Soap: Shaver Heaven, Arctic Mango Extreme
Brush: Edwin Jagger badger
Face lather
Blade: Inoue Fujisuke kamisori

Last long weekend shave today and the kami got the nod again. Superb lather with the Arctic Mango Extreme and I'm really enjoying the cooling effect of cold water rinse-off's after the shave. I always cold water shave so I don't know whether this increases or lessens the sensation of menthol but it is an enjoyable sensation. When I first started with the pencil thin mo several weeks ago I found the kami hard to use due to the one-handed operation. With a bit of practice I find shaving the top lip and shaping the fiddly pencil thin an area the kami excels in. Most things can be mastered if we want to. I was so enjoying this shave I went for a 4th pass and reaped my best kami shave yet. Did't finish the job on 2 spots but the rest is all good.

Back to work tomorrow so back to the straights.

Nice SOTD @Lifes a Peach and big (y) to @borked and @FatBoy58 for making it happen.

One of the disadvantages of my collection is that the really nice ones can't realistically go on road trips :(

How did you like the Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage and Cedar?

Thanks Mark. I enjoy the entire Ogallala range. The sandalwood one is my favourite but they all finish off a shave with masculine panache.

SOTD with a Toggle

Brush: Semogue Mistura
Soap: Coate's Superior Tea Tree Shaving Cream
Razor: Gillette Toggle (Setting 3)
Blade: Gillette Platinum
After: Thayers and Ogallala Bay Rum, Sage & Cedar

My sincere thanks to @borked for kindly loaning me his beloved Toggle and @FatBoy58 for the try of the Coate's.

My review of the Toggle, click here. A must read.

The Coate's Tea Tree cream performed surprisingly well. Not a fan of the scent - old fashioned; it reminds me of something from my late grandmothers house, however it was very easy to lather and performed remarkably well. Unlike some creams that need constant dips brush tips into water, this cream stayed hydrated right through the shave. Heaps of protection and glide. The makers have stopped making this cream but I believe that some retailers still have stock.
Mate, not a problem, you came recommended as a potential victim to give her a round or two :)

That is true and the advantage of a very much user grade razor.
I can whore her out without worrying about plating loss, while your Maidens can be mounted upon their respective shelves, shining away :)

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (16)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson H2 Boar
Soap/Cream: P.160 Professional Sapone Speciale Per Barba Tipo Morbido
Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve

I had more time this morning so I had a 'play' experimenting with building lather using the classic soap.

This method certainly brings out the marzipan/almond scent - which shows no signs of disappearing with age - very powerful and always takes me back to the early shaving days with Cella and then the P.160.

The Simpson H2 Boar felt more comfortable on the face this morning - probably tied up with the better lather.

Speaking of which, lather shots (and progression in building it) here - Lather Shots

Let me just give you ONE sample though -

I've not spoken much about the blade - but these Light Brigades are phenomenal! Thanks heaps @borked for the couple of samples. This is shave 16 and it still seems as smooth and sharp as the second one.

Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve is a polarising, love it or hate it scent. Very 'old school' and not for everybody I accept. A review on basenotes sums it up well though - 'This is definitely what Indiana Jones smelled like.' Nothing more really needs to be said.

[Yes, this was $US8.29 (plus tax) for a 6 fl oz bottle at the famous Pasteur Pharmacy in NYC - courtest of a trip in 2010]

Off treasure hunting for me now guys, hmmm, where did I put that whip ...
Two blades probably appear to be that generous when receiving them, yet now you're giving them a run, it's like they don't quit :)
First time I used one, I managed about a month straight use.

So perhaps you won't need all 4 boxes of them in this lifetime?! It just means that there are plenty to share around via trades and sales... [emoji16]

Oh yeah! :)

I NEVER thought that two blades (the size of the pack they came in what is more) was anything less than generous - but it has, to date, been outstanding!

Razor: Rockwell 6S (on #2)
Brush: RR Monster 26mm Synth
Soap: Stirling Barbershop
Blade: Permasharp (4)
After-shave splash: Myrsol Antesol

I'll be shaving again in the morning, so decided to do a quick and easy 2 pass job this afternoon. Thought I would drop from setting #4 to #2 to make it smooth and potentially not as close. Umm, no. Again, don't want to go into too much detail, but was getting great audio feedback and as close to bbs as I ever go in 2 passes (wtg, xtg).

Maybe for others... :p

Oh no! ;)

I'm glad you appreciated them, irrelevant the number received :)
Not used to that.

Pre: Musgo Real Glyce
Brush: Epsilon 27mm Horsehair
Razor: Gillette Slim (6)
Blade: Voskhod (3)
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
A/S: Alum, Thayers, Baxter's Balm

The Epsilon is a great brush and made short work of the MWF. Lather shots here.
I never really got MWF until today. It was a good soap, but that was about it. But today, oh boy! A cracking shave and my skin felt amazing. The only reason I used post shave products was out of habit. Skin didn't need them at all.

Brush: Simpsons Duke 3 Best Badger 2-band (god I missed this brush so much)
Razor: Parker 31R Shavette
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (5, 2nd half of the blade)
Soap/Cream: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post/After Shave: Alum Block / T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent / Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Fragrance: L'Occitane Baux EDT
Time: Who cares I'm enjoying myself wet shaving, love making a bloody mess and clean up after I'm done.

Since I've been using Haslinger Sheeps Milk & Lanolin while I was away in UK, so it time I should go back to MWF for a change and is still a great shaving soap.

I've been told by Masons back in the very old early days of wet shaving when they don't make any aftershave balm they've used olive oil which has enrichment of vitamin E which is good for our skin, trouble is you only used this as a very very small amount of olive oil about 3 or 5 drops at least and apply them with both wet hands to much oil is not good. Than give your chin or face a real good long and gentle massage until completely absorb into your skin and the irritation of razor burn will completely settle down after a while, than you can apply you're favorite fragrance OMG I still love L'Occitane Baux EDT so much make me feel 10 years younger IF I can do 50 pushup :p;)

I still have so much to learn about my Masonic family history and the Masonic history in wet shaving, oh well it great to be home and I've got planning to do on straight razor gear supplies and do some complete research on straight also is their any Australian made straight razor in our Aussie backyard or their oversea made.

Cheers ;)

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (17)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Mike's Natural Soaps - Barbershop
Aftershave: B&M Barristers Reserve Original

First thoughts on the sample from the wonderful @shavetheman

WOW, smells like ethanol

WOW, there is a lot in here, it is everywhere

Preshave: Proraso Red
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89 with Windrose Handle
Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux
Brush: Shavemac 177
Soap: Mystic Water and Castle Forbes(Uber Lather)
Post Shave: Razorock Lime balm and Blue Stratos AS
Two pass shave with a touch up under the chin. Experimented with a combination of Mystic Water Windjammer and Castle Forbes Cedar and Sandalwood. The Castle Forbes scent overwhelmed the Mystic Water but the lather was enormous. A few drops of glycerin for extra glide and the lather grew some more. Super slick, lots of cushion with enormous peaks. Ahh yes the shave was great.

Catching up for the last four days. I've been camping in the bush over Easter but the shaves continue! This out of the back of the car each morning;

Grandfathers shaving kit;

Simpsons "New Forest" - starting to shed (lost a couple of hairs each shave) & new cracks have opened up despite the original ones being epoxied. Damn shame because the knot is great!
Parker 510 6/8 - Swedish steel worked by the Japanese... say no more. Feather equipped Murker 34c in there for back-up.
Arko - not bad, awesome for $2.95! Could do with some more slickness but more than adequate. Serves very well as a travel stick.
Shaver Heaven Balm - excellent as you know.

The New Forest is not a Simpson made brush :)

They were :( made but a British 'hobbyist' but he closed shop - http://newforestbrushes.blogspot.com.au/

Still ticked at AusFail for what they did to that brush.

I had it in mind the knot was a Simpsons, but the handle was by "New Forest? No?
I'm as pissed as you. I had accepted the handle was dead but figured the knot would be unaffected. I'm optimistic like that.

Might be time to try and remove the knot and save it???? What do you think @Mark1966? How much used did you give it? I don't know if the shedding is a "break in" thing (I have only used it about 8 times now, the last four over Easter) or a result of being driven over by an AusFail fork lift.

Hmmm, might be - I don't honestly know!

Ditto - although the way they cracked that handle ...

Might be time to try and remove the knot and save it???? What do you think @Mark1966?
- That was my thought originally BUT - would that wreck the glue/plug further?

How much used did you give it?
Not much - but got it second hand

- which might have caused damage to the knot plug?

So... just put it on the shelf, cracks to the rear and have it as unobtainium eye candy, never to be used again.

OR

Try and salvage the knot, which may not be salvageable, and thereby potentially destroying it completely.

Gotta say... looks like option 1 to me.
