Brush: Vie-Long Horse
Razor: Gem MM Bullet Tip
Blade: Gem SS coated(5)
Post: APR, Suitably Attired Australian

A suitably attired Saturday shave

My first time using APR and a most enjoyable experience. Lather was great, fantastic cushion for a smooth shave. Loved the scent and the slight sting of alcohol followed by a great skin feel. I'm smelling much better than usual! Looking forward to the winter release.

First use of the MM Bullet Tip. I was very cautious using this for the first time but to me it didn't feel overly aggressive, I would say more so than the Featherweight but smoother, perhaps because of the added weight. But no nicks and a very close shave. I will have to try an OC MM one day to compare.

Have a great day and a great shave

Agarwood, Benzoin and Birch Tar with a suggestion of clove and cinnamon and done very well indeed, dark, deep and brooding. Really dig it, probably too deep for some.

Scent sounds amazing @todras - I love these "darker" heavier scents for cooler weather! Could you bring along to the next meet up?

Will do, I'll leave myself a reminder in the thread.

If you like dark, you honestly could not get much darker than this badboy!

MLS Preshave butter / MLS 'Drunken Goat' / Vie Long Horsehair / Permasharp vintage blade / Gillette British Flaretip / Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve
I have been looking forward to this first shave with the vintage Permasharp blades - but also a bit nervous as these vintage blades are a bit of a gamble! (and I bought 120 of them :nailbiting:)
A little more care with my prep than usual with some Mickey Lee Soapworks sandalwood pre shave butter for some extra glide. Lovely MLS lather with the heavenly smell of caramel, stout and oatmeal from the "Drunken Goat".
The blade paper was quite brittle and the glue had deteriorated over the years - I though it was a rust spot on the blade, but it was only on the paper. The blade was pristine.

A lot of people comment that the first shave is a little rough with these vintage blades and the subsequent shaves are smoother - if thats the case then I'm in for some smooth shaves ahead because this first run was awesome. Ive only used a couple of vintage blades before but this felt "right". Sharp but also smooth - possibly a combination of the razor choice and the blade, but it felt like I could have finished at two-passes. I went for a third ATG pass and got a silky smooth BBS.
There is a "6th blade free' attached to the back of the dispenser in a little envelope - these blades also look in good shape.

Generous splash of "Special Reserve" to celebrate the special maiden voyage of the vintage blade - there is something amazing about using a razor from the 1950's with a blade probably from early-mid-60's and having them both perform so well after all these years.

Enjoy your Saturday folks :)

Razor: Rockwell 6S - 3
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium (1)
Brush: Semogue SOC Boar
Soap: OSP Fougère
Post: Witch Hazel, TSW Balm

Very nice 1 pass this morning.
I’ve fallen a bit out of love with the OSP soap, it seems to be lacking residual slickness a bit.

Have a great weekend all!

Lather: - Haslinger Schafmilch Sheep Milk & Lanolin (very similar to MWF)

I must say, I have used both of these soaps and I find them entirely different in composition and lather. What in particular makes you say they are very similar ?

I have noticed you mention it a few times and I am curious :)

Love to see the Special Reserve get a run!

Oh, congrats on the blade too :)
