Another top shave with loads of comfort for a better than DFS. The lather was absolutely top notch for comfort, glide and moisturiser...
Have a great day!

Warm day for the first shave back in my den in six months. I felt like some euc and menthol and had a great DFS+. This blade cut me on plate 2 but plate 1 does tame it at the expense of some efficiency, although there is no skin discomfort at all. A good option if I want to baby my skin - never thought I would use plate 1 but this blade pushed me there!

Love to see the pictures.:)

I didn't get too many pictures as wasn't overly confident that it was all going to come together as I hadn't restored a razor before... Anyway here is where the journey began:
I got the razor thinking it didn't look too bad... you know, maybe just re-glue the broken scale and and clean it up... how hard can it be?

OK a little worse than I thought... But the blade cleaned up OK and was able to save the washers so all that was required was to make new scales out of buffalo horn blanks (this can't be hard can it?).

OK with a little patience (not one of my strong points) and perseverance I got to here:

Post - APR Florian

Have really only been using the 2 plate for a while and it gives me a nice shave in 2 passes plus minor touching up. Even yesterday's shave with a 2 day beard was taken off with the 2 plate easily. I was going to flip it to 4 yesterday, but decided to try the 2 out and was impressed.

I also discovered that when using APR splashes, that less is more. I mean normally i would shake the bottle into my palm about 6-7 times. I would find that my face might feel 'greasy' during the day, but today (and on other occasions), i used half as much and my face feel is much nicer. Not bagging the product in any way, and i also wet one hand before rubbing the splash over both hands and then the face. I heard that this helps get a more even coverage when applying any aftershave.

thanks for the heads up mate. I also use quite a lot of splash and on dry hands and apart from going through it quicker i also found that my face feeling 'greasy'. will, give it a go tomorow

My splashes come in at around 5.3% which is really strong and they are also loaded with 'skin food'. You only need a couple of splashes to get the full benefit of both, if you want more of the fragrance for longer thats where the EdT/EdP's come in.

Good point.

I recall you mentioned somewhere about you believe using 2 x bottles of splash for 1 tub of soap about normal. I thought this was saying to use more splash than i was previously. I almost think 1 x splash to 2 x soaps, but i might load heavy :giggle:
