Do I mind!? Mate, I am both flattered that you bothered and excited that you did! Much better. Thanks. Maybe I need to look at getting something that can apply filters to hide the nastyness when it happens.

My computer is on Linux and I use GIMP. It is like a mid weight version of Photoshop and easy to use. GIMP is also free for Windows as well.

I have gimp here at work for various tasks. I didn't know it had filters so thanks for the heads up. I will check it out. Thanks

GIMP has MANY features - some (especially filters) have to be downloaded separately...

I would also not rate it as a mid weight version of photoshop any more - talked to a professional photographer recently, and he has now fully abandoned adobe products in favour of GIMP & Co

Pre-Shave: @khun_diddy Olive Oil Soap, cold water
Razor: Rockwell 6S Plate 3 on loan from @nsavage
Blade: Ladas (2)
Brush: Maseto 2-band Finest
Lather: Mike's Bay Rum
Post-shave: Alum, Stirling Bay Laurel Witch Hazel, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Second shave with the Rockwell and it was very smooth - but also needed a fair bit of clean-up at the end. The Maseto replacement brush finally arrived and produced some stellar lather (picture here) - and this one hasn't lost one hair so far...

Brush: Omega Synthetic Hi-Brush
Soap: Proraso Green
Razor: Merkur Progress (+2)
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Green (1)
Lotion: Omega Alum Stick / Mennen Skin Bracer / Nivea Post Shave Balm / Pinaud Clubman Talc

A DFS with the 7 O'Clock Super Stainless blade. Using a shallow AOA, the Progress delivered a near bbs shave without incident.

Razor: Vintage British Aristocrat #15
Blade: Vintage Australian Gillette Super Stainless [aka "Aussie Spoiler"] (3)
Brush: Shavemac 'Americana' DO1 (?)
Soap/Cream: Squadron Soap 'Group Captain's Blend'
Aftershave Splash: Australian Private Reserve 'Un côtelette de porc' splash
Aftershave Balm: Australian Private Reserve 'Un côtelette de porc' balm

Oh lovely, doing the splash first then the balm works for me I think ...

Some say @bald as is, or was, a professional photographer. I don't have time for post processing though. I've got to get it right in the 30sec I have post shave before the bathroom is invaded by the next user and that is that. Hardly even have time to read the forums these days.

Pre: AoS Pre-shave oil (used as a moisturiser only)
Brush: Shavemac custom 28mm 3 band D01 silvertip
Soap: AoS - Sandalwood
Razor: Hoshi Tombo 8000
Post: Barristers Reserve - Classic

Damn you winter and your cool drying winds! After arriving home from my training ride with a face that felt like a mud flat in mid summer I needed to go to drastic measures. My forehead hurt when I raised my eyebrows! (I have three kids, a wife and a female young adult boarder - eyebrows get a workout!). The preshave oil does nothing for the shave as far as I can tell, none I have tried ever has but what it does do is soften the skin. It is quite heavy, but has a great dosing neck on the bottle where you put your finger, invert the bottle and remove. It's funnel shaped so excess oil runs back into the bottle rather than down the side and you have just a tiny about on your finger. Inspired. I would say it hydrates but it doesn't contain water... so it oildrates... or something. I put it on when I got home then by the time I shower, eat breakfast and raise my eyebrows several times it has absorbed and I'm ready for a shave. It's rarely used but does the trick when I do.

Shavemac - you are awesome. Every bit as good as any I have tried. Just because you are readily available doesn't make you less of a brush. Brand snobs who are down on Bernd for not being a poor businessman, for replying to emails, for being obtainable, for having a website!! - pull your head in. This is equal or better to M&F, Wilborg or anyone else you care to mention. I buy for performance. If you want exclusivity, go elsewhere.

Razor: Rockwell 6S - 3
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium (3)
Brush: Semogue SOC Boar
Soap: L&L Fougère, Bison Tallow
Post: Witch Hazel, TSW Balm

Very nice to shave with the 6s again after my first week using “The General” SE razor.

I think that I’ve been going a lot closer with the SE, so dialing it back a bit with the Rockwell was a welcome break. I missed the weight of the Rockwell a bit too. A brass General would be nice…

Razor: Apollo Slant
Blade: Shark (2)
Brush: l'occitane Plissonese
Soap: B&M Seville
Post: cold water and TSW Balm.

Efficient razor with minor blade feel so mild+ and weighted head so resisting the urge to apply pressure. Nice shave but need more practice with this piece of art.

Struggling with B&M glissant formula. Keeps drying out on me and losses sickness while on my face. I'm a face lather so have used more water combos and less or more soap. Thinking of using a bowl tomorrow. Non glissant b&m formula just works for me and most vegan based soaps but this is confusing me. Will use another brush and try again.

  • Soap: P&B Spitfire
  • Brush: Shavemac D01 2 Band Opus Summum No1.
  • Strop: SRD Latigo
  • Razor: Gotta 11/16"
  • Post-Shave: Myrsol F/Extra
A new razor which I received yesterday and honed up today and wow, it took such an amazing edge. Probably my best straight shave yet. The D01 2 Band had broken in further, and now has zero scritch, but a a whole heap of delightful scrub when required. This was an all round super shave.
