Shave of the Day Thread - 2018

Bit of a bonus picture today, I was sideswiped by a fully laden cement lorry who decided to change lanes without checking his blind spot on the way to work this morning.

Fortunately there were no injuries whatsoever but I could have been seriously injured or killed quite easily and the collision could have involved other motorists as it was peak hour. I took a defensive driver course some time back as I spend a lot of time on the roads so I walked away from this only a little shaken and with the car basically trashed. This is on the Western Distributor that feeds onto the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Please be safe our there on out roads people, and watch out for bloody truck drivers :)

Glad you’re OK (y)

@alfredus - congrats on the anniversary. Great image as well.

So what can I report? I love 6/8" full and extra hollow blades :)
Very good lather and exceptionally sharp irritation free shave.

If you have never had a straight razor shave, put it on your bucket list.

One and done - till next time.

Happy anniversary, @alfredus :)
Thanks guys - greatly appreciate it (y)(y)(y)

Thanks for the kind words all of you, it's given me a chance to vent and get it out of my system - while talking to hire car and the other sides (truck drivers) insurance company about their clients indisputable liability for the accident, my expenses, loss of income and nervous shock :)

WOW mate, that could have ended up a lot worse. Glad you seem OK - but do make sure you look after yourself over the next few days.
+1 Wishing you a speedy recovery from the accident. Silly silly truck driver (n)

It's my first ever accident and I have been driving for 26 years, I was only reading just the other day that in NSW there has been a massive increase of accidents involving trucks too. I see Cement trucks and Double B trucks really moving on the Sydney roads every day, I know they are professional drivers who rely on driving for their income but they need to pull their heads in because it's so bloody easy for them to kill someone when they hoon.
Yeah I read an article the other day highlighting a crack down on 'phantom' truck drivers operating between Sydney and Canberra. Too many accidents caused by drivers who shouldn't be on the road or driving illegal operations, etc. Sad to read one of us was involved but it helps get more awareness out there so thanks. You can't take any chances on the roads these days with trucks, meth heads, P platers texting and the like. Hope you doing OK mate!

As @borked said there has been a massive increase in road freight over rail freight. I have a mate in Sydney associated with the transport industry who also commented a little while back that the explosion in online trading has resulted in a massive increase in the couriers/vans/light truck end of the industry, with low barriers to entry, and the increase in building and construction work in Sydney has also resulted in a corresponding increase in related trucking.

It really is one thing I really notice going back to Sydney since being in Canberra from 2009 - the amount of trucks and heavy vehicles you have on suburban roads. It makes a huge difference in traffic flow and has, obvious, safety issues.

What the *uck!!! You are so lucky to be able to walk away from that  Make sure you get yourself checked by a doctor as the adrenaline can mask out the pain during that time. Wow

Pre: hot water & towel
Brush: Frank shaving 30mm synth
Soap: PAA Agharta
Razor: Schick Krona
Blade: Timor (4)
A/S: Chatillon Lux Bon vivant toner

Lovely toner and intoxicating scent. Matched well with the PAA Agharta. Being snooping in my own cupboard at my sabbatical stash and realised this was one of my first real soaps, now over a year ago. Easily lathered and thick and rich. So underrated and I should use it more often.
Happy days :chicken:

Edit: FS brush is like a boar than a contemporary synth. Must be first gen as not soft at all.

@todras sorry to read about the accident. Hope it all works out and no major problems come out of it.

I'm sure it will move along at the speed of most insurance claims, I went to see my GP of course almost immediately and he was thankful if understandably horrified at the pictures.

I called 000 immediately (Harbor Bridge, Peak Hour Traffic, expressway median strip=dangerous situation) as much to ensure that half of Sydney was not inconvenienced but also to ensure that statements were taken from both sides, breath tests were administered and witnesses could give their statements immediately after witnessing the incident. Proving fault and evidencing claims with insurance companies is significantly easier if you have statements taken at the scene of the accident by experienced Highway Patrol officers. The police I must say need to be commended for the way they dealt with the scene and restored normal traffic flow having ascertained there were no injuries, all the time trying not to scream at the truck driver as I am sure they know full well how these kind of accidents usually tend to play out...

I will replace my Mazda SP25 with a 2017 model in a few weeks as it's a very nice car to drive, fuel efficient and has excellent cabin safety features ;)

First shave on a week.... and the third in almost a month.

My first trial of the well known eufros soaps, that came, as some of you know, from my very own country...

I used cronos, a sample... and I must say I was not enjoying the lather I was getting, maybe because I was working the sample, but the razor just glide so well... it really surprised me from the lather I made. It gave me a great job, and I am so happy of that, even if the scent is something that will take me time to appreciate, but, so far, is so good. The scent didint persists much so even better because safter this time at the field I go back to he APR balm Suitably attired australian, and also the parfum SAS from APR House

Great ypu ok, mate. I came from areas where driving is crazy, at the point of driving in africa or the middle east looks so easy..... but from Oz, I certainly can say that trucks are so crazy or faster than in other places, and they mostly drive as if the road belong to them.

I almost killed myself in accidents motorbiking a few times, but I know exactly how to drive in the public arena, and hot to behave, in a defensive way, looking to a next car and see how it drive and what to expect form him.

We humans are a bunch of shit and you cannot trust the one next to you, specially on the road!!

cheers
Fer

Night Music needs no introduction, you all know it’s magnificence.
Followed this up today with a perfume getting a fair bit of wear of late and that’s Guerlain Santal Royal. Opens rich and opulent with succulent peach, rose, cinnamon and oud, the Guerlinade runs through this and lovely woody musk and leather. Lasts well on me but it stays close, a divine scent to get enveloped in. Underrated in my opinion. Some would call it old fashioned, I just say it’s classic perfumery. A great accessible scent.

February challenge: Shave #2

The last 2 nights I've fallen asleep watching TV after din-dins and been to tired to shave :(
