Todays shave: 21 Jan.

First straight razor shave in a good while, ended well with no blood being spilt. Music choice (Jimmy Summerville) was strategic in helping keep the inevitable rush of "Macho" below level "Chuck Norris"

Preshave: Shower & almond oil.
Razor: Thiers Issard "Spartacus" ⅝''
Soap: Soap Commander "Courage"
Brush: Sears Manchurian
Post shave: Alum block, Thayers, Myrsol Balsamica, FaceRock balm, Kenzo "Kenzo" EdT

Australian Private Reserve White Tea & Ginger Aftershave

A very nice start to Monday with the Mystic Water, really one of the best performers on the market in regard to lather, cushion, glide and post-shave feel. I often wonder about people having issues lathering or loading this soap as I have always found it such an excellent performer and one that I always look forward to using. The mandatory two passes today, the scent from the soap is absolutely fantastic and very much lends itself to the warm weather. One of my first paired scents and one of my personal favourites being a big fan of Chinese White Tea, a nice cool drenching then on with the balm and a liberal application of Aftershave.

Have a great day and love what you do you glorious bastards :)

I never do that @bald as as I'm allergic to Menthol forgot to add cause skin rash

Sorry to hear that. Allergies and irritations are often extremely hard to track down and eliminate. I have a list of soap allergies a mile long and that is the reason I make my own. I seem to react badly to almost any scented soaps, other than my own with a high quantity of Lemon myrtle.

My comment was meant to be light hearted but allergies are no fun at all.

Fatip Grande open comb DE
Lord Racer Blade (2)
Crabtree and Evelyn "Nomad" Cream
Proraso brush

2nd DE shave today and decided to use a more aggressive razor. Got a 3 pass (WTG/ATG/ATG) DFS (BBS in parts) this time. Still no damage at all. I probably need to get a blade sampler pack and try some sharper blades to take this forward any further. Coming off my Feather Artist Club scalpel, everything still feels inefficient / disconnected. Although the results are still good and the audio feedback is cool.

Nomad cream was great - it didn't get too airy / foamy so it was relatively easy to create a thin, slick lather. I only went with one almond's worth but needed more for later passes - will use more product straight up next time. Scent was great but very complex - limes were the only thing I recognised although I am an ignoramus with scents and probably prefer soaps that don't have them.

Brush: Envy White
Soap: PAA - Beach
Razor: Rockwell 6S (3)
Blade: PSI (3)
Post-shave: Alum, TSW Balm

I've just had my best shave to date and thought it worthy of my first SOTD post! Firstly, the lather from the PAA soap was outstanding, I overloaded the brush a bit and had a Beach explosion, perfect for a hot summer's day. Secondly, this is my third time using the Rockwell 6S, what a wonderful razor! It is so smooth and the feedback it gives is amazing. Finished off with The Stray Whisker Balm, a truly great shave, the combination 'just worked' today!

Catie's Bubbles "A Midnight Dreary"

Put more water in to the lather today and reaped the rewards. I got the slickness that Saturday's shave with the LPV was lacking but retained the protection and cushion at the same time. The post shave face feel was amazing which I find particularly interesting considering the soap is Coconut Oil based. No drying out the skin just a wonderful hydrated, nourished and clean post shave feel. These last 2 shaves have reminded me how much I love the Catie's Bubbles soaps and bumped them back on to the top tier for me.

I often hear people say that they can;t get a great lather from the Catie's Bubbles or that the lather does not remain stable throughout the shave. I have to say that in my early days I had similar issues (not just with Catie's but with a range of soaps). Now that I spend more time lathering and really concentrate on getting a really good lather started on the soap puck itself those issues have certainly subsided for pretty much every soap I have picked up. I also notice that the quality of my shaves has improved tenfold. I truly believe now that the lather itself is one of if not THE most important part of the shave. In my mind it doesn't matter how good the razor or the blade is or what brush you are using. An excellent shave starts with an excellent lather and when you start to take the time and get your lather right the results are extremely rewarding.

Pre: Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Thater 4125/2
Soap: Stirling Bay Rum
Razor: HG Razor Custom kamisori
Post: alum, witch hazel, TSW After Balm, Stirling Bay Rum

I am truly loving the Thater now, once I have gotten used to it. It's such a great bulb. That Thater has to be my favourite out of my other brushes.

Well, like @nsavage stated above, with great lather comes a great shave. Plus a little coaching from @Draco Noir about shaving against the grain with a kami. Getting the angle right plus slick lather is a hell of a difference.

Pre: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
Brush: Savile Row 3824 Silvertip Badger
Cream: Simpson Sandalwood
Razor: ATT Kronos open comb M2
Blade: Vintage Personna 74 (8)
Post: Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
EDC: DR Harris Traditional

The Sandalwood scent of the Simpson cream is a delight - a dirty Sandalwood that is very different from the norm.
The lather was creamy, voluminous, and provided good glide. The residual slickness was reasonable; the post-shave feel very nice.
Three passes for a very comfortable DFS.
Just like most wet shavers have an concept of what a classic Barbershop scent is, I have a concept of a classic Eau de Cologne scent, and it is DR Harris Traditional. As my Father used to say - "Just beautiful!"

Australian Private Reserve Grapefruit Injunction Aftershave

With Sydney set for a 40C day I was in the mood for the tart citrus of Grapefruit this morning, another day of excellent Mystic lather and the smell of sour citrus from the Grapefruit, a nice way to start a busy Tuesday. Two passes and a drench then on with the balm and the aftershave that compliments the Pompelmo & Fiori by design. All in all a very nice shave.

Have a great day cobbers, don't let the bastards get you down :)

@Mark1966 I didn't know @todras makes EDP :unsure: is the scent very nice and last longer

I don't make EDP, I made an EDP as a thank you for someone who rendered and continues to render life experience, professional expertise and assistance and I did so as an expression of my sincere gratitude and thanks.
