Semogue 1800, MWF, Mingshi, Polsilver,Witch Hazel,Nivea,Old Spice Musk,VCS
Faux Futur Friday: Three passes starting with the Mingshi set on 3,then was feeling adventurous so dialled up to 6. With that setting and the Polsilver it felt like I was using a guarded straight! Actually don't think the guard had any effect as it was all blade contact and going very steady, paying close attention to angle and pressure.Very close result with a little irritation on the chin at the end but am attributing it to the multiple short strokes.Needed them to avoid any blood because the razor on that setting is so aggressive
Perfect Setting For A Shave (y)(y)(y)(y)(y)

This could have been a great shave, and it was looking that way until I remembered why I don't use this brush any more...

Pre: Shower
machine: Seygus extrem open head
brush: FS mixt
soap: Fauno byLuna
splash: APR G'day Mate
balm: TSW

not very nice once I started seeing a lot of bristles on the lather... Otherwhise, very good shave. APR Fresca as EdP to be applied in a few minutes :)

Have a good day everybody.
Change the knot out with one from Maggards The handle looks good

Razor: Vintage Gillette 'Fatboy' Adjustable (5)
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (1)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Rooney Badger and Boar
Soap/Cream: Australian Private Reserve (APR) les généraux du grand livre shaving soap
Aftershave: Australian Private Reserve (APR) les généraux du grand livre splash
Fragrance: Australian Private Reserve (APR) les généraux du grand livre EDP

Thought I'd try a change to the vintage blades for a while and go back to the old favourite - the Astra SP. My first decent shaves came with these

Semogue 1800, Haslinger-Ringelblumen (Calendula), Parker 34R, Derby, Witch Hazel, Viet Lime/Citrus

Swapped out the Polsilver for a Derby and was not overly impressed.Definitely not as sharp and nowhere near as smooth, sharp enough but not a blade that I will be using again so my daughter can use them for her leg shaves. The Haslinger soap was excellent.Lathered easily and quickly and I could feel the slickness as soon as I applied to my face.I don't use as much water as some, but this soap didn't need much at all and it held it's consistency right through to the end of first pass.Had a residual slickness for little "touch up"strokes, and felt better on the second pass.I didn't know much about it as it was sent as a sample so did some investigating and it is tallow based with glycerine in there as well, has a very pleasant scent although light and could smell the Marigold but also thought I could detect a bit of honey yet not listed as an ingredient. It brought back memories from childhood of eating honey and real butter on fresh white bread in the back yard.I will definitely be ordering a,comparatively small, puck in the future.
Have a great Easter guys

It looks summer has made a small comeback to Van diemen's Land :)

Yeah!, I am so attired now :D

Impressed with the ammount of lather this soap is able to make!!

Black Saturday

Razor: Timeless Bronze Closed Comb
Blade: Vokshod
Brush: Revamped LEADER in boar bristle
Lather: Shaver Heaven Fougere
Post: Speick AS Splash
Fragrance: ZEGNA Acqua di Bergamotto EDT

Started using the various blade sample packs that have been sent out along with previous purchases. The blade was supposed to be teflon coated & super sharp. I suppose it did the trick as I didn't have any nicks or weepers, but I used a mild Timeless to begin with anyway. The soap lathered admirably with a great scent to boot, and I can see why it has a bit of a following in the community. All in all, a great shave to start the day before going to donate plasma to the Red Cross (y) PS Donate to the Red Cross if you can...it SAVES lives!!!

Brush: Muhle silvertip badger
Razor: Feather AS-D2. Two passes and touch up.
Blade: Astra green
Shave Soap : Proraso green. (Yes I will try new soaps)
Post: Proraso Pre & After Shave Cream
Bowl: From the kitchen :sneaky:. My significant other (Art teacher) will make a ceramic shaving bowl for me. :)

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Castle Forbes pre-shave gel
Brush: Tony Forsyth P&C LE 2017 Platypus
Soap: Creed Green Irish Tweed
Razor: Gillette Slim (8)
Blade: Vintage NOS Wilkinson Sword French Brown
Post: Myrsol Emulsion
Scent: Penhaligon's Castile

I chose the soap as I had sampled the same fragrance at a Department Store earlier in the day. The Creed soap, despite being a lighter citrus/fern fragrance, has excellent scent strength. Three passes for DFS+.

Progress w/Polsilver
TurnNshave Full moon synth
SV Manna di Sicilia
Anherb balm

What sorcery is this soap?
I loaded up for just 12 seconds and had never ending lather! I added a bit of water before each pass and it just kept going and going and going. Didn't thin out and was just perfect all the way through.

The scent is intoxicating and the perfect strength. None of the SV soaps have ever caused any skin irritation or allergies for me, despite the slightly stronger scent strength than many other soaps.

This soap is top notch quality in every way!!

I actually consider SV light to mid in scent strength, but that could just be the samples I've got. (For a bit of reference, something like Stirling or WK I consider strong. Tallow & Steel or Meissner Tremonia Strong 'n' Scottish I consider overboard :))

Also for context, I believe you've had issues with other soaps in the past?

I agree 100% @nav1 - SV makes amazing soaps and Manna di Sicilia is one of my favourites :)

I wouldn't classify them as strong either. I was more meaning that they are strong enough to easily smell throughout the entire shave but never irritate my skin or trigger allergies...High quality ingredients I'm guessing.

The 12 second load also surprises me every time! It really debunks the mindset that hard pucks need extra loading or a brush that has backbone.

The dolomiti is by far my favorite SV soap and probably all time top 3 scents. But I do really enjoy all the four I have.

Pre-shave: Hot shower
Brush: Unbranded long handle synth
Soap/Cream: Layrite - Natural Matte Cream
Razor/Blade: Unbranded swivel single edge ceramic blade with guard
After shave: Queen 100% Pure Canadian - Maple Syrup splash

Not a great shave (I think the blade needs sharpening), but it smells nice (y). A vanilla scent from the cream and true maple scent from the after shave makes it a great gourmand combo. I found out that the cream doesn't really lather, so treat it more as a brush-less.
