Santal Sunday
“Who the fuck stinks like embalming fluid?” That was the last comment I had about this from a rather uncouth lady at work who has a mouth like a dock worker.
Who the fcuk spends enough time around embalming fluid to know what it smells like?

... Sounds like a refined lass.

My experience is that a significant percentage of people who make such loud statements have difficulties with basic hygiene.
Don't pay any attention to them.

Very true, the other thing being they are typically used to cheap and budget priced synthetic fragrance oil 'compositions', having no experience of high quality materials and essential oils. They smell something of quality and are repulsed due to ignorance born out of their lack of experience.

That would be me ;)

Pre-Shave: SebaMed, cold water
Razor: Razorock Mamba SS
Blade: Ladas (1)
Brush: Morris & Forndran Tigris
Lather: Mike's Bay Rum
Post-Shave: Alum, Stirling Bay Laurel Witch Hazel, Australian Emu Oil

What a fantastic way to start the new week. The Mamba with a fresh Ladas resulted in a perfect shave. Smooth, efficient and zero problems - exactly the way I like it. I enjoy the razor more and more.

The M&F whipped up some amazing Mike's lather - can't ask for a better way to start the day.

I hope you all have a fantastic start into the new week (y)

"Piping the still"

Was overjoyed to receive the text this morning for my tub of "Red Lead" soap from @SchoolForAnts over at Squadron Soaps.
To have them select this name for this soap means a lot to me. The story of Red Lead the cat was the first old navy tale I was ever told, about the cat who knew on HMAS Perth I. I was just a young lad of 20 when I first stepped aboard HMAS Perth III as a baby seamen and it's a story that's always stuck with me.

So again thankyou to the team over at squadron soaps.

Scent profile: OLD SPICE!! And the best one I've ever used! Searched far and wide for an old spice soap and now I have the perfect one. It could of come off the old spice production line if I didn't know any better.

PRE: Hot shower.

Razor: 1940's Gillette British service tech.

Blade: Feather stainless (yellows)

Brush: Italian Zenith silver tip badger. RIP Draco

Soap: "Red Lead" - Squadron Soaps

Post: Old spice mixed with ocean water! Ok so maybe it was just old spice....

Razor: Vintage British Gillette Aristocrat #15
Blade: Vintage NOS Gillette Super Stainless 'Aussie Spoiler' (4)
Brush: Simpson LE 19/150 Jubilee shaving brush
Soap/Cream: Australian Private Reserve (APR) Lixiviant shaving soap
Aftershave Splash: Australian Private Reserve (APR) Lixiviant splash
Cologne: Australian Private Reserve (APR) Lixiviant EDP

Firstly, thanks to @Bozley82 for the Lixiviant, it arrived yesterday.

Accordingly to Wikipedia -

A lixiviant is a liquid medium used in hydrometallurgy to selectively extract the desired metal from the ore or mineral. It assists in rapid and complete leaching. The metal can be recovered from it in a concentrated form after leaching.
Lixiviants may work by altering the redox state of an ore, or by altering the pH. Acidic lixiviants, such as sulfuric acid, are commonly used to leach base metals such as copper, whereas basic lixiviants such as a solution of sodium cyanide are used to leach precious metals.
...
The origin is the word lixiviate, meaning to leach, to dissolve out, deriving from the Latin lixivium.

In turn Dictionary.com tells me that lixivium is from the Latin word lixīvium (lye) and was first recorded in 1605-15.

I couldn't see sulfuric acid or sodium cyanide on the ingredients list though - so we must be pretty safe o_O. I am thinking though that my face is fairly precious and that must have been the connection that @todras had in mind :)
