Monsavon Bol a Raser
Proraso brush

Both shaves were quick 2 pass WTG CCS with no real damage. Both soaps were quite thirsty (not really a bad thing for me - the more water it holds on your face the better) but operated quite acceptably when they had enough water to just begin breaking down. Otherwise too dry - so it can be a bit annoying to operate in a small window of moisture. The Col Conk was actually pretty good to use though (I used it like a shave stick and then loaded more onto the brush) as it didn't foam up at all which makes adding water and emulsifying quick and easy. Add too much water too fast to a lot of other soaps and you just get a face full of bubbles! It's just quite fussy about the amount of water. The Monsavon is a nice lather but not outstanding in anything in particular.

Razor: Gillette Rocket
Blade: Scottish Perma Sharp
Soap: Shaver Heaven Barbershop
A/S: Reef Point Barbershop

Barbershop was my first Shaver Heaven soap and I still think the scent is @Anthony's best. Beautiful spiced virus scent and matches perfectly with Reef Points Barbershop.

Brush: Paladin Tigris Perla 28mm Bulb
Soap: Stirling MITA
Razor: Theegarten Solingen 5/8 (nearer 4/8)
A/S: Myrsol Agua Limon

I was initially disappointed with this razor (my first) as it was much slimmer than the advertised 5/8". In fact, when I started with a straight I felt I needed the heft of a 6/8. However, with about 100 straight shaves (and a dozen razors) under my belt this razor is fast becoming my favourite. Super keen and very smooth this zips around my face, getting into angles that other razors struggle with.

Saturday shave went as follows and is sponsored by @Mark1966:

Razor: E2 Fatboy (5)
Blade: La brune française Wilkinson Sword, fabriqué en Angleterre (4)
Brush: Smog 730HD 'The Shedder'
'CROAP': T&H 1805 cream
Post: T&H AS Splash

Thanks to Mark who sent me the 1805 - one of my favourite 'big name' scents with TOBS Jermyn being the other. The cream is a bit old and had dried out significantly, rendering it more of a croap and the brush struggled with it a bit. I have misted a bit of water in there and will try to bring it back a little softer over time. Scent has most certainly diminished and possibly due to it drying out somewhat, but the performance was still very good.

Standard two passer with a slight nick on a bump on the neck.... dabbed the alum on it and then hit the dial with the AS and got a fine result.

Great shave with everything performing extremely well. The ATT R1 is a nice efficient razor and also very smooth. Extremely well weighted and I instantly felt like I had been using it for months. I can see why this is a daily driver for some and I am very impressed. The knot in the Paladin has some very different characteristics to my other Paladin with Select knot. This knot seems denser and exhibits a small decrease in flow through. It does however have significantly more backbone but the tips are ever so soft and gel like. Another great brush from one of the leading artisan brush makers. The soap performed admirably well. I will need to spend some more time with it and dial it in a little more (not helped by using a brush that is new to me) and I feel like I added a little too much water too quickly and then overcompensated later in the lathering process by not adding enough more. Nevertheless preliminary indicators are that the soap performs well and I will post some further thoughts after I have spent some more time with it. Unfortunately that is going to have to wait though, fly out to the GC early in the morning for a week of rest and recreation that I am very much looking forward to.

Mastro Livi Double Damascus San Mai

Sunday shave in a rainy day. Here in Italy it is raining since many days and clouds high in the sky promising more and more rain. In my monthly trip I brought with me one of the fist Mastro Livi razors I added to my collection, the first san mai damascus the famous artisan from Perugia made for me. I like everything about this razor but I must say the three colors amboyna scales really amaze me. A great match to the gorgeous blade made with two different carbon damascus steels and assembled by using the San Mai technique, therefore obtaining a three layers blade. Not to mention how smooth it is the shave it gives, this time completed with the spicy touch of Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla aftershave.

Castle Forbes Lime Essential Oil Aftershave Balm
Australian Private Reserve Bois de santal de verveine Aftershave
Australian Private Reserve Fête au Citron EDP

Quite a nice way to start the week, the luxurious Castle Forbes Lime shaving cream produces a superb lather and the use of pure EO affords a rich, citrus, tart fragrance to the proceedings, a very enjoyable experience of two passes then a nice clean off in cold water. A revisit of the lovely lime oil by way of the CF balm, it's a nice light balm and ideal for the warmer weather - I really appreciate pure EO post shave products as the longevity of the scent is so much greater than purely frag oil offerings. A liberal application of a mentholated Sandalwood, Lime, Verbena which suits the Castle Forbes to a tea then on with the Lemon Party EDP for all day endurance and the wonderful animal musk and citrus accords.

Have a bloody good day you glorious bastards :)
