it's a little hard to turn back to bowl lathering now. Another great shave.
I think my fav blades are still Feather. The Lab Blues are okay, but certainly doesn't feel as sharp as the Feather. Was a little rushing for time today, I might have sped up the shave a little. Face feels just a tad raw now, but no burns no nicks. I'm happy with that.

Another Damn Fine Shave. What a way to start the long Easter Weekend.
Glad I've nailed down the face lathering with my favourite 29mm knot. Really happy with this brush.
P.S. only one hair dropped today. :)

Brush: Simpsons M7 Manchurian
Razor: Vintage Personna Tech
Blade: Vintage British Personna
Soap: Mikes Pine and Cedarwood
A/S: PAA Tombstone

Quick and effortless three pass BBS today. Mikes lathered easily and quickly, the Personna Tech is great little razor, a touch more aggressive than the Gillette Tech.

Glad I've nailed down the face lathering with my favourite 29mm knot. Really happy with this brush.

Happy to hear only one hair shed today. It is the king of face lather brushes.

Just a thought: a lot of people like to leave their brushes to dry thoroughly before the next shave with them. Can't remember why. The Chubby takes a good 36 hours to dry properly. I notice that you use it a few days in a row.

Noted, I will let it dry thoroughly. Been using it two days in a row now, it's just hard to let it go.
Yea you're right, it takes a lot of days to actually fully dry up.
I can see why it's the King of face lather brush. Such a great brush it is.(y)

SOTD Pt 3 (FINAL) Gillette Toggle & FatBoy (Face Off)
Gillette Toggle 1960 F4 & Gillette FatBoy 1958 D4
And the winner is....
<now that would give the game away!>

Nice review and thanks for your concluding thoughts. It'd be good to post them on the Toggle Pass-around thread so others can enjoy them. (They tend to get buried in this SOTD thread.) [emoji106]

Mate, are you ambidextrous?
It appears to be the case and explains why you were not concerned by my concern of a dominant hand providing a better shave than the secondary hand.
Thank you for taking the time to compile a thorough review upon this and glad you enjoyed the experience :)

Pre: Musgo Real Glyce Soap
Brush: Simpson Duke 2 Best
Soap: Klar Seifen
Razor: Gillette Slim (6)
Blade: Voskhod (1)
AS: Speick Splash

Shave of the gods today. The Klar was incredible (seriously, if you haven't tried it you really need to) and the Duke was its usual stellar self. I tried a new Voskhod and it was excellent, no nicks, smooth and sharp. I may be a convert. The Slim is fast becoming my favourite razor.

Floid Blue aftershave

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (13)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Martin de Candre
Aftershave: Tabac After Shave Lotion

Some shaves deserve a picture :)

I recently sent 'Dr Suds' @SydBJW the last of my Tabac soap as there was only a little left and he had not tried it. There was not enough Tabac splash to be worth sending, in fact only one shave's worth. So today is the day that the Tabac ran out!

This is a truly amazing event as it just lasts and lasts....

I seriously got this aftershave not long after I started with DE in 2010. I think it was a winter purchase that year. So, on and off, this has lasted almost six years!

See - you CAN save money at this caper!

BTW anybody collect Tabac bottles? This is the now discontinued one :)

Light Brigade going strong.

Fatboy remains a joy to use.

Vintage butterscotch Simpson M1 whips up a great lather.

MdC great as usual.

Happy shave = happy day!
