Nice shave this morning. Thought I would give the Thomas Method a crack with the FaTip.
I think I might have to find the R4 plate for the Rockwell.
It's quite interesting to feel the differences between the razors when used immediately after one another.
The FaTip has quite a lot of blade feel, and is almost harsh feeling.
Then the Rockwell follows up and it's just so super smooth. Best money I've spent on hardware so far!

Another fantastic 3 pass BBS.

@Normie - I find the Fatip works best with a blade in the last half of its life. Starting a blade off in the Rockwell at a low plate for the first couple of shaves gives me great efficiency with low damage. To maintain the same, I then have to work up through the plates on the Rockwell until shave 4 or 5, when I transfer it to the Fatip for the same result until the end (circa 8 shaves overall).

However, I must say there is an alternative strategy of just using a blade for a couple of shaves in plate 2 of the 6S and then ditching it. Going by today's shave, it probably yields the best result... albeit mildly wasteful!

Oh man, sorry to hear that.
It lathers up great for me. I've always had good lather from the EJ/Muhle soaps (same manufacturer). I have sea buckthorn from muhle and that's excellent also.

I just load up for twenty or so seconds and face lather...rich, slick lather for 3 passes.

I do wonder why it didn't work for you. I doubt it's water related or technique since you lather up your other soaps.

Choc delight indeed! I really enjoyed the strong, pure chocolate scent today even though I'm not a fan of food based scents.

To date, more efficient at all settings than the 6S. #3.5-4 on the Rex is equivalent to the #6 on the Rockwell. Working my way through settings now (up to #3 but have used #6 for a couple passes). Gets a bit bitey at 3, but you don't really notice until you see blood (still very smooth). Shaved on #3 this morning around 7am and still smooth now. Rockwell = smoother and cheaper, doesn't scale the same as the Rex... Rex = more efficient (bigger scale of mild to aggressive), better to look at, still very smooth, and adjustable on the fly.

This may change over the next week or 2 though, but just initial thoughts.

Two passes for a smooth result. Now I have been using the Fili for a little while,I must say I don't actually like it as much as I feel I should.Got it working as it should be,but the Bengall gives a much better shave,feels better in the hand and just does the job better.The Fili does not feel quite right holding it,it's ok as a shaver but to me lacks something.Maybe I was expecting more,they are a much sought after and raved about item yet to me it is just a piece of sharp steel after all,actually worth a bit more than what I paid for it,a hell of a lot more yet it doesn't give the satisfaction factor I get from the Bengall.I even like the Parker shavette better.Might just let it sit unused,just for the fact I can say I have one.

That's interesting @pvsampson . I've thought whether I should buy a Filarmonica because of their reputation but haven't gone seriously hunting for one to date. I assumed you would prefer the Fili over the Bengall. I very much like my Bengall's but prefer some of my other blades over them. I wouldn't part with the Bengall's though as they have a distinct and perhaps mellower character to my other blades.

I can say that I will definitely keep the Bengall I have,and will keep my eyes out for another.The Filarmonica looks great,and I made a comparison previously between the two as a workhorse versus thoroughbred which I would still do.It's just otherwise underwhelming for me.

WTF!! this Rockwell is F!@#$%^ fantastic initially ran over first pass on 1 then flipped it to 3 dare I say it's possible it's better than my Gillette Fat Boy there I said it, I know some who know me and my passion for my Fat Boy would say I've been smoking something tonight but that it, it is possible it could rival at least if not be better than the Fat Boy.... Comfortable as comfortable could be and for me close as nothing I think I can recall & that's not even a blade as good as I have in stock a mild blade compared to my Schick or Gillette Stainless Steel. I can say it was a When Sally met Harry moment.
