Mastro Livi Kamisori, 13/16 French Point, Hakkapella Damasteel, Abalone Handle

Kamisori shave is always fascinating, add to this the beauty and super performance of a Mastro Livi kamisori, you simply get a stellar top notch shave. This kamisori has the exclusive Mastro Livi kamisori grinding, giving the omote side of the blade an extra cutting performance than a traditional Japanese kamisori. Not to mention the mesmerizing Damasteel Hakkapella pattern and the abalone handle, this Mastro Livi kamisori is an incredible masterpiece. I am also very happy about my home made almond oil shaving cream proving to be incredible with a supple, round, moisturizing and very protective lather. This Mastro Livi Super Silvertip Badger brush easily mounted a perfect and rich lather. The finishing touch has been delivered by my homemade Bay Rum aftershave I made with real dark rum and real pimenta racemosa leaves.

Pre:
Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: DR Harris H3 Best Badger
Soap: B&M Lavanille
Razor: ATT Kronos M2
Blade: Vintage Perma-Sharp Triple Life (2)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
Splash: Myrsol Plastic Shave

Second spin with the vintage Perma-Sharp. Woah Boy - very close three pass shave; BBS with zero nicks/weepers, nor irritation. Would seem to be following the pattern I see with many vintage blades - an OK first shave, then stellar performance for at least the next half-dozen outings.
Lovely scent and performance from the B&M Lavanille.

Razor: Vintage Eclipse Red Ring
Blade: Vintage Australian Gillette Super Stainless [aka "Aussie Spoiler"] (6)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson 'M1'
Soap/Cream: Squadron Soap Spitfire
Aftershave Splash: Australian Private Reserve - Lavande violette

Another great shave - nice way to finish the working week.

  • Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Soap
  • Soap: Barrister & Mann Cologne Russe
  • Brush: Paladin PK47 28mm Bulb Tigris Perla
  • Strop: Kanayama
  • Razor: Es=Ex Razor 6/8"
  • Post-Shave: Alum, B&M Reserve Cool
I was never quite sure about this Paladin knot. I always preferred my other Paladin (a fan with more backbone). Today though it blew me away with softness, flow through and an incredible lather.

Pre: Shower
Brush: The Joker (T's Turning, New Forest Badger)
Soap: APR - General Ledger
Razor: Lone Wolf 6/8 Hollow
Post: APR - General Ledger Splash

So after two sub par shaves I went back to what I know will work! This fellah (razor) is off to a new home so fresh off the hone I gave it one last shave and is ready to rehome. This brush is 18mm at the handle IIRC - and man does it hold it's own very nicely with the other big boys who are in the 28-30mm range. Top knot, just lacks the face presence of a larger knot (naturally) but that is all it lacks. Holds plenty of lather, excellent flow through etc. Thoroughly enjoy it and is great for travels as it dries quickly. Unfortunately though it's days are numbered as it's marked for sale as part of the on going fund-raising. All adds up to a great 2 pass DFS+ irritation free as is the norm.

Razor: PAA OC Slant - ox blood
Blade: Astra SP (3)
Brush: Muhle Silvertip Synthetic
Soap/cream: APR General Ledger
Splash: cold water
Post: TSW AS Balm

After reducing the pressure and using the lightest of guidance I was to achieve a BBS minus the blood into the sink this time. Have to think differently when using this DE as it can bite.
APR lathers so well. Before I read the scent profile I was thinking leather, moss and floral but my head cold tells me different this afternoon.
Special thanks @Greenpike for the goods.

Pre-Shave: @khun_diddy Olive Oil Soap, cold water
Razor: Weber PH UFO Titan L
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Brush: Tony Forsyth Platypus Prototype Bob Quinn Manchurian
Lather: Mike's Hungarian Lime
Post-shave: Alum, Stirling Bay Laurel Witch Hazel, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Maybe today was the last day this season to truly enjoy a pure summer scent like Mike's Lime and I had to take. The Bob Quinn Manchurian knot is another fantastic knot, that is easily available these day and maybe therefore a bit underrated - not in my den. They both resulted in a spectacular lather (picture here) - but then I didn't expected anything else. Together with the Weber and a fresh Voskhod blade I had a fantastic and very close shave.

I hope you have a great weekend ahead (y)

Donna Summer - Love To Love You Baby

Bellissimo

Brush: Omega Synthetic Hi-Brush
Soap: Proraso Green
Razor: FaTip Gold "Festina Gentile" (Gentle Head) Razor
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Green (6)
Lotion: Alum / Mennen Skin Bracer / Nivea Post-Shave Balm / Pinaud Clubman Talc

The FaTip Gold, paired with the 7 O'Clock Green blade (D6), provided another superb shave. Today, I simply loaded the blade, carefully tightened things up, and took the razor for a spin. There were no nicks, cuts or weepers, nor have there been with this smooth and mild razor. The blade alignment problem, such as it is, now seems a marginal issue given the overall excellent performance of the razor. I am happy to have it.

Alfie - that handle looks a bit flimsy. Do you want me to find something beefier? ;)

Pre: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Semogue SOC Boar
Soap: Razor Master Toivo Pine Tar
Razor: ATT Kronos M2
Blade: Vintage Personna Triple Life (3)
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
EDP: APR General Ledger

Dermatologists often prescribe pine tar products, due to their skin-friendly properties. Funny to think that the Finns were onto this in the late 19th century with their shaving soaps. Love my Toivo.
The Vintage Personna blade has slightly more blade feel than most vintage blades I have tried, but so far its performance has been very good indeed.
Three passes for a DFS+, with no blood nor irritation.
The new APR range of EDP's is outstanding - the General Ledger is a dark, mysterious and complex take on Fougère.
Bravo @todras !
