So... just put it on the shelf, cracks to the rear and have it as unobtainium eye candy, never to be used again.

OR

Try and salvage the knot, which may not be salvageable, and thereby potentially destroying it completely.

Gotta say... looks like option 1 to me.

OR

continue to use and see what happens?

Cost nothing so you can't lose - it is no good as a decoration so I'd go 2 or 3 personally - but it is your brush!

Pre-Shave: Occams pre-shave soap, cold water
Razor: BBS-1
Blade: Ladas (2)
Brush: Vie-Long Epsilon Horse
Lather: Esbjerg Grapefruit
Post-shave: Alum, Barrister & Man Kyovu Original, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

The lather can be seen here - another wonderful shave, but it is time to leave this razor/blade combo behind for now. I realised, that my technique becomes sloppy, when I stick to one razor for too long - and I just heard the good news, that a new loaner is on its way to me - hopefully just in time for my Thursday shave :D

Thank you guys - you're too kind...

Merkur 34C
Simpson Polo 8 Best
Vokshod
Dr Jon's Anne Bonny

Since I finally pulled the trigger on the aftershave I decided to remind myself why & used the soap.

Brush was a bit too wet to create the exact lather I wanted but I'm definitely getting better for those quick shaves.

Scary to think I nearly binned this soap thinking it was a dud that couldn't lather!

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (17)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson
Soap/Cream: Mike's Natural Soaps - Barbershop
Aftershave: B&M Barristers Reserve Original

First thoughts on the sample from the wonderful @shavetheman

WOW, smells like ethanol

WOW, there is a lot in here, it is everywhere

Will come back after a second attempt with more considered feedback I think!
Mate, what is it with you and after shaves as of late?
Should we place you upon a balm only diet until you've matters under control?

Wash your mouth out with soap!!!
Mate, you're doing it wrong, should be posting something like "Ahh so a motivated seller/trader? PM me :)" for maximum benefit ;)

What's your opinion on the Ejsberg?

Yeah what's the Ejsberg like

First of all I am Austrian and might therefore be biased. And then I picked this one up directly from their beautiful store in Vienna and didn't pay any shipping costs...so please bear those things in mind.

It is a really nice "hard" cream with a beautiful scent. The only reason it can be called a cream, is because you can scoop it out. In every other regard it behaves like a soap - most importantly it needs the same amount of work as a soap. But it gives an ultraslick lather as it can take TONS and I really mean TONS of water. The scent is very pleasant and not overpowering, yet it lingers with you for quiet some time...

Really nice IMO and great to have in the den - BUT if I had the choice, I'd still take Mike's or MW every time - without even going into price calculations...

Same shave two days in a row...

Soap: Van Yulay - Lime & Coconut
Brush: Savile Row 3124
Razor: Weber PH with Bulldog handle
Blade: Personna Lab Blue
Post-shave: Havana Splash

I love that weber razor. But it's worth so much these days, and I would love a top notch manchurian brush... I'd consider a swap for an amazing brush... 24mm 2 band Shavemac is what I have my eye on...

Razor: Gillette F4 Fatboy (5)
Blade: Wilkinson Sword 'Light Brigade' (18)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson 'The Duke'
Soap/Cream: D R Harris Marlborough
Aftershave: Captain's Choice Cat 'o' Nine Tails

I know somebody here (please forgive me for forgetting who) uses the phrase 'don't chase BBS, let it find you' or similar.

Today I had that experience.

I was expecting just a 'process' shave, didn't have time for any mucking about, it was a quick lather with the closest soap and finish with the first aftershave I grabbed. My expectations were low.

As I finished I realised that actually, it was a pretty dam good shave. Sitting here a couple of hours later with a smooth face and the occasional hint of a very pleasant scent I'm conscious of how the new 'ordinary' is very much better than years and years of yuck.

[contented sigh]

Have a great day guys!

Preshave: Proraso Red
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89 with Windrose handle
Blade: Personna Med Prep
Brush: Shavemac 177
Soap: Martin de Candre Fougere
Post Shave: Nivea Balm and Old Spice AS
Two pass shave with a clean up under the chin. The scent of the Martin de Candre fills the bathroom and provides the setting for a very satisfying experience. No thinking about what to do, it is just done. The result is a very smooth face and extreme satisfaction. What a wonderful thing to be wet shaving.

Brush: Shavemac 2-Band
Soap: Cold River Soap Works Jardin D'Orange
Razor: Schick Krona
Blade: Schick Premium
After-shave splash: Myrsol Antesol
Scent: Terre D'Hèrmes

I thought I'd use the (mild) Schick razor I have with the Schick blades I traded with @Monsta_AU recently. They tugged a little at first but eventually smoothed out over the shave. The lather produced by an outstanding brush and terrific soap was truly wonderful. I really am grateful for our Lathermeister @alfredus whose direction and advice has improved my lathering.
Thinking on what is essential for a great shave (as an earlier thread has thrown about), I still say that it's technique. BUT I can say that lathering is the most overlooked feature of wet shaving and certainly contributes to an enjoyable shave. I think it's because we think it's easy and simple - rub a brush across soap and then rub on to face. But I've come to realise that just as technique is critical for razors, so too is technique critical to lathering. In today's case, it turned an average shave into a special shave. (And then I finished with proven winners in the aftershave/scent department!!! [emoji38])
