Razor: Vintage British Aristocrat #15
Blade: Vintage Australian Gillette Super Stainless [aka "Aussie Spoiler"] (1)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson 'The Duke'
Soap/Cream: Squadron Soap 'Spitfire' / Squadron Soap 'Group Captain's Blend'
Aftershave Balm: Australian Private Reserve 'Un côtelette de porc' balm
Aftershave Splash: Australian Private Reserve 'Un côtelette de porc' splash

Didn't want to get unlucky (shave 13) so swapped in a new blade.

Finished off the little that was left of the Spitfire in the first pass - re-lathered for the second.

Decided to be indulgent with TWO post shave products, 'cause it is a BIG day here in Canberra, Budget Night !!!!!

Gillette Blue 2 disposable
Monsavon Bol a Raser
Omega 80266 Boar
Re-lather and cold rinse

A lazy shave today. Just couldn't be arsed quite frankly and the result shows it a bit. Coming to the end of the Monsavon so I used a lot of product to nearly get there and got a pretty good lather as a result I must say - this stuff requires it. I had to re-hydrate this puck as it had dried out and mash it to get it back to the cream it should have been but was rewarded for having done so. Scent is still very artificial though so I won't be sorry to see the end of it.

Thanks for the kind thoughts in this thread everyone...

In a continuing vein of shitty quality photos from me I give you a new low; (too late to go home and retake it!)

Pre: Abbie & Grace Soap Works Soap - White Tea & Ginger
Brush: The Joker (TF Handle, New Forest 18mm badger)
Soap: Jabonman Tallow - Agarwood
Razor: Gillette Tech
Blade: Voshkod (2)
Post: APR - General Ledger, TSW - After Balm

NO troubles with getting a 10/10 for performance with this sample. I went for a small brush this time, since it was a sample. Maybe had something to do with it, I don't know. I will revisit the previous sample tomorrow and see if I can get more glide out of it. Today however I found exactly what I was after, heaps of persistent glide, lots of residual slickness. In fact, I will go out on a limb here and say this is the best performing lather I have ever experienced. Scent was underwhelming, but nothing bad. Just didn't give me that "wow, I love this" feeling that I get from others. It was gone as I washed off for a nice post shave feel and I followed up the woody scent with General Ledger. I haven't used this in a while and I was instantly wowed. That's what a scent should be like! I love rediscovering scents that have, for no reason, dropped from regular use. It's like I have made a new purchase without the cash outlay.

Razor: Rockwell 6S #3 with heavy handle
Blade: Polsilver SI
Soap: Shaver Heaven - Barbershop
Brush: Maggard synth
Post: Anherb Aftershave Conditioner

Today was a very effortless shave! The 6S with PolSilver just glided right through the stubble! It was an effortless BBS as compared to yesterdays shave with the Spoiler blade (that was a good shave too but required a lot more effort). The heavy handle helps in that I really just guide the razor and it does all the work. The length of the handle also helps obtain the perfect balance, which is difficult with the 6S head due to its weight.

The SH Barbershop produced an awesome lather, like all SH soaps...however, by the last pass, I had tingling around the lips (I'm quite sensitive to fragrances in shaving soaps). With great regret, this one will have to go :(

The Anherb ASB is my all-time favourite balm. It's a milk so absorbs rapidly and soothes the skin instantly! The subtle menthol is nice and refreshing, which I appreciate in the current warm weather. At $4 a bottle locally, this stuff is magic and lasts me 6 months of daily use!!

Well a definite excellent performance from the Ming Shi 2000. Set on three it sounded a lot like a 5/8" full hollow with an excellent edge. A severe blade gap is not apparent because for once I've found a DE razor that has a wonderfully narrow zone of shaving and when that angle is correct you sense the blade and the shave is amazingly smooth. 2 passes DFS. One slight nick but that is due to the fact DE blades are aware I bleed.

Ming Shi 2000 - Excellent
Semogue 2000 - Excellent
My soap
DFS and smiling.

Back to the familiar straight tomorrow night but the Ming Shi has a Futur in my rotation.

Brush: Omega Synthetic Hi-Brush
Soap: Proraso Green
Razor: Merkur Progress (+2)
Blade: Derby Extra (1)
Lotion: Omega Alum Stick / Mennen Skin Bracer / Nivea Post Shave Balm / Pinaud Clubman Talc

Not a DFS, but no nicks or cuts with the Progress. I am learning how to use this bad boy! Seriously though, the difficulty has been with my technique with the razor and I do know it. But today was encouraging, since I truly like the Progress and wish to include it in my rotation.

I used a two-pass shave (WTG, XTG) and as is nearly always the case there was a bit of stubble left on the lower chin. I increased the setting of the Progress +.5, did a very light touch-up, and then left well enough alone.

Razor: Vintage British Aristocrat #15
Blade: Vintage Australian Gillette Super Stainless [aka "Aussie Spoiler"] (2)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson 'H2' boar
Soap/Cream: Squadron Soap 'Group Captain's Blend'
Aftershave Splash: Australian Private Reserve 'Un côtelette de porc' splash
Aftershave Balm: Australian Private Reserve 'Un côtelette de porc' balm

Well I survived last nights excitement (so boring!) and decided to mix it up this morning - splash first and THEN balm following the pattern of some others here.

The Squadron Soap performed fantastically as usual BUT the clicking of the brush against the tin while loading disturbed my, not a good occurrence at 5am :( Looking forward to the new containers @SchoolForAnts for the sake of marital harmony!

My money is on you having pulled an all nighter Mark :D

  • Soap: L&L Grooming Cuire et Epice
  • Brush: Shavemac D01 Americana
  • Strop: SRD Latigo
  • Razor: Es-Ex 6/8"
  • Post-Shave: Lea A/S Splash
I believe I say this every time I use it, but L&L is a top notch product. It's expensive, and being import only, is a bit of a pain to get in. An Aussie supplier would be awesome.

Hi @Sxot - I really enjoy your images :) hope you don't mind.

Steve

Do I mind!? Mate, I am both flattered that you bothered and excited that you did! Much better. Thanks. Maybe I need to look at getting something that can apply filters to hide the nastyness when it happens.
