Progress w/Polsilver
TurnNshave boss knot synth
DRHarris Arlington soap
Anherb balm

I just love the DRHarris soaps! Great fern scent and awesome performance! These classic milled soaps are top tier IME.

The boss knot synth is a fantastic brush! I really enjoy it a lot!!

I'm sick of these mother fucking snowflakes carrying on about mother fucking alcohol on a mother fucking plane, when the wings are full of flammable liquids and gases!
Seriously, they need to get a grip and put things into perspective.

Razor: Rockwell 6c (3)
Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux (1)
Brush: TSW 452 24"
Soap/Cream: Wholly Kaw: King of Oud (sample) (donkey)
Post: Alum, fancy magic, and Wholly Kaw: Fougère Parfait balm
Fragrance: Maison Franics Kurkdjian: OUD satin mood Extrait de parfum

Decided to mix things up today. What could go wrong? (historically, quite a bit)

Having some family over today for afternoon tea. So, I was hoping for a nice but not overly showy shave.
... As I type that I realise how silly that sounds. My brother-in-law is a garbo. Wonderful guy. But I'm not going to impress him with such things. But, I digress.

Soap:
@Kaeckerut lent me some Wholly Kaw samples to try.
"King of Oud" sounds great on paper and I am already acquainted with the excellent WK performance. So, I was keen to give that soap a whirl.
My last WK attempt was with (I think) "Man from Mayfair". The performance then was great. But the scent put me off.

The performance was, again, excellent. But, I had very similar problems with scent.
I was expecting a long, soft, and deep oud scent. But, my nose couldn't get past the burning-plastic smell that seems to dominate. It instantly gives me a headache and I think is the same scent that turned me off the last WK soap.
So, that was disappointing.

Post:
On @Kaeckerut 's advise I tried a (WK) balm instead of an alcohol-laced splash. Thankfully the balm doesn't exhibit the same plastic-smell. It performs very nicely and absorbs immediately leaving no hint of sheen. I think I would benefit from using a balm more regularly in my routine instead of just at night.

Blades:
It was also suggested that I try a Rapira blade. Turns out I already had a pack that I hadn't opened yet.
On first use it was fully evident that they are nowhere near as sharp as my GSBs, Polsilvers, or Nacets. Nor as smooth.
I have to emphasise that my facial-hair is very coarse and the vast majority of blades won't 'glide' through it resulting in tugging and irritation.
That said, I would rate these blades as 'ok'. I won't buy any more. But I'm not binning them either.

Fragrance:
Followed everything up with some "Oud Satin Mood"... I love this scent so much. *swoon*
Funny thing is I originally obtained it from @Kaeckerut as well. So, I guess this shave is dedicated to you, Brother. :)

Overall result:
Not as good a shave as I was hoping for. But, the final result was socially-acceptable.
I think perhaps WK and I just weren't meant to be, which is a shame. Whatever is causing that weird smell literally hurts my brain.
Glad you enjoyed the balm. I'm not sure what the 'burning plastic' smell is, do you only get it after lathering? or can you detect it from the container? Did you detect it in the balm? Hopefully it's not something in the soap base, though there is a vegan version to test ;).

Side note: Also wanted to mention Oud Satin Mood is the Extrait version, not the standard.

@Razor Burn , glad you enjoyed it :) It's one I ended up buying a full tub of early on due to the scent.

I detect it off the sample and from the lather. It must be something I'm hyper-sensitive to... It's that strong to me. :(

Did you detect it in the balm?
Nope. The balm was fine. (y)

Never had a great shave with the Maggard V3A head bougth to our fellow @thisISjoel . I got it today:

Pre: Myrsol Emulsion
machine: maggard V3A
brush: yaqi synthetic
soap: Grooming Dept. After the Fire
splash: B&M Seville

Besides a small cut (I may drop in the near future some questions about it, whenever I cut myself, quite rarely, it always happen in the same damn spot, which is permantly irritated).
I am very happy with GD performance, specially regarding soap duration. Given that now I can see the bottom of the tub, I am pretty sure that this soap won't even last for 30 shaves, probably it will be around 20.... did you hear that, @alfredus ).

Nice combinations of products. i like Seville for evening/night shaves as it scent is nice but won't last too much. Enough to still feel it while going to bed.
cheers
Fer

Prep: Shower, Stirling Iced Coffee
Brush: Majesto Shaving - 30mm Silvertip Fan
Razor: Antique Bronze Wolfman WR1-DC(0.74) on WRH-2
Blade: Polsilver SI (5)
Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - AA
Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Santal Auster - Aftershave
Fragrance: Chatillon Lux - Santal Auster (Parfum Extrait) - Parfum

Finally got around to trying Southern Witchcrafts and I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the soap. Provided a slick and protective lather, that resulted in a great shave. Love this scent on this one(not released yet). Grabbed some Santal Auster as it seemed to provide a great pairing.

AP Reserve Couer de Vert Splash/EDP

A question for @todras or anyone else. What is the scent difference between the Apr Couer de Vert and General Ledger? They are both described as modern fougeres, sonare they a different take on the same thing? Similar but slightly different or very different?

Razor: Vintage Gillette British NEW head on a Weber classic handle
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (1)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson 'H2' boar
Soap/Cream: Australian Private Reserve (APR) les généraux du grand livre shaving soap
Aftershave: Australian Private Reserve (APR) les généraux du grand livre splash
Fragrance: Australian Private Reserve (APR) les généraux du grand livre EDP

I couldn't wait to slip a fresh blade into the newly replated NEW head which just arrived back from Dave at Restored Razors.I wish I had a camera to post a picture, looks lovey!

Great shave too, getting to the end of this version 1 of the APR soap :)

Soap: Pb - The Green Mac
Brush: Omega Italian 21762
Razor: Asylum Rx
Blade: Feather Pro (1)
Post: Jojoba Oil
AS: APR General Ledger
This soap is perfect for the Asylum. I was being tentative due to new blade but the protection and glide were flawless.... until I got overconfident and buffed a little at the end, resulting in a couple of inconsequential mini weepers.

I'm just sitting here looking (and drooling a little) at that picture......one day I'd like to own a Wolfman Bronze Razor. Is that 0.74 the blade gap? What aggression level would that equate to, or how would it compare to a Muhle R41?

Seriously, they need to get a grip and put things into perspective.

The reason the restrictions exist is that idiots post flammable products in containers not approved to carry flammable liquids.

The party is over pal.

Tighter rules, more complicated and far more expensive compliance requirements are the new normal for the way forward. The gloves have come off.

You can thank all the idiots who send alcohol in plastic containers, bottles that leak when traveling internationally, and bottles that are not approved for shipping alcohol based solutions.

One pass on cheeks and a couple on chin ,top lip.Used more water for the MWF and got a great glide for the Fili with no issues.Forgot that I ordered a small bottle of oil from ebay a few weeks back.I bought it so I could get an idea of the Oud scent, sweet but very woody, which I suppose is to be expected.I have a faint memory of it from somewhere but just cannot grasp it,maybe from the old Animal Bar in Port Macquarie years ago. I like it,don't love it but will consider a purchase of a quality house made product later in the year.
(Can't remember if I have used the pic before but there it is.)

so in a nutshell they have introduced new laws to stop the people who never followed the existing laws anyway. with the effect that the legit guys are getting punished and paying more while the illegal shippers will carry on same as always.

Let's ban idiots!

Razor: Colonial The General SE
Blade: Kai Mild
Brush: Maseto badger 26mm
Lather: APR General Ledger
Post: Floid Mentholado Vigoroso
Fragrance: YSL Y Pour Homme

I got the Colonial from the forum's B&E quite recently. I've been curious for a while now on how it would perform. The General is much lighter than I thought it would be, but it didn't affect the shave that much. Once I figured out the angles, the result was quite good. It will not become one of my regulars, but it's fun to use once in a while. I think already have more than what I imagined I'd have when I started less than a year ago :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
