Brush: Muhle Silvertip Synthetic
Soap: B&M Reserve Spice
Razor: Leresche 34/35
Blade: Nacet (3)

Nice DFS but not a fan of Spice. Too much old man smell for me. First time using it. Another few tries before moving it on. Leresche are great shavers and technically a three piece but opens like a two.

First shave with my new Feather Artist Club SS

Brush: 1092 Synthetic
Soap/Cream: APR Mycroft soap
Razor: Feather Artist Club SS
Blade: Feather AC Pro (1)
Post-shave: Thayer's medicated, alum, APR Fougère Bourbon Rose balm
A/S: APR Mycroft a/s

I am currently on leave and slept-in this morning.
When I awoke, I found that a package from Japan had just arrived with my new Feather AC SS shavette.
Since I was due for a shave anyway, I decided to give it a go.

First of all, let me just say this: Sweet mother of Tallow, that's a mighty sharp blade!
I usually complain that DE blades aren't sharp enough. But I swear, this thing could cleave the soul from your flesh!

I didn't have high expectations of this shave since I was pretty certain it would end in bloody mess and severed limbs... I was not wrong.
I came out red-raw on about 30% of my face and experienced about 6 small bleeders. But, the piece-de-resistance (pun intended) was the long laceration along my neckline where I slipped slightly and (very easily) broke the skin. Imagine someone coming up behind you and putting a knife to your throat with just enough pressure to show they were mental. Yeah. It looks exactly like that. Just enough blood to ruin whatever you might be wearing and show that they mean business.

I rinsed my face with ice-cold Canberra water which felt fantastic. Then followed it up with an ample application of alum... Whollykaw did that give an almighty burn! In hindsight I shouldn't have been surprised. But it certainly took my breathe away and I may have shed a tear.

But, I survived the experience. Sort of. And, in all seriousness, I think things will improve with experience.
The small patches of my face that came out unscathed look amazing. Baby-smooth and with no irritation. So, I think I just need to practice.
A feather-light touch is clearly required. As is the time to do it justice as rushing may well cause permanent damage; at least in the early days.

Overall, I'm looking forward my next attempt. But, it might have to wait until the weekend so I can heal...

Brave man and great blood story. Alum certainly wakes you up.
When I get to my Feather AC SS which also arrived yesterday I'll be using the ProGuard, especially after reading your experience and only doing my cheeks and chin. Then DE my neck and mouth area until my technique is up to it.
If you don't hear from me it's because I was getting a blood transfusion. o_O

Yeah. If I was to do it all again, I would have started with the ProGuard blades... In this instance, I think they would have made a significant difference.
And I will also back-off a bit and only do my cheeks/easy bits until my technique improves.

I'll tell you what, though: After the slaughter I did a bit of cleanup with my 6c(#5) and is was sooooooo easy. It was very similar to swimming with flippers and then taking them off; you feel so light!

Funny coincidence: I actually gave blood only late last week. I think of it as cheap insurance. ;)

Just got my hands on mine too! But already had my shave so need to wait two days to give it a crack. Maybe even a video. Who knows

Well you've either got it or you haven't and this week I just haven't. It just seems I am getting a couple of weepers on every shave with various razors and soaps, I'm off my game.
On the plus side, great lather, scent and razor today, maybe its a bum blade, probably just me.

Have a great day

Blade(s): Polsilver (3)
Brush: TF Lava Demon 26mm
Soap/Cream: B&M Soapmakers of Awesometown
Post: Dickinsons

First time with the new brush. Gave it a good clean last night and started loading with B&M goodness. Took a while to whip up some cream but eventually it started to come good. This knot can hold some water (and soap). The @Tony Forsyth handle felt nicer in my hand than the Chubby, just for the additional length of the handle. The Fat Boy was set to "6" over yesterday's "5" and apart from one nick on the adams apple worked well. I think though that a "5" is the best setting for me with this razor.

(the Rockwell stand is waiting for a Model T)

More pampering than shaving this morning. After some good advice from @bald as I used some hot towels pre-shave. Then the Slim on a nice mild setting for one pass and some touch ups. Followed by a pleasant post-shave. No BBS but no nicks of weepers and all very pleasant

Have a good day
