Good to hear that your relatives are safe @TomG, saddened to hear of those who lost their lives or were injured in Manchester. I know too of others here with friends and family in different parts of the world suffering ongoing persecution and hardship. I can 'only' hold all those at a distance in my thoughts and prayers, but closer to home I can hopefully bring some love and care into my immediate world.

As I shave with the razor of a long past soldier, use blades from a bygone era, lather with a great brush purchased on the B/S/T here from a bloke I've never met (@Psmith) but am grateful to and smell wonderful because of the 'hobby' of a very talented member (@todras) and his equally talented soap-making partner (@Sxot) I'm conscious that while this is not a world changing moment, and will certainly not get the media attention of Manchester, there is good in the world, there are wonderful, generous, kind and sacrificial people too. I'm very thankful.

Have a great shave and a great day guys.

Razor: Colonial General with Stray Whisker handle
Blade: Feather Pro (5)
Soap: APR Winterfell (first use)
Brush: TF Ash and Gold Synthetic
Post: Alum + APR Winterfell AS

Thoughts...
- Wow. The soap is a top performer. Brilliant cushion, glide and plenty of slickness. Scent is not quite as strong as Mycroft but it still works fine with the tallow base. If you haven't tried APR soap this is the formula. I look forward to lots more use.
- if you haven't tried a Colonial General then you are an idiot. Get one.

Windsor soap for pre-shave
Feather AC DX kami with Kai guarded blade (10)
Cella
Proraso brush
Re-lather and cold rinse

Ah Cella! 3 pass BBS with no fuss today. Third pass wasn't really required but what can I say? The lather was fantastic - I couldn't waste it! This is what shaving should be...

BTW - from the results of my "no AS, no balm" experiment that has been going for months now (I just re-lather and let the soap sit on my face while I put everything away), with a true variety of crappy and excellent soaps, I can't see myself going back to using "product" again. I get none of the irritation I used to get from alcohol and none of the zits I used to get from balms. Works whether it's hot or cold out, whether I cycle into work afterwards or not, etc etc. And if I want to stink pretty, then I can just use an EdT or EdP.

Having said that, I reserve the right to still use a balm if I'm not cycling on the odd winter's day and I've used a dodgy veggie soap. That's probably the only circumstance I find things can sometimes get a little dry...

Pre-Shave: @khun_diddy Olive Oil Soap, cold water
Razor: Guerrilla
Blade: Voskhod (2)
Brush: Rudy Vey Shavemac 2-Band Silvertip
Lather: Stirling Bay Rum
Post-shave: Alum, Stirling Bay Laurel Witch Hazel, Australian Emu Oil

An almost perfect shave with the Guirrilla today with just a tiny weeper and a very close end result. I think I have now found the perfect angle...The lather was very nice (picture here) but not as dense as I am used to from this great soap. But that was not very surprising, as I finished the tin (picture here).

I hope you all have wonderful Wednesday shaves (y)(y)(y)

Pre: Musgo Real Glyce
Brush: Shavemac Extreme Flat Top D01 2 Band
Soap: I Coloniali
Razor: Dorko 6/8"
Strop: SRD Latigo
Post-shave: LEA A/S Splash

An excellent 2 pass shave with the Dorko. This is the first time I've had such a close shave only doing two passes and, not only is my skin thankful, but it is 99% as close as my usual 3 passes. I've been a little reluctant to use the I Coloniali (for obvious reasons) but when I do I'm reminded why we are all so keen to stock up. Top performer.

Brush: Omega Synthetic Hi-Brush
Soap: Proraso Green
Razor: Merkur Progress (+2)
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Green
Lotion: Omega Alum Stick / Mennen Skin Bracer / Nivea Post Shave Balm

Today the Progress returns to its rotation as one of my 4 favored razors (Slim, FaTip Gold Gentle, 6S, Progress). It was a DFS, both smooth and close and without incident or irritation, as is characteristic of the 7 O'Clock Super Stainless blade. As always, YMMV.

Tim's Greek Peach

A nice 2 pass DFS. This soap takes more time to get the bubbles out and the water in but it got there in the end. Platypus brush was its usual excellent self...

Mastro Livi Hand Forged "Rasoio Italiano"

Luxurious shave! This morning I used this breathtaking Mastro Livi straight razor of which I have a very fond memory. It is in fact the straight razor Mastro Livi made for me and which is part of my "Italian Shave Set". I remember when Mastro Livi and I discussed about this set and how I wanted it to be, not to mention the excitement of seeing those ideas turning into reality thanks to the superlative Mastro Livi's craftsmanship and skill. I made a video that day - the link is below - and it was a wonderful day because for the first time shave brush, loom strop and straight razor were finally together and united. As for the shave, this extra full hollow blade gives an incredibly smooth shave and sings like an Italian tenore! To me it is absolutely incredible how Mastro Livi can ground a blade by hand and with his wheel grinders only while obtaining such a super thin grinding like onion skin with a very consistent precision and thickness all over the blade. Marvelous straight razor!

Early shave for an early start.

Very nice start though!

Pre: Hot Shower
Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable
Blade(s): Persona 74 (1)
Brush: Simpsons Super Chubby 2
Soap/Cream: Soapmakers of Awesometown
Post: Thayers Aloe Vera Medicated (plenty)

Well I cleaned and sanitised the Gillette Slim Adjustable and loaded it with the Personas I got with it. In hindsight I probably shouldn't have!

I usually only use Soapmakers of Awersometown on weekends, but this was a special moment. I set the Gillette to 5 (about mid way) and applied it to my lathered up face and felt for the angle I needed and commenced.

It was not a pleasant experience. I should have gone lighter, should have gone slower .. should have .. should have. Even after dialling back to 2 I could feel the burn. Copious amounts of Thayers and I have stemmed the flow of blood to a trickle.

Live and learn .. we will try again tomorrow with perhaps Polsilvers.
