Omega 48 Pro
Super-Max Menthol
TN Dickinson's WH / Nivea Originals AS Splash / Natio Maximum ASB

Magnificent shave in the arvo using Super-Max Menthol. This is a budget cream made in Bulgaria, which is very slick, but it is on the thinner side. Today, I used more product and nailed it - about 1.5x the usual amount. A very close shave with no nicks and no irritation, which resulted in a very happy face. The menthol is very subtle and there's a twist of sweetness about it, which I can't put a finger on (maybe vanilla). I've never been picky about scents and its never been a deal-breaker for me, but I think I am growing fond of this scent, which I would say is an added bonus.

Happy Easter & Happy Shaving Everyone !!

Mastro Livi RWL34, 9/8 Full Hollow, French Point

RWL34! This stainless steel remains one of my favorite ones for a straight razor's blade. This is the case of this Mastro Livi razor giving a very deep and smooth shave with its typical RWL34 touch. The French point is very effective in shaving some tricky spots thanks to its precision. It is now sometime I am using horse brushes and I admit I like them, giving a good compromise between softness and backbone. Arko soap is always a good performing choice and the super cooling finishing touch of my Thyrrenus aftershave did the rest. I thought it was the right aftershave for this sunny day.
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: Arko
  • Brush: Vie-Long Horse Brush 13061, 24mm knot
  • Bowl: Gerby Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Medium Loom Strop "Coramella Italiana" and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi RWL34, 9/8 Full Hollow, French Point
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Umbrian Extravirgin Olive Oil
  • After Shave: RazorGuy Thyrrenus

Preshave: Proraso Red
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89 with Windrose handle
Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux
Brush: Vie Long Horse
Soap: Proraso Red
Post Shave: Alum and Clubman Pinaud AS
Three pass shave for a day and a half of growth. The Proraso cream is a solid performer at a good price point. Thoroughly enjoyable shave with the result being a smooth face with not a nick or any irritation in sight. Great fun.

Fourth shave with the Schick. While I feel like a blind man with no hands could make this razor his daily user I can't seem to get that BBS I crave. After three passes I get reasonably close shave most areas but as for under the chin and around the mouth it just can't make it through the the tuff stuff. I tried stretching my skin like a straight razor and that did help a little. Is this normal for you Schick users?

@bald as @khun_diddy

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (15)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson reknotted in Pure
Soap/Cream: Mike's Natural Shave Soap - Barbershop
Aftershave: Ogallala Bay Rum, Lime and Peppercorns

Using the 'approved' method with the Mike's it whips up an AMAZING lather. The Fatboy and Light Brigade just slide across my face - cutting hair? No, could not have been it was so smooth - but, hey, hang on, this is BBS - seriously good shave!

While I will NEVER do a shave video (fine for those who do but not my thing) I just had to show you the lather on my face before the first passs -

(Boring Accountants, like dentists, can't show their face though - sorry)

YIKES! God Crikey @Mark1966 I've must have drank way too bloody scotch whisky, or maybe I need a new pair of glasses before I get myself back into shaving :p I'm glad to be home and I missed my bare bed so much and didn't realise is Autumn now in our Aussie back yard SH:mad:T!

Razor: Gillette Slim
Blade: Schick plus platinum
Soap: yeti snot
Brush: omega 10005
A/S: floid vigoroso
Extrastyptic pencil

Not often I have to break out the alum or styptic, but I got too casual with the effortless shaving I was having with the new blade and caught myself three times!
Twice I knocked the top off pre existing razor bumps and also somehow mini sliced my cheek too.

With that Yeti Snot on the face I'm not surprised - could you even feel your face?

This and the Glacial Obsidian need to come with warning labels ;)

That sure is a classy looking shave mate - great shot that blends the vintage and modern beautifully to my eye!

Can't help with the questions though :(

SOTD with a Toggle

Brush: Semogue Mistura
Soap: Coate's Superior Tea Tree Shaving Cream
Razor: Gillette Toggle (Setting 3)
Blade: Gillette Platinum
After: Thayers and Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage & Cedar

My sincere thanks to @borked for kindly loaning me his beloved Toggle and @FatBoy58 for the try of the Coate's.

My review of the Toggle, click here. A must read.

The Coate's Tea Tree cream performed surprisingly well. Not a fan of the scent - old fashioned; it reminds me of something from my late grandmothers house, however it was very easy to lather and performed remarkably well. Unlike some creams that need constant dips brush tips into water, this cream stayed hydrated right through the shave. Heaps of protection and glide. The makers have stopped making this cream but I believe that some retailers still have stock.

Nice SOTD @Lifes a Peach and big (y) to @borked and @FatBoy58 for making it happen.

One of the disadvantages of my collection is that the really nice ones can't realistically go on road trips :(

How did you like the Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage and Cedar?

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (16)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson H2 Boar
Soap/Cream: P.160 Professional Sapone Speciale Per Barba Tipo Morbido
Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve

I had more time this morning so I had a 'play' experimenting with building lather using the classic soap.

This method certainly brings out the marzipan/almond scent - which shows no signs of disappearing with age - very powerful and always takes me back to the early shaving days with Cella and then the P.160.

The Simpson H2 Boar felt more comfortable on the face this morning - probably tied up with the better lather.

Speaking of which, lather shots (and progression in building it) here - Lather Shots

Let me just give you ONE sample though -

I've not spoken much about the blade - but these Light Brigades are phenomenal! Thanks heaps @borked for the couple of samples. This is shave 16 and it still seems as smooth and sharp as the second one.

Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve is a polarising, love it or hate it scent. Very 'old school' and not for everybody I accept. A review on basenotes sums it up well though - 'This is definitely what Indiana Jones smelled like.' Nothing more really needs to be said.

[Yes, this was $US8.29 (plus tax) for a 6 fl oz bottle at the famous Pasteur Pharmacy in NYC - courtest of a trip in 2010]

Off treasure hunting for me now guys, hmmm, where did I put that whip ...
